Fast, convenient, tasty, with a large selection - Edit
A great find! Lots of typical deli choices on the vegan menu. The breakfast options are always available. Friendly staff. And some fun/unusual drink options too. Easy to get to, with covered/shaded picnic tables on the patio.

I am in Love with this Deli. There is a great Vegan menu, I have tried almost every item on the Vegan Lunch Menu. Trust me when I tell you that you will not be disappointed. Call and place your order, it is fresh ingredients and the order will be ready in just a few minutes.

Amazing deli - Edit
Tons of vegan options. Vegan Italian is literally the sub of my dreams. Small mom & pop shop - sometimes has vegan cupcakes too.

I would give 5 stars to this place if happy cow allowed! I got the Reuben and the sweet potato fries- they were mind blowing! I would definitely recommend coming out to this spot if you're in the DC area! The vegan menu is so extensive!

Great vegan options - Edit
I’ve been coming to Firehouse Deli for years, and it’s perfection every time. I only wish they had online ordering and were partnered with a delivery app. They have a lighted sign in their window with the word VEGAN. Makes me happy every time I see it. I love the vegan Reuben. My kids love the vegan meatball sub.

Amazing options - Edit
The vegan options at this place are delicious! I love their subs, and today I had their vegan breakfast sandwich (egg, sausage, cheese on brioche- all vegan! I added grilled onions and tomatoes). It was amazing and filling. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!

Delicious sandwiches! - Edit
Love their Italian Sub (without the hot chilis) with sweet potato fries! We enjoy taking them on road trips (they travel well w/ delicious zesty Italian dressing on the side), picnics or lunch any day we don't feel like cooking. All their sandwiches are great.

Great sandwiches - Edit
I loved the subs at this place - totally nostalgic. I favor the Italian sub but the turkey avocado is good as well. I can’t wait to try the Reuben one day. Prices are good and the owners and employees are exceptionally sweet. They have vegan baked goods available but I didn’t try them this time. Give this place a shot, you’ll love it.

Amazing sandwiches and fries - Edit
I am truly not sure how any vegan could review this place negatively haha. Their sandwiches are bomb!! I’ve tried allll types from so many places and this is one of my favorites. The Italian sub is so good and classic with that sub sauce on it. And the Reuben! So so good. I usually get both cuz I’m not close & love both so much, it lasts me two meals :). Also, they have the best fries!!!! Haven’t tried their other vegan options cuz I love these two so much.

Yummy Subs with some unique options - Edit
I received my sub to go, and the staff were very friendly and helpful with a recommendation. Also, they have a clearly marked separate vegan menu which is always appreciated. I ended up ordering the Italian Sub which is with vegan corned beef and turkey, cheese, mayo tomato and peppers. I thought it was very cool that vegan corned beef was on the menu, as I haven't seen this as a vegan option before. The sub was put together very well, had a lot of filling, and was quite tasty! It was a tiny bit soggy, but honestly for an $8 sub with several vegan meats and cheeses I think it is a good value. I would definitely eat here again, especially for a quick lunch. It's a great option if you're looking for a cheap vegan sub option that isnt just veggies like at subway or other chains.

Plenty of vegan options - Edit
Firehouse Deli is a regular deli that also stocks commercially available vegan meats and cheeses. They can make almost any of their regular sandwiches vegan and the result are pretty good. I'm partial to the Italian, Reuben, and Meatball Sub.
Read moreNo, it's not particularly healthy, but then again, it's a deli -- none of the food at a deli is particularly healthy. Don't come to Firehouse Deli if you're on a whole-foods plant-based diet, because... It's a deli :)
Pros: Lots of options, Friendly staff
Cons: Not particularly healthy, Menu is confusing, Lots of plastic

unassuming deli with vegan options - Edit
I only ate at this deli once but I was pleased with what I ordered. I got both a meatball sub and an italian sub - veganized. I can't say it was the best thing I've ever eaten, but if you are in the area and in the mood for a deli classic made vegan, give it a try. It is kind of tucked away in a commercial office park so it is not the easiest place to find.

Vegan options better made at home - Edit
Just because you're in the area, it doesn't mean you want to eat here. The menu is confusing from on-line vs in-store for the vegan options. It's pretty haphazard if you ask me. The organization of the items on the counter denote as much. On the side, a few notes about menu items, which includes things like sushi on it. The counter display case is also rather unorganized. Not good signs for food.
Read moreThankfully... The vegan items are just frozen meat analogues, bread and vegan cheese/ sauce/ veganaise/ lettuce/ tomatoes. You can add avocado or mushroom or green peppers for $ .50 more. There is a pretty regular stream of people, but they mostly grab a quick drink and snack.
If you use a card, they purport to charge you $.25 if it's under $5. The cups are styrofoam. There's a sign that states $.35 for a large cup of ice.
The space is small, but there are 4-5 tables inside and 3 outside. Parking is easy.
The food is mediocre at best. It's really like going to Trader Joe's and warming up the fake meat, adding on a condiment or two from the RJ's condiment section, and placing it inside toasted or un-toasted store bought bread. It is junk food, really. Nutritional value is low.... I would not come back here if I was in the area and starving. I would just drive to the Trader Joe's or head to somewhere with good food!
Pros: Vegan meat substitutes, Easy parking
Cons: Better food made at home, Not healthy

I would be inclined to ignore this review if other users are hesitant to visit based off of this. This review is quite old at this point and seems the sandwich shop has come a long way in its vegan subs since! I would definitely recommend visiting again.
