Yummy! - Edit
It was a sunny and warm so we were trying to find a vegan gelato. I was at first skeptical because I’m not a fan of coconut ice cream, but this was really good. Tastes natural and I was very satisfied.

Tasty vegan ice cream from Hawaii - Edit
If you have a sweet tooth, as I do, the cold weather won’t stop you trying this wonderful ice cream.
Read moreAs you can see in the pic of Coconut Glen's ice cream parlour, it originally came from the Hawaiian island of Maui. The founder used to work for a Michelin restaurant in NY before moving to Maui.
They have seven regular flavours of ice cream, but I was lucky enough to visit on a day when they had two additional flavours. You can choose from 1, 3 or 5 scoops of ice cream with either a paper cup or a coconut shell bowl, which is eco-friendly. I tried three kinds, chocolate, pistachio, and lilikoi (a.k.a. passionfruit, one of the additional flavours at the time).
As all of the ice cream is based on organic coconut milk, every bite brings to your mouth a southern breeze alongside the lovely Hawaiian music played in the store. Of my selection, the pistachio flavour was rich but not too rich and full of crispy pistachio flakes, I really enjoyed their contrasting flavours. The lilikoi ice cream was more like Italian gelato with its airy texture that compliments the sweet and sour taste with its citrus aroma. And the last one, the chocolate flavour, was fabulous! The moment I took one bite, the rich and creamy taste of chocolate spread throughout my mouth, and then, the tropical coconut scent went up my nose!
All of the flavours I tried were delicious, and I wouldn't have realised that they were vegan if I hadn't been told so. I bet vegans as well as non-vegans will love this ice cream.
Please note that most of their ice creams have alcohol flavourings, but they are not alcoholic.
There are also some drinks and ice cream sandwiches on the menu.
As of today, there are two Coconut Glen's in Tokyo, one in Minami-Ikebukuro and the other in Azabujuban.
P.S. Minami-Ikebukuro Park is just 100 meters away from the parlour, so you can eat there on a nice sunny day.
