Safe spot - Edit
Ate here a couple of times. It's my "I'm hungry and I don't feel like figuring out where's vegetarian and not packed" spot.

I love the vegan curry! - Edit
I was struggling to find a vegan spot open late in the evening, so came across this chain brand and absolutely loved the taste of the curry. It’s one pretty basic dish on the menu, but great for a quick, cheap option especially when you can’t find anything else around!

Simple, cheap and siblime - Edit
Delicious food for only ¥850 for a generous serving of their vegetarian curry with spinach. No wait at midday and easy ordering via tablet with an English menu. No options to add vegan protein but did not expect to have any from reading previous reviews. Would definitely recommend for a delicious and easy meal.

Bastion for hungry people - Edit
Vegan options and insofar as vegan food in Hiroshima, you get bang for your buck. The portions are generous for the price and it's basic but tasty.
Read moreThere were two options on the padlet menu even though the paper menu only featured one.
Be sure to order the green label "Vege" based curry if you're vegetarian or vegan. The other ones, even if there are no pictures or mention of meat would contain pork fat in the broth.
It's also next door to No Gyoza No Life if you want vegetarian gyoza after so there you go! It's a good block for food.

Filling vegan curry - Edit
Life saver after we tried two vegan option other restaurants at 6pm on a weeknight and were given 1.5 hour wait times. We walked in and seated straight away. We ordered vegetable curry with eggplant and Spinach curry. Both with 400gm rice (very large portion, I couldn't finish). Tasty and filling. You can select your spice level. This branch did not have the soy fake meat patty though.

Very filling vegetarian curry - Edit
Struggling to eat in parts of Japan, so was very pleased to have a large portion of vegetarian curry. You order on a screen which is easier to navigate. Make sure to swipe to the curries that are labelled vegetarian, as some of the sauces have meat in them. Vegetarian curries are labelled with a green sticker. Very tasty and filling!

Quick curry spot - Edit
This is basically a fast-food curry chain. The food was good the atmosphere was fine - good for people-watching. The ordering process was on an iPad so it made the selection easy - vegetable, eggplant or spinach curry were the options. Kids curry also available and not as spicy.

Beautiful Japanese curry! - Edit
Confirmed - vegans / vegetarians can opt for the vegetable curry and add any veggie toppings you like. I loved the taste and the fact you can customise it to suit your own taste / needs (I like curry spicy).
Read moreBTW - the pickles are vegan too, no dashi in them as confirmed by the waiter.
Fairly inexpensive too! A must try if you are around the area

Great Japanese curry - Edit
Very tasty curry. Happy to have tried. They have the vegetarian version which does not have animal products. They also bring you for free water and pickles. The pickles were amazing, not too much vinagre. I have also an iced tea.

A good place to eat curry. - Edit
Just like other locations, this Coco Ichibanya did a good vegan curry that you can adjust to your liking.
Read moreOne thing to keep in mind is that the ordinary spice level at this restaurant was more spicy than others. It is only a bit spicier but if you are expecting a similar level to other restaurants in different places such as Tokyo or Nagoya, you might be surprised.
I did only eat one meal here but I think it is likely based on a regional difference rather than a chance happening.
Pros: Customisability
StephZ
Thanks for the info that the food is more spicy than the other Coco Ichibanya restaurants.

Always Reliable - Edit
No matter where you travel in Japan, CoCo Ichi is a savior if you find yourself in a pickle. Always reliable to get delicious curry. There are excellent vegan options in Hiroshima, but even as short-term visitors, we just wanted a good curry. And CoCo Ichi did not disappoint.

Staff said entire vegetarian menu has egg - Edit
Even though the Vegetarian Menu says "no animal derived ingredients", the staff said all the options there contain egg, so I had to get the "allergy free" curry, which is premade and comes in a sealed foil bag. Convenient if you have nowhere else to go, but not a great first choice.

Très bon restaurant de curry, pas cher et ouvert jusque tard le soir. Attention à bien utiliser la carte spéciale pour plat végétariens (qui semble plus vegane que végétarienne)

Eggplant and Spinach Vegan Curry - Yum! - Edit
Just loved this curry - was exactly what I needed, and so tasty. Although my photography skills (or lack of) don't show it that well, the dish did actually look pretty similar to the photo on the menu, and tasted pretty damn good!

Vegan Friendly Chain - Edit
It's great that chain restaurants in japan are finally jumping on the vegan bandwagon! You need to ask for the vegetarian menu as the allergen free curries contain meat but from there everything is vegan. We tried the aubergine curry with tomatoes and the vegetable curry and they were both great. You can adjust the spice level to your taste and adjust how much rice you want depending on how hungry you are!

Tasty curry! - Edit
Nationwide Japanese curry chain. Most branches in cities have a vegetarian menu, including this one. Call to ask for other branches.
Read moreFriendly staff and tasty food. Cheap and quick. Lots of vegetable options and can customise by adding extra veg - see the separate international / meat menu for details. Make sure you order from the vegetarian menu as vegetable curries on the main menu all contain meat.
No fake meat / tofu options but still filling and tasty.
