Great Vegan options in Napier

Part of a health food store, Hapi has a ton of vegan options including a crazy-delicious vegan sandwich and tons of desserts. Best place we found in Napier.

Wonderful to eat and shop

I just got in to Napier last night, and was keen to find a place to get a vegan lunch. This place is perfect. I ordered a seitan sandwich and miso soup. Delicious.

OMG the vegan sandwich to die for

Amazing find. Plenty of seats, friendly staff and delicious vegan food. I had the vegan Sami with tempeh, avocado, grated carrot and cashew cheese on the most amazing seedy bread. Tickled all my tastebuds.

Pros: Food, Service, Ambience

Love Hāpi

It is delectable food.
Often delicate flavors.
More tempeh salads

Pros: Smoothies are incredibly delicious , Turmeric cashew milk latte served hot, Sushi is sublime

Cons: Not open for dinner, Sometimes raw slices are too sweet , I miss Hāpi being my local go to

Amazing ^__^

I was very awkwardly looking at everything because they have sooo many great looking vegan options and the staff kindly guided me into deciding on food – I ended up having a taco and a sniggers ($17 total) that were both 10/10!!! The portion sizes were very reasonable for the price and I will totally be returning soon to try more 🫂

Edit (28/11/22):
Have since tried mocha cheesecake and lemon lime cheesecake. Both fantastic also 💕

This is such a nice place to have breakfast, lunch or cofee and cake! I was disappointed the softserve machine was out if order the day I visited. I will just have to go back!

Breakfast options are cold.

I just want some porridge. Friendly people but vegan options for breakfast are pretty light.

Okay, but not great

I love their drinks however not so many options. And it’s not a health cafe. More meat options than vegan, and having someone eating chicken drumsticks next to you when you drink your chai latte is not the best.

Overall, could do with some improvement.

loved their ice cream

We ate at their cafe and it was very crowded but you could see why. Their food is incredible - they really focus on flavour and taste and everything we had was wonderful. Loved the ice cream the best because I love ice cream and it is not easy to get vegan soft serve.
Update 2021- the cafe has moved and is now in the Chantal store so there is a lot more seating now which is great. Maybe their amazing chef has gone too though. The food was fine but not as amazing as I remembered. Not the same level of flavours and textures that wowed me last time and fewer interesting options. We had a salad with bean sprouts but couldn't finish it as it was just like eating a punnet of straight bean sprouts. We had some other items that were ok. The tempeh sandwich was pretty good and the ice cream was as great as I remembered. But overall Hapi seems to have lost the wow factor for me.

You would be glad to know that they are well in truly open. They have moved into a larger shop down the road inside Chantels, I was there yesterday!

Happy however you spell it

I arrived later in the day, tired from a day of driving and half of the menu had already been eaten by their customers BUT, they team were so helpful with what was on offer and patient with me trying to make a decision. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. This along with the helpful team makes it an surefire thing that I will be recommending Hapi to all my friends

Dissapointed

I tried a tester of vegan cheesecake at the farmers market which was great. So I bought a piece, but it was so bland and kinda gross.

Cons: Bad taste , Expensive

Delicious discovery!

Spotted Hapi on the way back to our hotel. We were looking for something to take with us for dinner when we reached Wellington. The allergen free Food sign drew me in.

Pros: Tasty food / Gluten free bread, Lots of choice, Good value

A Great Breakfast....

The breakfast we had here was great quality. Spicy scrambled tofu on tasty in-house baked bread with creamy mushrooms & avo. Not cheap but quality shouldn't be anyway. Great coffee too.The cafe is dairy-free but more suited to paleo than vegan. Still some great options here to explore. Dining in should be using re-useable plates/cup/utensils though - save the landfills!

Pros: Helpful staff, Great quality food

Cons: Disposable/single use tableware is so wasteful!, Very limited seating - More suited for take-away e

Healthy little place

We had a nice lunch here two days ago of Chipotle scrambled tofu on toast. The bread was homemade and delicious, the tofu excellent but slightly too spicy for my husband and son. The only negative is that they only have very limited places to sit.

Pricy, organic takeout

Hapi is similar to Seize in Wellington - healthy, organic, gluten free and often raw, with quite a few vegan options. Our favorite was the tempeh satay sandwich ($10). Some of the items seem quite overpriced - $6 for a small slice, $8 for a juice, $1 for soy in an already expensive drink - so order wisely.
