Good vegan options

Wow! I planned to eat here again. I hate to hear they're now closed. I ate here in the past and found them to have decent vegan options. My meal tasted pretty good.

Yes! A new find.

We had no clue this place existed and was under our noses the whole time (We used to go to Bellagreen just across the street and get their very limited options). It is a sea of options here for vegans! I’m gonna have to try them all! I had the Seaweed Club that was pretty good (tuna sandwich style) and my husband had the falafel which was incredible. We also ordered the veggie dumplings (special of the day) which were very greasy but tasty. The white bean soup was really good. I could have eaten just that!

Pros: Tons of vegan option, Super genuine and friendly staff

Not Always Vegan, Ask First

Though this places offers many vegan options, including vegan gluten free bread for sandwiches and burgers, when asked about the brand of bread used, the counter staff and chef said Glutino. When I told them this bread brand uses egg whites, they had no idea. I can't imagine how many people have eaten here trusting the meal they chose was indeed vegan, as advertised. Ask carefully, as they even said their breading and marinades were either vegan or gluten free, when they weren't.

Pros: many vegetable and vegan options.

Cons: False advertising, food is not necessarily vegan,

Relaxed dining and raw-vegan options

There are a lot of opinions about this place: the ambiance, the flavoring of the food, etc. As always, here's mine.

I was pleased with my entire experience. The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is because i've had the same meal at a different place done better. But otherwise i'm happy.

The decor is a little scarce. Some nice comfy chairs/couches would certainly give FoG a nice living room style atmosphere, but I chose to sit outside in the sun and couldn't have been happier. So leave their decor alone.

Food wise, I had the Rainbow Veggie Platter (under the raw vegan section (also nice they had that, plus cooked vegan, AND even non-vegan dishes for your carnivorous friends)). I added a side of the bean curd protein, that comes with the appetizer raw tacos, to this order, just to give it some extra crunch and protein. Great choice. Piled on the veggies - tomato, cucumber, guac, cabbage, tabloui, beet salad, etc. All wrapped in a romaine lettuce leaf it's a fresh, flavorful dish that fills you with only goodness.

If I had to suggest something else, I'd say the Macro platter. Looked great with steamed veggies, tofu quiche (oh boy) and others.

Staff was friendly, no pressure to eat slow or fast (you pay when you order, cafeteria style) and you're good to go

Pros: Large menu, lots of choices, Quiet atmosphere, Great food!

Cons: Decor lacking vibrance

clean, friendly & fresh

We are here twice in our 5 day Houston visit. Had the macrobiotic plate the first time & the garden veggie burger with salad & fries the second & thoroughly enjoyed both. Staff are super friendly & helpful. They have various soups each day, tried the split pea and it was wonderful.

Pros: bright & clean, delicious , variety including raw options to French fries

My favorite vegan food in town!

I would give this 5 stars, but the app won't let me because it isn't 100% vegan. There is a very small non vegan section the food is mainly and clearly marked vegan. I've gone here for a long time and I am always satisfied! I love their burgers, like Eden and the seaweed club, and the green pasta. They have great flavors and service! My non vegan friends that I bring are even extremely impressed. I come often and will continue to come often. I crave their food constantly, and it's vegan!! Great desserts too!

Soy Ice Cream!!!

This place is one of my favorite vegan restaurants in the Houston area. It is mostly vegan, but don't worry because you can easily tell what is vegan and what is not. I come here sometimes with my boyfriend, who is a meat eater, and he still loves to eat the vegan dishes over the non-vegan dishes. There is a huge variety of options on the menu, too. All of the sandwiches and burgers they offer are super tasty. The California club is my favorite. The fries they have are by far the best fries I have ever had. I just love their seasoning so much. However, I need to talk about their soy ice cream. Their ice cream is easily my most favorite vegan ice cream that I can find in the Houston area. To me their ice cream tastes EXACTLY like Blue Bell's Homemade Vanilla. I even took some for my parents to eat one day and they could not stop raving about it. I have to get it every time I come. The staff is super friendly. I love seeing their smiling faces every time I come in. Come eat here. You will not regret it!

Pros: Delicious food, Friendly staff, Soy ice cream

Cons: Limited parking

Simple, Healthy Food

Field of Greens is mostly vegan and serves up "old school", simple vegetarian fair. The food is non-fussy, heavy on steamed vegetables, rice, beans, tofu, etc. I enjoy the Macrobiotic platter, which includes rice, beans, streamed veggies, kale with tahini sauce, seaweed, daikon, and a couple of small tofu patties that they call tofu quiche. It also comes with a cup of soup. It's all very filling and healthy. There are also raw dishes, a few other veggie platters/entrees, sandwiches, and tofu burgers. The juices are good. They offer dessert, but I have not tried it.
There are just a few non-vegan fish meals, which seems a bit odd to me as the rest of the large menu is vegan. I have been here a couple of times and will probably return the next time I'm in Houston.

Pros: Healthy options, Big menu

Good Vegan Spot

Everything I ordered was very tasty. It's extremely flavorful and most items are truly vegan so no substitutions needed. There are several non vegan items so you can take your non vegan friends to this spot. Parking is a little limited when the restaurant is busy, which on the weekends, it typically is. They have a variety of vegan desserts (amazing cupcakes) so they get bonus points for that. The buffalo cauliflower "wings" were a must have! Those were soooooo good!! The Mediterranean bowl I ordered was great too (specifically the "walnut" pesto or hummus like stuff that was in the center. I absolutely loved it!). My only complaint about this place is that when they are busy the service can be less than stellar. My waitress took 15 minutes to even bring us waiter and then came back only once to check on the table. We waited another 15 minutes for our check. They just seem young and kind of loopy. The food is the redeeming quality though and since food vegan food is hard to come by in Houston, I have to still give this spot 4 stars. Just go there expecting the service to be average at best.

Pros: Variety of Vegan Options, Vegan Desserts Offered too!, Very Tasty

Cons: service can be slow and Mehh

Field of Greens, a vegan favorite

Most of the menu is labelled vegan, with a few vegetarian items (cheese) and a fish dish. The food is wonderfully tasty...the seasoning on the fries is amazing, and the creamy garlic dressing on the salad is so delicious :) :) I enjoy getting the bite sized vegan cupcakes for dessert when they have them!

Pros: Excellent food, Nice portions, Mostly vegan

Cons: Expensive

Mainly vegan

Very laid back, casual restaurant with very good, tasty mostly vegan menu. Had not been there in a while, since there are some 100% vegan restaurants nearby, and I choose to support those. Recent lunch trip to FOG. Had a tasty, filling falafel sandwich on pita with tahini and sprouts, with a side of tomato basil soup, for less than $12.00 so very affordable.
Non veg offerings are a couple of fish dishes, and honey in the BarBQ sauce. Seating indoor and out.
Next door to charming Path of Tea shop, where one can also dine.

Pros: Mostly vegan, Affordable, Convenient location

Cons: Not 100% vegan, Serves fish

Very Good and a ton of Vegan Options

Lets face it our Vegan options are pretty slim here in Houston so i was very happy and surprised to find this place. It has a good ambiance and the staff is very friendly on top of having a very large vegan menu so no shortage of options. I had the enchiladas which were pretty good.

Great Food

I moved about 90 miles away from Houston into the Big Thicket a few years ago where its genuinely hard to find a restaurant with vegetarian options much less vegan menu choices. Whenever my wife and I happen to be in Houston we look for a restaurant that offers a vegan menu. My wife found Field of Greens searching the web. This casual restaurant has a pretty varied menu with appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and deserts. All menu items are clearly marked as either vegan, vegetarian, or containing meat. The menu is definitely weighted toward vegan with only a couple of opens with animal products in them.

I had vegan wheat roast fajitas and my wife had vegan tamales. Both were incredible. We also shared a plate of fries with tofu picante sauce. It was super Yummy. The portion sizes were just rite as well and although its not fast food chain prices its very reasonable for freshly made fare.

The place has a smallish but adequate indoor seating area with a few tables outside in front of the restaurant on their sidewalk area. Patrons order at the counter but the food is brought out to your table by the staff. We will definitely be back to Field of Greens when in Houston.

Pros: Great Menu with lots of choices, Friendly Staff

healthy lunch or dinner

I like this place. When we lived in Houston, this was a go-to place for a casual sit down dinner. Field of Greens has some creative dishes - I especially liked quinoa subbed for noodles with pesto and vegetables! The best part about Field of Greens is that it is not greasy, in comparison with nearly all other vegan food in Houston. Thank you for the healthy options!

Pros: healthy, creative, tasty

Nice Lunch

I had lunch here recently, a veggie pita with French fries. It was tasty enough but small for the price. Also tried the carrot cake for dessert, which was absolutely delicious! Easy to find and easy to park. Friendly service. I'm not sure why I was expecting it to be a full service restaurant, but you order at the counter. Nice to have so many vegan options on one menu.

Delicious Meal

We had lunch at Field of Greens on August 29th 2013 while passing through Houston. It was highly recommended by an 'almost vegan' friend.

Food was delicious, selection/choices nice. The restaurant is large with lots of seating. WiFi accommodations.

Service was friendly and quick.

Pros: Delicious Food, Friendly Fast Service, Good Selection

Cons: None!

Almost all vegan w/ healthy delicious food

The fact that they are listed as veg-friendly is deceptive, because their new menu is probably 90% vegan. Their menu is listed vegan sandwiches, vegan entrees, vegan salads, and then a small non-vegan section (which has one salmon dish, I think). The food is really good. Obsessed with their tofu fries, their California club sandwich and seaweed club are delicious! Not super unhealthy either! I go a lot! Better than many all-vegan places.

Pros: Great food, TOFU FRIES, Almost all vegan

Cons: Not all vegan

Great Variety of Veg Dishes

I have been dining at Field of Green's since they opened. Originally they were a totally vegetarian restaurant with Chef Randy at the helm, who used to be with A Moveable Feast. Currently I believe they are about 80-90% vegetarian with many vegan dishes.

Through the years I have not once been disappointed with my dishes. I have tried most of their dishes and they have a very large variety of veg meats to choose from. I especially like their vegan pork and vegan fish. Their macrobiotic plate is a favorite, which I order regularly. Also, the vegan barbecue is very delicious. Lastly, I love their smoothies.

The vibe has changed from when they first opened. It used to be that they had this wonderfully eccentric waitress who gave the greatest vibe as well as jazz music predominantly being played in the background. It was relaxing and made we want to stay and visit.

Things have changed some but all in all you will not be disappointed. A great spot for fresh vegetarian food.

Pros: Variety, Fresh, Great veg meat selection
