As we were the first table to arrive for lunch, after being ‘guarded’ until we had scanned in the Covid-19 QR Code I rather expected we would be placed near a window.
Standard stuff - make your venue look popular, but no - straight to the back.
Which was fine - warmer than sitting at a window. Obviously not cool looking enough.

Our server pointed out a QR code on the wall in order to view the menu. We’d looked before travelling. Hmm - what if you don’t bring a smartphone or have no clue how to use it? I don’t have a problem with the QR code - but rather the glib way it was shown. She then reeled off quite a number of changes to the menu which were not available only to realise that many were already off the menu. Surely a huge plus point of a web based menu is that you can sort that type of issue before opening the doors or part way through the day if you run out of items.

Food ordered. It did take a slightly longer time than expected given we were the first in. Another table of 5 had by now arrived.
We were ‘treated’ to the two waiting staff chatting and whining about other staff members and work procedures. Ehhh…

Having had only three spoons of very hot soup, finding our mains arrive and the other server apparently surprised at there being no space in the table explains the wait.
Basic idiocy. Have these people never been to another restaurant?
So now you feel rushed to eat the starter as the main is getting cold.
To’fish burger. Smoky taste but nothing else. Can’t recommend. Fries were good, but everything slipping about in cold sauce out of the burger bun.
Once the food was finished the original server was back to ask if we wished anything else. No was the response but the bill was then presented whilst I still had half a pint of beer left.
As soon as we rose - the card machine arrived.

Repeat visit? No way.
There are plenty better venues in Edinburgh. This place is an excellent corner location for someone who knows how to run a restaurant and put the right staff in place.
