Unexpected quality

I found myself walking along the road on route to a vegan place that had been recommended to me, however Cempaka took my eye. I walked in and looked at the menu which is predominantly Thai and Balinese food with a couple of Western foods at the back for those people who can't live without. I've been a bit inundated recently with Western food here in Bali so I was so pleased to see not jsut one vegan item, but almost all of the menu could be made with tofu and tempeh! The server was really helpful and pointed it all out to me (because I, as a dummy, hadn't bothered to look at the menu before asking whether he had anything vegan!) I was sweaty from a yoga class so he recommended the 'Refresh' juice which had watermelon, mint and pineapple and it was the perfect thing. It was filled up to the brim and not too frothy either like some places do.
I got the nasi goreng with tofu and tempeh and the portion was so large I had to take half of it home for lunch the next day! There were a few other people who came whilst I was there, but I had the place to myself for quite a while.
I really liked the atmosphere there, no loud music, yes it's on the road but its down 2 or 3 steps and I sat at the back so I didn't feel like I was going to get run over. The servers were really kind and helpful. The food didn't take long to come out. It was brilliant. As I came to pay I noticed they had a cabinet with cakes in and the one closest to me was a vegan chocolate ball, so of course I took one home with me!

Really loved my dinner here and would recommend it to others looking for a proper Balinese meal at very reasonable cost. I think the nasi goreng was 35,000 Rp which is nothing compared to the vegan pizzas or burgers I could have got down the road. And it lasted me 2 meals, so really a fraction of the cost of dining elsewhere.

There was also free wifi and charging points EVERYWHERE. There must have been at least 2 charging points per table. Your battery will not die whilst you are here!

(Google also mentions that it's female owned, though I only saw one woman there and I can neither confirm nor deny that she was the owner.)

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, Almost everything can be made vegan, Vegan chocolate balls hiding at the front counter!

Cons: Also serves meat
