Accommodating and pleasantly surprised.

From previous mixed reviews, we were a little concerned about what our experience would be like at Kanak restaurant.
We ordered the tomato and eggplant curry, the vegetable curry, chipati and tumeric rice.
We were pleasantly surprised to find the curry was flavoursome, it didn't taste 'old' or reheated - and the waiter was really accommodating to ensure each dish was vegan (we are a family of 4 - all vegan).
Would recommend this restaurant based on our experience. Serving sizes were good - and for 4 curries, 4 rice, 4 chipatis, 4 drinks - it cost approx. 12,000 yen.

Lunch Set only partially vegan-friendly 🌱

The service was extremely kind and took his time to tell what can made vegan.

🍛 Lunch Set (1150¥ 300¥ for special Dal)
Chana Masala,. Lentil Daal, Rice & Chapati

🍛 Daily Special Lunch (1300¥)
Potato & Cabbage Curry

🥗 Unfortunately there is no vegan salad dressing so we good a plain salad without any dressing :(

The main dishes and the Chapati 🫓 were very good but the portion of the 2 Set Lunch set was really small. Even smaller than the other dish which is somehow inconsistent as I ordered specially this set to get a bigger portion.

Delicious Indian food

It was a little difficult to find vegan food in Hiroshima and this restaurant was full with a tourist group from India. The were so kind to make space for us (two person). Because of the group they had buffet lunch (all you can eat). They food was excellent! They made extra vegan bread for us. It was really nice to eat with the group, they were really friendly. It felt like being in India for a short time.

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly staff, Nice atmosphere

Tasty Indian food

Very flavourful food without being too spicy. I had the Chana masala with veg pakora, chappati and Tumaric rice. Large serving and very filling. The menu is a bit confusing with veg and vegan options not clearly labeled but the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about vegan options. Some Nepali staff and influence.

Great curry and service

I was the only one here when I walked in so the host was super attentive. I said I was vegetarian and that I liked spicy food and he asked the chef to make mine extra spicy which was perfect! I didn't ask if there was a seperate menu for veggies/vegans but as a veggie I wasn't too worried about ghee, cream etc used in the sauces - think vegans might want to double check as menu not clear on that. Must admit the channa masala was not what I expected- I'm used to it being a dish almost entirely of chickpeas but this was mostly vegetables. Portions were generous and I was greatful to have some spice in my trip around Japan!

Pros: Extra spice on request, Service

Decent meal great service

We went here to watch the rugby match not the best atmosphere for the game but the food was decent.

We had a portion of the chana massala eggplant and lotus curries with two tumeric rice. Curries tastes very similar and looked almost identical too

Very friendly and helpful staff would recommend if your in the area

Pros: Lots of vegetarian options

Cons: Overpriced

Delicious Indian food!

Kanak have quite a lot of vegetarian options, for appetisers and entrees. We had a set menu of a salad, vegetable samosas and a curry (choose between tofu, vegetable, spinach or chana masala) with rice or naan. Everything was very tasty and very filling! My friend who was has visited India said the samosas were very authentic of what she ate there. Free WiFi for those travelling.
