Great Vegan Options - Edit
They offer seitan guisado and empanadas/carimañola with soy protein. The server even provided us with vegan hojaldre. I’ve saved this spot as a favorite in Panamá City.

Food is great. All fresh and local ingredients. Typical panamanian food with a modern twist. Adorable chef that clearly explains the dishes.

Fantastic meal and cooking class! - Edit
The restaurant is in such a great location. The meal was fresh and delicious, with options available for everyone! My family loved our dinner so much we decided to do the cooking class they offer at the restaurant. The class was such a special experience! It was so fun to be able to learn how to make traditional Panamanian food all vegan! Would highly recommend dining and taking the cooking class :)

Delicious! - Edit
This spot is located right in the main plaza and had several vegan options on the menu! My friend and I split the lentil croquettes and the seitan plates. Both were served with rice, beans, plain rains and salad! It was a delicious introduction to Panamanian cuisine!

Delicious Traditional Panamanian with vegan options - Edit
Excellent vegan options. Menu has clearly marked vegetarian options but can be made (and might even already be) fully vegan. It’s hard to come by traditional Panamanian food with vegan options beyond patacones but not here!

Outstanding - Edit
Several vegan choices. The staff had a complete unrestrained understanding of 'vegano.' Very authentic choice. Convenient location. Will come back!

Amazing Panamian vegan options - Edit
El Nacional kept us coming back almost every day with their robust vegan food that was thoughtfully prepared and truly Panamanian. They offer 2-3 vegan appetizers, plus vegan soup and 2 vegan main dishes (possibly more by the time you read this). We loved:
Read more1. Croquetas de lentejas, lentil croquettes (crisp on the outside, warm and comfort-foody on the inside, with rich red sauce on top) with coconut rice, cabbage salad, sweet plantain, and
2. Seitan guisado, a vegan alternative to the Panamanian specialty ropa vieja, with all of the added sides listed in #1.
Also the ceviche de yuca, served with plantain chips, is so tasty that we ordered it as an appetizer every time.
The service is really warm and friendly, with owners who speak both Spanish and English (and maybe more). The friendly servers started to recognize us and remember our orders, which is really sweet when you’re traveling in a big city.
Finally, the location can’t be beat, as it’s in a historic building in Casco Viejo overlooking a beautiful plaza and cathedral.
Oh, and there’s live music many evenings. ¡Buen provecho! #Veganuary
Pros: Charming service, Commitment to vegan cuisine , Historic location
Cons: Too far away from my home in U.S.
