Buffet heaven and amazing menu

I have been here so many times, but every time, I am so happy. The trick is to go for the weekend buffet - it is about $15 then tax and tip.

Ok, sure, it is about $20, but, you have so many choices.

There is salad. There is a puri station - oh my goodness, there is a puri station. There are 2 soups: sambar and some other one (rasam?). There is stir fry. There are curries. There are veggies- green beans and eggplant. There are iddly (lentil donuts) and utthapam (thick savory pancakes). There is biryani. There are dosas. There are protein sources/ legumes /fake meat (dal, chick peas). There is something for everyone.

It is so good, you will be very happy you went. If you are vegan, ask for what you can vs. cannot eat. If there is paneer in it, don't eat it. The rice dishes may also have dairy. The desserts have honey and/or dairy. Don't be afraid to ask - then, just be aware, and you'll be fine.

If you order from the menu, you'll also be pleasantly surprised. The food offerings here are too numerous to choose from including idly, dosas, pakora, curries, pullav, uppatum and Indo-Chinese dishes. Better go in a group to share more! They have the best, fluffiest basmati rice, and I love it! The entrees are very generous portion sizes, so you will not be disappointed. Loved it all!

Amazing

I went with my vegan daughter hubbie and I. Hubby and I are both omnivores. It was outstanding! Plenty of vegan options as well as vegetarian options that were very satisfying (hard not to be full with Indian food). The samosas were huge and mom ordered Samosa Chaat which was awesome. Their Dosai were fab. Great atmosphere very classy for Gaithersburg.

Pros: Samosas & dosas, They have good pickle, Great Upcounty location and atmospere

Cons: No garlic Naan?

Bucket list worthy

The weekend buffet is an absolute must. The offering varies from week to week but always very well done. Distinctly Indian in tone with a large Indian following as a testimony of its authenticity.

Excellent Indian Buffet

We went to Woodlands while visiting my husband's family who live in Silver Springs. His mother had made us a large Indian breakfast, so we weren't very hungry only 2-3 hours later, but they told us it was time for lunch. I went in expecting to get a tea and not much more, and then saw the massive buffet, and quickly learned it was all vegetarian. The aroma of the food and the look of the vast buffet drew me in!

The buffet was massive! It has a make-your-own chaat bar station, as well as at least twelve different appetizer and entree foods. Food was continuously well-stocked, and as soon as something neared the bottom, it was replaced. There is something for everyone here! Everything came very well-spiced, but nothing was too spicy that you needed to chase it with lots of water.

I'll note it was packed when we arrived, but we were still seated almost immediately. As soon as we got up to get second (and third) helpings from the buffet, our plate was immediately cleared to make way for our new one. We didn't pay for the meal, but were told it was $11/person. I can't confirm that by looking at their website, but if it's true, this is a fabulous deal, as you leave extremely stuffed and satisfied.

Amazing! Worth venturing from the beaten path!

This place is awesome. It's great for dinner, but the weekend lunch buffet really takes it to another level! It’s much bigger than most Indian lunch buffets and has different kinds of Indian food- northern, southern, and Indo-Chinese.

If you’ve never had southern Indian food, you must get the Masala Dosa! That’s what I always get when I’ve gone for dinner, and it’s also available as part of the buffet. They also have northern Indian dishes, that is, the type of Indian food served by default by most Indian restaurants in the US. And this is one of few places you’ll find in the DC area that serves Indo-Chinese food, that is, “Chinese food” evolved for Indian tastes. I recommend the weekend lunch buffet because you can try everything.

Weekend lunch buffet hours are 11:30am-3pm. I couldn’t find this specified anywhere online, so I asked them.

I think this place isn’t always on the radar of DC’s vegetarian/vegan crowd, which is a real shame because it’s amazing. It’s out of the way for a lot of people and not in a public transit friendly location. You’ll find it in a strip mall off of New Hampshire Ave.

I believe it’s part of an international chain, including a location in Fairfax, VA, which is good because everyone should eat here!

Pros: Large weekend buffet, Indo-Chinese food!

Cons: Not public transit friendly

Yummm

Had dinner here when I visited DC. Staff were very helpful in making sure what we ordered was vegan. The Bhel Puri and Guthi Vanki (eggplant dish) in particular were fantastic. We were all totally stuffed for about $15 each!

Pros: Good Prices, Extensive Menu

Delicious south Indian food

As good as it gets - we've been to their weekend buffet twice and it's more than worth the drive from Baltimore. It even tops my Indian brother-in-law's mom's homecooking. Buffet is huge and plentiful and fresh and even includes dosa, but you better get them quick - they're brought out every 5-10 minutes and immediately scooped up. They even have a separate table for an extensive array of chaat. So many choices, all delicious and all vegetarian! Location is in a busy strip mall and the restaurant fills up quickly; website doesn't provide hours but they open at 11:30.

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly staff, Abundance of choices

Cons: crowded, not close to a metro stop, Hours aren't on website

Dinner

Went for dinner with family. LOVED it. Wonderful food with wonderful service. They forgot to give us puris and so brought us extra. Their vegetable biryani was awesome. I also greatly enjoyed their dahl.

Pros: Great service, Good taste

Cons: Portion not very big

The best

In the Washington metropolitan area, Woodlands is hard to beat. The food is excellent, and the service and atmosphere is good. The location is in a strip mall managed by idiots, so ignore the strip except the restaurant and have a very good vegetarian meal.
