Not vegan, cross contamination issues - Edit
This restaurant is no longer vegetarian or vegan, and their ostensibly vegan options are not 100% vegan. You order from an iPad, not a person, so allergy issues cannot be communicated. My wife, who has a severe dairy allergy, got very sick from a vegan bowl with no obvious dairy source.

I’d like to clarify a few points to address your worries:
Dairy Sources & Cross-contamination: Dairy is only present in our coffee and dessert stations (for milk and ice cream). There is absolutely no dairy where we cook and build our meals. We’ve taken extra steps to ensure this, including having separate griddles and utensils specifically for our vegan proteins, which are placed on your plate at the end of the line to avoid any cross-contamination.
Kiosk Ordering: While you do place orders through a kiosk, we always have staff available to assist with any specific needs, including allergy concerns. We even have a call bell at the kiosk to make sure you can get help if we're busy.
Vegan Offerings: While it’s true that we’re no longer fully vegan due to the small size of the vegan community in our area, we are committed to offering vegan options. Our bowls and pockets remain fully vegan when you choose the vegan protein substitute, and all our dressings are vegan as well.

2024 update:They are no longer fully vegan, but I’m happy they are still in business. So many restaurants have had to adapt or close and we’d rather have them open. Our food was still delicious, and we were informed that all sauces are vegan and there’s a vegan version of pretty much everything. Most things can be made gf as well. They no longer have the gf wrap, which I was bummed about, but I got a bowl and it was good.

They claim to be 100% inclusive now by adding meat options. Vegan options are already 100% inclusive - adding meat to the menu doesn’t change that. While this is disheartening to see, the food was still good. At the time, (they seem to be in a transition) everything can be made vegan (with an optional meat substitute). There are lots of options here for vegans. We ordered online but they didn’t start making our orders until we got there - not sure if this is their policy or if they were busy. The food was tasty and the vegan meats were so realistic, it seemed very silly to add animal meat to the menu in the first place.

The portions are generous and the food was very fresh and neatly presented. Very clean restaurant and helpful staff. This place is INCREDIBLE. 10/10 would recommend. I was a little hesitant at first because I’m not vegan. But the food is so filling and genuinely satisfies you the way non vegan food does- but it’s even better because it’s super healthy and doesn’t make you feel so heavy. Their portions are super reasonable for the price- if you’re not super hungry- one portion could easily be 2 meals/ it’s very shareable. Honestly there’s nothing on the menu I wouldn’t recommend. The customer service was great too. Friendly, quick and efficient.
The reason for a 4-star rating (rather than 5) has to do with the food. We had a falafel wrap and a cauliflower hummus bowl and both were just mediocre, which was quite disappointing given the insanely high rating on Google.
I would certainly give Happea’s another chance but there are definitely way better vegan restaurants in Miami and in South Beach.
