Vegans are not welcome - Edit
My vegetarian colleague and I both love Thai food, so we chose this restaurant for our dinner and expected a nice experience.
Read moreThe menu indicates the papaya salad as vegan, but the green and the red curry seemed to be vegan as well according to the allergens that were indicated, and I chose the green curry while my colleague ordered the red curry. We were served the green curry and the papaya salad, though, with the words "green curry and the vegan salad", and the owner stressed the word "vegan", so I asked if the curries were not vegan. In that case, I would have kept the salad even if it was not what I ordered.
This was when things became rather unpleasant.
The owner reacted in a very unfriendly way and asked me if I hadn’t read the menu.
I said that I had done so but that there weren’t any non-vegan allergens given for the curry and that usually it was a vegan meal. I enquired if it had cow‘s milk in it because that could be the only non-vegan ingredient. The owner started a discussion in a loud and aggressive way and during it he said that the curry wasn‘t vegan because it had coconut milk in it (LOL). He also told me that usually he sent vegans away because there were millions of vegan restaurants in Prague.
We should have left at that point, but we were hungry and tired, and we were just too surprised to react.
I remained calm and respectful throughout the encounter, but still I was so shocked that I forgot to take pictures of our meal.
The owner brought us the red curry and we ate both of our curries. They tasted fine, but the portions were small and we have definitely had better red/green curries before.
When we received the bill, we were charged for the salad and had to talk to him to get our money back since we obviously hadn‘t ordered it.
The vibe of this restaurant was not nice and the behaviour of the owner felt intimidating to us.
