High quality pub grub - Edit
Good menu choice and portions are huge! I have quesidilla, my husband the fish and chips. Hot and tasty, but the service was so slow and we were given no reason for this. I really should revisit in case it was a bad day I visited on, but just a bit off putting

Incredibly slow - Edit
If you have 2 hours to spend at a restaurant, this is an option where all food is vegan. However, for the food they serve, there’s no reason for you to need to wait that long. We went there twice. The first time was during Fringe, so we thought the 40 minutes waiting time for a burger and a pasta dish, was just because they were busy. However we went there again in a night where they were not busy and we waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for our food. Since the kitchen is open, you can even see them on their phones, instead of working. We then asked them to just pack the food since we had a show to go to and that also took 10 minutes… Avoid if you only have 1h to eat!

Pizza, salad or haggis - Edit
I really enjoyed the vegan haggis, but I could have had pizza or a simple salad if I had wanted. The atmosphere was lively early on a Saturday night and it seemed more of a bar with good vegan food than a restaurant.

Great pizza, nice space - Edit
I had a really excellent pizza here, and the coffee was nice too.
Read moreThey have lots of space inside, as well as wifi and power sockets, and were kind enough to let me sit inside with my laptop for two hours before my friends arrived to join me for dinner.
They are also dog friendly.
If it wasn't so far off my usual routes, I'd be here all the time.
Pros: Great pizza, Power and wifi, Nice vibe
Cons: Distance from where I stay

Disappointing - Edit
This was our first visit in some time and unfortunately it was a long way from it's best. The menu is very limited now and the quality of the food was mixed. The loaded mac sounded like ideal comfort food but the haggis wasn't noticeable. After waiting some time for the dessert menu we decided to go else where for coffee. Harmonium used to offer really high quality bar food and hopefully it can regain those standards

Great soup - Edit
It's a friendly pub/bar and everything's vegan. I had the soup as I just wanted a light lunch. Very tasty and well presented.

Nowhere near as good as it once was - Edit
Went to Harmonium recently and sadly the standard of food (and service) has fallen a lot since they had their old place a few years back. Food was very average and took ages to arrive. In 2018 the food was excellent and easily was the best place in Edinburgh for vegans. Now it's below average. Disappointing!

Good but overhyped - Edit
Energetic feel to the place but we didn’t understand all the hype. If looking for food with a bar feel, I would rather go to brew dog and enjoy their vegan menu.

Grim and greasy - Edit
I just don’t get these positive reviews. I’ve been there three or four times. At its previous location it was pretty tasty. However since moving something has gone wrong. The food they serve is focused on replicating popular dishes featuring animal products. Unfortunately they’ve chosen not to replicate high quality versions of these dishes. Overall the experience is a near perfect rendition of a country pub where the chef isn’t in and instead the pissed off teenager behind the counter microwaves whatever food they have in the freezer until it’s piping hot and swimming in whatever oil it has exuded in the process. Special mention goes to a horrendous dish they claimed to be Szechuan, in homage to the various curries, stir fries and other International dishes that litter pub menus across the country. Szechuan in this context meant a heavy dousing with cheap soy sauce. Mala? Sorry what? The worst part of it all was they didn’t even add MSG, probably because they read a blog post about how it, aluminium in deodorants and bad vibes were all extremely dangerous. In short, avoid this place.

Inedible - Edit
It’s incredibly frustrating that because of it’s vegan status I cannot rate it a 1 star, but truly the food here is terrible.
Read moreI’ve visited Harmonium on 5 occasions over the past few years (including its previous location) and each time the food is ok, but not amazing. However the last time we went, the food was simply inedible. I ordered a Szechuan style bowl of rice which wasn’t Szechuan in any way. It wasn’t even spicy? It was incredibly salty, soy sauce was the only thing you could taste, I could not finish it.
My partner had ordered a pizza which came with slightly different toppings than described on the menu. The pizza was cold, the vegetables on it tasted like the super cheap veggies from Lidl (nothing wrong with this, but it’s not what you expect from a place like this).

Vegan haggis pizza! - Edit
It was my first time visiting Scotland so of course I had to go to Harmonium to try vegan Haggis pizza. I love that they offer vegans a way to try haggis. The pizza was delicious! We also ended up ordering desserts which were amazing as well. Harmonium is definitely worth of visiting.

Mac and cheese HAGGIS - Edit
I ordered Mac and cheese and it came with layers of haggis and bacon in it, delicious. The garlic bread is more like a slice on toast, but still good. Poutine fries were incredible also. I was very full afterwards.

Amazing - Edit
We had the scallop mushrooms, ceasar salad and cauli steak, all three dishes were great. Our child had the « fish » fingers and said they were the best she ever had, so that’s something I guess 👍🏼

Wonderful food & better service - Edit
I ordered the mac n cheese with garlic bread, scallops, and the irn bru brownie. Everything was absolutely delicious, and I had the best time. The lady serving me was really lovely and recommended the mac n cheese to me. This was my first time travelling alone - and all the way up to Edinburgh, and Harmonium was my first restaurant experience there, so thank you for making me feel so welcome.

Bad food quality unfortunately - Edit
Judged bu the rating and reviews here and the fact that it reuires reservations on weekends I had high expactations. We had two starters and mains (mac n cheese and fish burger) and it was really dissappoiting. Couldnt even finish it and I ALWAYS eat up.

pretty good! - Edit
I really like the atmosphere of this place, and the food was pretty good too. The burger was easily the best thing I had, and the garlic bread was a close second. The mac & cheese was a little bland and disappointing, but overall I’d consider this a good place if you’re looking for some hangover food.

I don't get the highly rating - Edit
I booked a table as it was fully booked the day before.
Read moreI ordered the mushroom scallops and the Mac and cheese.
The scallops dish was really small, 3/4 of a king oyster mushroom with some cream and haggis, not great but not bad either.
The bad thing about it is that I waited 40 minutes for it.
The Mac and cheese were terrible, overcooked pasta and tasteless white sauce. I eat the top of it, the chips (the frozen kind) and the salad (clearly old) just because I was hungry after waiting all that time.
The waiter couldn't be bothered to ask me why I left almost the whole bowl of mac and cheese.
I want to support vegan places when I go on holidays, but a little effort from their side is expected too.

Lovely service and nice food - Edit
We had booked for dinner as it was a bit of a walk from the hotel. I asked about mocktails as I couldn’t see a drinks menu (our phone internet doesn’t work in the UK), and they didn’t have any but he offered to make me one and just leave the alcohol out. It was nice. I had the cauliflower steak with rice. I thought the rice might be too much with cauliflower but it was spiced nicely. My partner had the tacos which he enjoyed and said were filling. I also ordered the salted caramel and chocolate mousse.

Vam quedar satisfets! - Edit

Poor quality, preparation and nutrition but vegan - Edit
I don’t know why there are so many positive reviews. We didn’t enjoy it. The food was vegan but without any nutrients besides carbs and fat. We had a pizza, a burger and a salat. All of it was below our expectations. The salat had a dead taste (not fresh) to it. Pizza was like one you could buy in a supermarket. The burger was ok.

The food was not bad but not wow either. Poutine fries seemed undercooked slightly and seemed like frozen chips. Pizza was ok but not sure if pasta on pizza is the best. Burger was very nice but again homemade chips would have been better
