Not sure if it’s vegan - Edit
Located in the geisha district Gion.
Read moreThey have 1 vegetarian menu set and seems like it’s vegan as well.
But others claims it has eggs in it and I can’t see where they would have used eggs (except maybe the sauce?)
They prepare everything in the spot where you can see it and I didn’t see eggs being used. I haven’t checked the reviews first before going in.
Food was delicious nonetheless but check with staff if you want to be sure.
Price is more mid range and not that many tables inside. And cash only too.

Got the vegetarian set which includes the tempura and the tofu steak, as well as rice and salad. Be careful, the "tofu steak set" is not vegan so you must order the vegetarian set. It was delicious! The tofu is cooked before it comes to the table but the mushrooms cook over a flame which was exciting. Loves the food, friendly staff too (they gave me a bib because I'm a mess eater!)

Traditional style tofu meal - Edit
I had the vegetable set, which was tofu and mushrooms frying on a hot stone in this delicious sauce. The set also had salad, rice and some tempura. This was the only option for vegans but it was great, highly recommend if you like tofu. It’s also fun to get a more traditional experience which often fully vegan places can lack.

Great vegetarian or vegan option in Gion - Edit
We stumbled upon this place by chance as we walked through Gion. The irony wasn’t lost on me After spending cumulative hours trying to find listed vege places during my trips to Japan. My meat eating friend loved the meat dish whilst the vege/vegan dish was quite a sight, and absolutely delicious.

We came across this restaurant whilst walking through a lovely street in Gion. The restaurant calls it the “Vegetarian Menu” but it is suitable for vegans as well. The tray of food contains a stone plate with “tofu steak”, salad with Yuba (famous Kyoto Tofu Skin), vegetable tempura, and a bowl of rice.
