Cute - Edit
I really enjoyed this little place. Good and healthy food and english speaking staff. Though currently it is right behind some roadworks, so the entrance is covered. I liked the interior, very cute.

eh, decrease the rating because of the roadworks as it is their fault? Portions are fair for this type of restaurant, i had a good dinner even i eat a lot :)

My favourite vegan place in Budapest!! - Edit
After living in Budapest for the last month, trying different places, this remains my absolute favourite! Consistently good, even my meat eating boyfriend loves it here. A must for vegans in Budapest!

A must-try vegan restaurant - Edit
We had an a la carte style lunch which consisted of peanut butter tofu, zuchinni fritters (with a nice dipping sauce), mashed potatos, and a colorful salad. Every item was delicious! The meal felt very fresh and nutritious yet did not compromise on flavor. The quantity was very generous too and it provided fuel for a long day's walk exploring Budapest, having walked over from the Buda side. I like that the food was unique and not typical 'western' vegan cuisine. Staff was very friendly and helpful with our ordering. Highly recommend!

Disappointed - Edit
First of all, there was no breakfast, raw cakws nor fresh smoothies available at the moment (we came for this and the description suggested this). Second, the atmosphere was not very pleasant, crowded, elevator music, weird kitsh "doll house" deco.... and third, the food. It was dry, cold, lifeless, tasteless. We had the lunch menu which was very unclear to me. It was overpriced for what it was, I could do much better myself at home. I just don't understand the hype about this place, if I could leave 1 star I would. Looooots to improve

it's a dual place, during office hours you can eat from menu, which is fine, but not too special. in the weekends you can order a la carte, these are more interesting meals, for double price

lovely breakfast place! - Edit
Finding somewhere which serves vegan food and opens earlier than 11am in Budapest is a challenge - Great Bistro opens at 8am and has a great range for breakfast. I had some lovely buckwheat pancakes with agave and cinnamon (you can have with jam and PB instead), and I've got my eye on the omelette for next time! They also do tofu bacon sandwiches. Only the breakfast menu was in English so I'm not sure what they do for lunch etc. Had a lovely rice milk coffee, and the fresh smoothies looked great too.

Amazing restaurant and service - Edit
I visited Great bistro while I was in Budapest and a guy by the name of Akos was very friendly and provided great customer service. I needed to wait for a friend to pick me up after the restaurant closed and he allowed me to stay waiting. The next day I visited the restaurant again and I had an amazing breakfast. Food taste delishious and they are very friendly. Akos again provided guideance for the city so that I can enjoy time in Budapest. I will visit again and I highly recommend visiting Great Bistro. Thanks Akos!

Nice vegan - Edit
There are so many awesome vegan places in Budapest, and this is one of them. Great Bistro is unique, though, because it's a bit more "upscale" than others. That is not to say that they are snooty or prim - this is a casual and welcoming place. Rather, their dishes are crafted a bit more delicately, which was a nice contrast to the lots of (awesome) fried and hearty vegan offerings that we've had elsewhere in Budapest.
Read moreWe ordered their chilled strawberry soup, saffron soup, risotto, and purple potato gnocchi. All of these were beautifully presented and had a nice balance of flavors and textures. Everything tasted great. The prices were a bit higher than we were used to in Budapest (especially given the modest portions), but it's because you're getting great quality. This is a nice spot for a date or if you're just looking for a more refined meal.
Pros: Presentation, Balanced flavors and texture, Bright, attractive interior

good food, good prices - Edit
They do a great vegan bacon sandwich which was amazing as bacon is one of the things I've missed as a vegan. Although the menu for breakfast is quite small but I found it to be a good quality food place.

I was really happy to find a vegan place open for breakfast!

We came here at 8am before our flight. Got the pancakes and vegan omlette for breakfast - was pretty good. We also asked for sandwiches for take away for our flight and because we were in a rush she made sure everything got prepared quickly. Great service and very friendly (and cheap ) would definitely come back again

We visited here for breakfast one morning and had a delicious coffee with soy milk and the chickpea omelette with tofu bacon and salad. It was delicious and the service was super friendly. We could not have asked for more. We would have visited again but they do not open on weekends which is a shame. Definitely worth a visit.
