Why no vegan meat? - Edit
Had to try Fergburger because of its legendary status. The tofu burger was pretty good but tbh not sure what all the fuss is about.
Read moreVeggie burgers are such a ubiquitous vegan option on NZ menus that it’s hard to be impressed. Especially when no one is offering something like a Beyond burger option. Was expecting more from such a cult institution.
Pros: Tasty tofu burger, Quick grab and go option
Cons: Not many seating options, Crowded by people eating dead animals

Two vegan burgers - Edit
Tried both vegan options and they were both delicious! Enjoyed the falafel one slightly more but maybe because it had avo in it. Remember to tell them to veganise it so they change the sauce and add chutney. Luckily we only had to wait 10-15 mins for our food.

Best burger in town - Edit
I’ve had both the vegetarian tofu and falafel burger. Maybe sure to ask about any dairy in lemon yoghurt and aioli.

Ed Sheeran may have lied - Edit
Lucky enough to have not had to wait long at all and find a seat easily in front of a framed
Read morePoster of the Fergburger logo signed by Ed Sheeran stating that the burgers are “the best in NZ”. I don’t know about ~best~ but they were good and the only burger in NZ I have tried so far. I got the tofu burger made vegan and the lay added extra mango chutney and some vegan ranch sauce (or something similar). The tofu was delicious! I ended up dipping it in the bbq sauce I got with the fries I had. The serving sizing were massive and I couldn’t eat it all but it’s great for the price ($13 for the burger and $4.50 for fries). Beers on tap are $5 if that’s your thing!
Staff are really nice and patient with people who aren’t coming to collect there orders and also willing to check ingredients!
Pros: Some vegan options, Staff happy to help out with allergy needs
Cons: Not that many vegan options

Great falafel burger - Edit
The line for Fergburger is insane but they definitely do great veganised tofu and falafel burgers. That's the only two options you have available but definitely worth trying when you're out with non-vegan friends.

Easily Veganised Burgers - Edit
Even though they are phenomenally busy, it is never a hassle at Fergburger to veganise their burgers. Both the tofu and falafel burger are delicious and staff are knowledgable regarding changes required to make these burgers vegan and readily offer alternatives. Worth a visit, but arrive early to avoid a very long wait!

Great Burger - Edit
The protein in Holier Than Thou made Fergburger one of my favourite local burgers. Definitely worth a visit if you are a vegan in the area!

I’ve had better - Edit
Had the tofu burger and it was incredibly average. This burger joint would probably benefit from looking into creating vegan alternatives to their western style burgers. Gooey vegan cheese on a fake meat patty probably would’ve been a better menu choice. Also, I was disappointed to find that they refused to provide alternative sauce options for their fries. They had aioli, wasabi mayo and bbq listed etc, so I asked if I could get their vegan chipotle mayo on the side with my fries instead but they bluntly told me no, it’s only for the burgers... despite their menu stating that alternatives could be provided if you notify wait staff of dietary requirements? Confusing and slightly exclusionary.

Doesn't live up to the hype - Edit
2 veggie burgers which can be made vegan, falafel is the better of the two but honestly both mediocre. Not worth it for vegans, certainly not if you have a long line up.

It’s difficult to meet the hype - Edit
We had the Holier Than Thou vegan tofu burger and had heard Fergburger made the best burgers on the planet. Big call!! And coming from what’s turning into an incredible foodie scene in Melbourne, they had some big shoes to fill. Unfortunately for Ferg, they didn’t quite get there.
Read moreThey said they couldn’t do the satay sauce for it to be vegan, which seems odd. We couldn’t work out what’s normally added to the satay as, other than perhaps fish sauce, you wouldn’t tend to make it with dairy. But OK cool, whatever. 🤷♂️ They swapped it with a mango chutney and vegan chipotle mayo.
The burger arrived, and the first thing I noticed was the presentation. It looked like a fish and chip shop burger. Maybe it’s like a gourmet version? It didn’t look like the world’s greatest burger. But it made up for that by being enormous—perhaps too much.
The mango sauce was nice, but there wasn’t enough and it wasn’t anything standout. I couldn’t even taste the chipotle mayo.
There was a lot of tofu, which again, tasted nice, but it also didn’t standout.
The chips were fine and hit the spot, but yet again, nothing to write home about.
It was a nice burger. But compared to some particular cafés in Melbourne? No, it’s definitely not the world’s greatest burger, or even the best one I’ve ever eaten. Those cafés make eye candy food that will absolutely blow your socks off in the taste department.
Given that, we’re very glad we went at midnight when we didn’t have to queue for an hour. There are much better cheap eats in Queenstown if you look.
Pros: Vegan options available
Cons: Taste and in particular the sauces were lacking, Always busy and exceedingly over-hyped by tourists, Presentation wasn’t up to the mark

Delicious burgers! - Edit
Two burgers that can be made vegan. Has vegan chipotle aioli and mango chutney that can be added. They have to sub out the sauces that are in the vego burgers because they aren’t vegan which is a bit annoying but good options regardless. Their tempura tofu burger is amazing!

They don’t have a vegan, gluten free bun which meant that none of the vegan burgers were an option (unless I wanted them without a bun).

You don’t really need this kind of food w*nk in your life. With a burger named the above, vegan/vego money must be worthless to Big Ferg.

Worth queueing for - Edit
This was just what I needed exhausted from traveling. The queue is huuuuge in the evening but for good reason! There are a few options for vegans and I swapped some non-vegan ingredients for extra avo. They’re really accommodating and with the amount of veggie stuff they already do, I’d be surprised if they don’t come up with an all-vegan offering soon :)

Even if they have vegetarian options that you can make vegan, I think that it's fame responds more to a good marketing campaign than to the quality of it's food. If you still want to try it, of course you will. I wouldn't suggest it. Vegan burgers are ok, but the place is smelling dead meat all day long. BTW, I think "Holier than thou" is not a kind name.

I had the tofu burger. Waited 30min for it. The size was huge but no flavour or seasoning what so ever. They were supposed to put a chipotle sauce on my burger but didn’t. Overall disappointing from the hype it was given..

I was expected something way better after this looooong wait but the vegetarian burger was pretty average. So were the fries. Staff is nice despite the crowd, but it is so packed with people that you cannot really eat on the place.
