Comfort food at its best - Edit
Good variety of cuisines with loads of vegan options. Food is not oily or heavy. Portion sizes are good. We tried the buffet once and it’s very filling with simple, wholesome and tasty food. The buffet is mainly Indian food. I LOVED the vegan lasagne and my husband felt that the hotdog hit the spot perfectly. Very family friendly.

Excellent but pricey - Edit
We went to Govinda’s for the first time for a late lunch (2 p.m) and the place was empty except for one other couple. Nice atmosphere and furniture except for fake plants. We ordered Palak Paneer (220 baht) and a starter (180 baht) and a regular rice bowl (40 baht). The portions were regular despite the higher than usual prices. The dishes were all very tasty and fresh - we greatly enjoyed them.

You need to go there ;) - Edit

Exceptional Indian Food - Edit
We had the buffet, which was a very reasonable 300B. There was a huge range of food on offer and it was extremely tasty and fresh. The food was honestly better than half the places I’ve eaten at in India! The setting is very relaxed and beautiful, with a similar vibe to Chiang Mai’s vegan cafes. The cafe is easy to find and close by to Aonang’s main attractions. I just wish this place had been here when we have visited Aonang before! Can’t wait to come back.

A must! - Edit
If you are in Ao Nang, this is a MUST visit vegan veggie restaurant! We went when they had an amazing buffet on: 300THB for all you want, with around 8 different curries to choose from, and only one was veggie as it had Paneer cheese in.

Should've gone here earlier! - Edit
Me and my partner doubted to visit this place because of a bad review we saw on Tripadvisor. We are very very cautious about the restaurants we go to because of the hygiene (one of us has UC so we are very careful). I wish we had just trusted the hundreds of good reviews and went at the beginning of our stay because it was lovely! So lovely, that we went for breakfast, dinner and the next day lunch again :) The owner is from Chile, as is his wife and children. Lovely people with kind hearts, the positivity is all around you in their establishments with quotes (see pictures I added) - very vegan-minded. We ordered the following things:
Read more- Burger - We read a couple of reviews about the burger being tasteless and hard. We disagree with this, it was very tasty! Maybe it isn't as soft as the burgers we are used to in Europe/USA, but bear in mind that you are in Thailand. Processed foods like burgers in vegan junkfood bars in western society aren't going to be here, you will eat natural food!
- Empanada - Absolutely lovely, very big and tasty. The pastry is the best, you will not find anything like it in TL!
- Soup - I forgot the name but in the menu it says it's medicinal. The bowl is massive and full of veggies, lovely taste and nice to share.
- Falafel&hummus wrap - Again, it is a very very big portion :D and we liked it very much. Good falafel!
- Hot dog - Please, don't leave Ao Nang before tasting the hotdog, it was sooo nice! The bun and the sauces made it perfect.
- Chicken wrap - This one seems to be new and I tried it today. I have to say, I didn't think it was anything like chicken but the taste was very very good. Don't expect it to be a replica of meat, it is just lovely tasty vegan food with a twist :)
Govinda's restaurant is up the high street to the right, near Umberto's Italian restaurant. They also have a big establishment where they have a buffet (this is more hindu-based) and they have Govinda on the beach (Railay) where we are going to tomorrow (excited!). If you upload your own review, please choose the right establishment as all three are different!
One more thing, I have read bad reviews because the Thai staff doesn't seem friendly. Please be aware that you are in another country, with different facial expressions and different behaviour. These people just do their job, customer service is very different here. Be grateful for a vegan venue and focus on the love they put in their dishes. Make sure to visit this place :D
Pros: Great vegan food, Positive vibes, Big portions

Really didn’t like burger. Tasteless and covered in mayo/sauce. Falafels and hummus I got to take away saved it. Might try again and pick differently from menu but disappointing first visit.

The food was tasty, good choice with both healthy and more indulgent foods available. The best thing by far was the chocolate custard pudding. Truly tasty, if you're craving something sweet it's not one to miss. Lovely staff.

food is just ok. - Edit
Western food in Thailand is not great in general. The soup was good. Custard was blah. Burger was bland and COVERED in mayonnaise. Vegan pizza was blah and had a mountain of dried Italian seasoning on it. Falafel was just ok. The waitress/ worker had a bad attitude from the second we got there (both times) and we had to flag her down every time we wanted something. To which she looked annoyed af every time. The place is literally tiny. There’s no way she didn’t know we needed stuff.

Place has potential - Edit
Small cafe just outside of town with friendly, English speaking staff. Same menu as at Govinda’s at the Beach, but this place has seating. Nice selection of dishes (approx. 10-15), fully vegetarian with quite a few vegan options. Unfortunately the food is not cooked fresh, but prepared before and then heated up to be served. It is not a proper restaurant experience therefore, which makes it difficult to compete with some of the delicious Thai restaurants in town. Great though if you’ve had enough of Thai food and crave a pizza, pie, falafel or wrap for an evening.
