DO NOT BOTHER

They say they cater to vegans, but they absolutely don’t. It’s a money grabbing opportunity. Do not waste your time. This place sucks.

Pros: Nothing, Bad service, Terrible options

Cons: Nothing good at all., Vegan tax specialists , $30 for a breakfast you could make for $5

Technically a vegan high tea, but underwhelming

So, I’m visiting Perth and my sister-in-laws give me a Christmas present: a vegan Hightea at Chinta. It’s a beautiful place, but, despite calling twice to ensure a vegan reservation, upon our arrival, we were told we’d ordered a vegetarian option, I felt terrible for my sister-in-laws, who had been so excited to find a good vegan option for me. After some advocacy, we were told a vegan option could be arranged..... but without the scone- the very element that I was so excited for. I mean, Ive been dreaming of smothering a scone in cashew cream and strawberry preserves. As a replacement, I was offered a slice of seeded sourdough- which I blanched at. Not comparable.

After my sils said that wasn’t ok, The waitress went away and said it had been sorted.

I was then served a separate tier with vegan options and a suspiciously smaller “scone” wrapped in paper than my sils. When it was unwrapped it was a small roll. As I watched my sils easily slice open their delicious looking scones- mine resisted the knife. I had to saw through it. It was dense and Rock-like. Nevertheless, I persisted. I spread jam and coconut cream on it. It. Was. Utterly. Revolting.

It was mega disappointing to be served a rock as if it was on par with a scone- and as if I wouldn’t know the difference.

They should have apologized and offered a discount/slight refund.

But they didn’t.

Mehs: the other items were not equal to the ones my sils received. Most underwhelming: I received some kind of almost like apple salad/slaw/salsa while sils had substantive pastries. Also: dessert. Basically a small carrot cake cupcake- tasty but I expect something more exciting at High-tea- and a chocolate dipped strawberry, which are half-ass compared to the chocolate tart and cake my sils enjoyed.

pros: beautiful space, the bao was good (tempeh in sauce)
