Organic fresh produce - yay!

During my travels in NZ I as good as exclusively cooked my own food in kitchens connected with the cheap dorms I was sleeping in. This was quite limiting as the standard grocery store didn't have everything organic and especially not in single pieces (which becomes essential if you're moving around), thus finding Chantal was paradise! Finally everything was organic and sustainable and the range was so wonderful I walked around just looking and feeling at peace for a looong time. Their produce was excellent (got some amazing baby artichokes!) and apart from being well-fed I was also able to stock up on body and cleaning products. A bit expensive, but so was everything in NZ thus it was fine. Great store!

Pros: Organic and sustainable, Wide range

Fabulous

We enjoyed yummy breakfasts both days we were in Napier. The meals are BIG! Delicious freshly pressed juices to go with our meals too. The shop was full of a great variety of organic produce.

Nice shop and cafe

The shop is full of good produce, and the cafe is quite a cool place too. The menu is not huge but has some really nice vegan options. I had 2 times brunch there: muesli (that was delicious and HUGE), and the sautéed mushrooms with toast (very tasty).

Pros: Fresh, organic produce, Nice place

Cons: Not super friendly staff

Yummy fresh Vegan Food option

Set amongst a fantastic organic food store, "The kitchen" offers several vegan options such as tostadas, tacos, soup, te mata mushrooms, several salads and loads of vegan slices for dessert. I had the Te Mata Mushroom dish with cashew cream and toasted sour dough. It was absolutely delicious.

Pros: several vegan options, great atmosphere

Cons: slighlty on the expensive side. , coffee was average

Very good store

This store is a treasure chest. It has a small cafe inside offering many vegan raw cakes. The store itself sells many vegan products (vegan meat, cheese, yogurt, chocolate, ...), plus fresh vegetables, seeds, cereals, beauty and health products.

Great shop

Great shop with a variety of fresh organic fruit & veggies + occasional hard-to-find in NZ things like REAL DILL (no vinegar) German pickles. Lots of local and Aussie tofu and even seitan + nice soy yogurt. Organic juices, including biodynamics-certified grape juice. Heaps of organic health & cosmetics products, including Dr.Brenner's, packaging-less fragrant soap etc. It also has got a great 100% vegetarian cafe inside that serves salads, hot dishes, sandwiches, heaps of real leaf teas & delightful cakes + lots of seating room & reading stuff (see The Whole Food Kitchen).
Open until 5:30pm on weekdays & 2pm (check) Sat (see the cafe's hours separately).

Pros: Organic food & veg, tofu etc, Friendly stuff, Veg cafe
