Really great - Edit
The vegan menu was sat on top of the register when we got there. The woman who helped us was very accommodating of our bad spanish and stepped in with english when we couldn't keep up. I got the enfrijoladas and my partner got sopes. Both were really delicious. Bean based rather than fake meat. The tortillas were thick and fresh.

Pros: Full, separate, vegan menu, Really fresh and tasty

Fresh, traditional Mexican—and vegan - Edit
Colorful Mexican market in downtown Gilroy with the restaurant in the back. Vegan menu was developed by the owner after he went vegan—vegan dishes are prepared in separate cookware.

AMAZING MEXICAN FOOD - Edit
Wow this place is amazing.
Read moreLocated inside a market, the entire left side of the store is the restaurant where you can ask for the separate plant based menu. I didn’t get a picture, but the menu was much larger than the picture of it on here. Seems like they have expanded their plant based options. They also have vegan cakes in their cooler for purchase.
I ordered the papas enchiladas. Everything was amazing. Only thing I would change is to add more salt to it all as it lacked a little but it was still wonderful.
They also give you a verde and a rojo sauce to add onto your dishes and both are super delicious. Beans and rice were the perfect consistency.
Decent prices and they serve you a lot of food. I couldn’t finish my plate and I hadn’t eaten anything for 9 hours prior so I was super hungry.
Staff is very sweet and informative as well.
Don’t pass this place up. I will definitely be coming back.

Delicious food and incredibly nice people - Edit
Feb 2022 UPDATE: The food is still wonderful and the staff is still incredibly sweet. We ate here on both segments of a family road trip, a few days apart, and when I ordered the same thing (huaraches con salsa roja) on my second visit, the señora asked me, "vegano otra vez?" I was thrilled to be remembered - I'm not especially notable looking, she is just that nice. She prefers to speak Spanish, and while my Spanish is still terrible, I'm always delighted for the opportunity to practice without feeling like I'm wasting someone's time. My omnivore family also wants everyone to know that the meaty dishes are good too, so if you need to feed a mixed crowd, here you go. If I lived closer I'd come here every week.
Read moreJAN 2020 REVIEW: The food is terrific and the staff is so sweet. I'm so glad people are finding this place through Happy Cow! I added it a few months ago and now that I've been twice, it's time to review.
I leadfooted it up from San Luis Obispo and arrived ten minutes before closing, but the señoras were incredibly nice about it- not only did they make me a splendid tacos dorados plate to go (crunchy tacos with beans and potatoes and pico de gallo, plus rice and beans), but they brought me a bowl of warm chips and salsa while I waited, *and* put up with my terrible Spanish. The chips are obviously homemade from homemade tortillas, and as golden and flaky as a good croissant (as are the shells of the tacos dorados). And the salsa is fantastic- cool and spicy, with both tomatoes and tomatillos.
Last time I was here I got the huarache- essentially a long flat cornflour pancake stuffed with beans and topped with salsa verde and onions- I am a huarache fan and it was one of the best I've had. I also spent a long time mulling over the vegan menu, and when I ordered the huarache the server made sure I knew that it usually came with dairy cheese- and that I could get it without. Sweet folks and great food. The other half of the business is a small grocery, so while you wait for your food you can stock up on local avocados or cacahuetes japoneses.

GF AND Vegan Options - Edit
This place is a total gem just north of downtown Gilroy, I’ve included a photo of the menu, but they also have a specific vegan menu they’ll get for you upon request. They’re also very accommodating when it comes to gluten sensitivity (all of what we ordered was gf/v: potato enchiladas **with delicious red sauce**, potato tamales, tofu veggie scramble, plantains for dessert, fresh squeezed OJ).
Read moreAsk for extra red sauce, it was good with the tamales.
All of the staff were so helpful and friendly, we’ll definitely stop in again next time we make the drive up to SF.

Ordered the potato Enchilada’s with red sauce. The plate comes with rice and refried beans. The red sauce on the enchiladas with exceptional along with the flour tortillas. However the potatoes inside could’ve used some seasoning. Definitely will try this place again
