That's how the game is meant to be - Edit
This is the kind of place I feel insipidly comfortable at home in. No bull, no pretence and no expectations. We had a couple of beers to start, the local orange infused IPA from Leith being a standout for me. Once I realised that banana blossom fish and chips was on the menu there was no option but to indulge. I also felt it quite appropriate to order a side portion of haggis with it being St Andrews Day. A small mac’n’cheese and mushroom scallops with bacon on black pudding and a garlic bread provided the final piece to an imaginary jigsaw that doesn’t even exist. Chuck in a couple of glasses of Italian white wine and this was a 30th of November meal to remember for all the right reasons but none that would make me think £699 is good value for a Lego Star Wars AT-AT that I spotted in the window of a close by toy store.

Fallen from grace - Edit
We used to go all the time when harmonium was in Leith and recommend it to anyone who asked, taking all our friends and family there whenever possible. The surf and turf night was our fave ⭐️
Read moreBut since moving out of Leith, its lost its charm. We’ve been a few times and it hasn’t got any better. On arrival, the guys behind the bar basically ignored us until finally they came over to show us our table. Our starters came at different times, one was on someone else’s table before finally getting to us, and our mains then came about an hour and a half after we arrived. [We had an early table booked mid week so it wasn’t like they were crazy busy!] No apologies or comments about the food coming out at different times or taking forever to arrive. When the food finally arrived however, it was very delicious. But by that point, we were so fed up we took a doggy bag home.

Pros: Yummy vegan food
Cons: The service is terrible , Getting more and more expensive each time we go. , No more mid week deals eg. surf and turf nights

Dire service and sadly as generally bad as the group’s Glasgow venues. Angry that it’s not blowing the doors off other places.

Lost its charm - Edit
It hurts me to write this. We used to LOVE this place! I mean love - find my old review and you’ll see. Since they moved to Broughton Street it’s all changed. Prices went up, service went the opposite way. We waited 1.5 hours before our mains were in the table … on a Wednesday night. They no longer do food & drinks deals, our starters came at separate times, we had our mains half packed up to go because it had been such a long wait. Even when we stood there waiting to be seated, three people stood behind the bar chatting, finishing their drinks and then washing their glasses (!!!) before coming over to seat us. Just not what it used to be - maybe they don’t have to try any more since they left Leith but our favourite restaurant became a place we don’t even recommend any more. Food however remains tasty and worth the money.

We had a really lovely evening at Harmonium. Very friendly place with an extensive menu featuring much more than just pizzas and burgers. As others have said the mushroom scallops were fantastic. The sxechuan fried rice was also amazing. Great drinks menu too!

I do like Harmonium but it has gone downhill in recent years. They seem to be gravitating more towards pizzas and burgers which you can get anywhere. That being said the macaroni is still excellent.

Stylish, relaxed and welcoming restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful. The entirely vegan menu was creative and delicious. Some of our group had a selection of the small plates meze style, some had burgers and one a pizza. Everyone enjoyed everything. Great selection of beer, wine, cocktails and soft drinks.

Great to get a free night before the official opening. Vic worked liked a star and the vegan Cullen skink was the highlight, although everything was great. So looking forward to the full menu.👍👍👍👍

Really enjoyed my meal at harmonium. In my opinion they do the best vegan food in town. Our party of two enjoyed the southern plate, Cajun fries, macaroni and one of the burgers.

EDIT - Went back for brunch. Despite not seeing the menu beforehand, the food lived up to expectations. Ordered the full Scottish breakfast and tofu scramble. Will need to try the waffles another time!

Overrated - Edit
I waited over 60 minutes for food and was not told it was going to take that long. I got my food and found it tasteless. The customer service was 2/10 and only at the very end that someone really bothered coming to check up on the table. I don't think I will be back for a long time.
