Nice Option

We enjoyed our meal. It was a bit expensive like most places around. The staff was friendly over the phone and in person for our take out order. The staff seem to understand vegan. We were able to park in the parking lot beside the restaurant however there is also parking across the street and Safeway is a short walk away.

$13.00 Mushroom Poblano with Mole Blanco Sauce: Surprisingly good option. Nice flavor, kind of sweet and spicy (prefer a little less spice). Came with corn tortillas and quinoa which I believe makes it gluten free. It was a bit pricey but large enough to share.

$2.17 Side of Mole Blanco Sauce: We got this in lieu of vegan queso as they do not have vegan queso. It's not the same flavor as queso but a nice sub. The staff advised if you wanted an amount similar to their queso it would be 3x the size of this side, so also 3x the price. We were happy with the amount.

$3.00 Chips and Salsa: The Salsa was really fresh and delicious. I would have preferred less spice but it wasn't overbearing. The chips were corn tortilla chips, they were thick restaurant style. They didn't have very much salt, they tasted a bit old and were just ok.

Overall this is a good option for vegan food in Estes Park and we appreciated that it was large enough to share.

Pros: Flavorful Vegan options, Affordable chips and salsa , Can share one serving

Cons: Expensive

excellent Mexican food and margaritas

The vegan menu is great! It's not so much an extra menu as instructions for how to order things from their main menu to make them vegan. This is a super helpful thing that I wish more restaurants would do. They have the same thing for gluten-free on the other side of the vegan menu.

I had the veggie fajitas (no cheese or sour cream), they were delicious and enough for two meals. We ordered the mole blanco on the side and that was delicious, too. The drinks were also excellent.

We sat on the back patio that backs onto the path along the river, which was a nice setting. Dogs are allowed on the back patio, and they even brought us water for the dog.

Pros: vegan menu with lots of items, delicious food and drink, dog-friendly

Average Food

I had the salsa squash stuffed pepper. It wasn’t anything remarkable, although the mole blanco made from cashews was quite food. The portion also felt a bit small. My boyfriend (vegetarian) ordered the enchiladas. He felt the same way. We both gave it a 3 out of 4.

Pros: Separate vegan menu, Fast service

Cons: They use yellow squash in most of their veg items

Great Vegan Mexican

Eds Cantina has a separate vegan menu, which includes things like veggie burritos, nachos, squash enchiladas, fried jalapenos, etc. At first I was disappointed that they did not have any vegan cheese options, but they have a vegan mole blanco sauce that is cashew based. It is delicious and with it, I did not miss the cheese on my nachos or burrito. Drinks are good, too.
Conveniently located on the main strip, gets crowded like most restaurants in the area.

Pros: Good drinks, Good drinks, Good drinks

Cons: Crowded, Crowded, Crowded

I’d give this 5 stars if I could.

The veggie burrito was delicious. I found the place via google, (forgot to check Happy Cow), so I missed out on the fully vegan menu. Next time I’ll be sure to request it, but really impressed with the veg options they offered on the main menu. Very flavorful.

Pros: Vegan menu

How awesome that Ed’s has a separate all-vegan menu! We had chips/guacamole, veggie burrito, and avocado veggie wrap stuffed with quinoa/black bean burger. We were so happy and full! Enjoy!

Great vegan Mexican options!

Ed's Cantina is awesome. They now have a separate vegan menu (ask for it at the hostess station) with TONS of stuff on it and the food here is a lot better than other Mexican/casual options in town (and most other Mexican places, period!) Wish I could give even more stars but 4 is the highest for a veggie-friendly restaurant.

At most Mexican restaurants, veggie burritos are a blah afterthought and generally just kind of "ok" -- but at Ed's, the veggie burrito (vegan without the cheese) is elevated to something really special.

The vegetables are perfectly seasoned and cooked just right with tender squash and sauteed spinach that is tender but still bright green and the black beans and rice are delicious. The whole 'rito comes with some home-made chips and guacamole.

The "mole blanco" (traditional mole spices but without chicken stock or dairy) is a cashew-based cheesy sauce that goes great on the vegan nachos. It's slightly sweet but has a nice spice. Speaking of spices, they have hot-sauces you can add that range from the normal to tear-inducing.

The only downside at Ed's is that the ridiculously good chips and home-made salsa are not complimentary. (So tasty in fact that our waitress was a sweet-heart and we got some extra to take home!) -- they cost about $2.

... That's probably a good thing though.... because we could have eaten our weight in that alone!

Pros: Fantastic Mexican food, lots of vegan options, homemade salsa

Cons: chips and salsa not free
