Great ocean view and vegan Food - Edit
Great atmosphere looking at the beach, and wonderful food that is locally sourced and vegan. Some options (pizza) were only vegetarian, but otherwise the other options were vegan. We enjoyed Jollof ball, and fresh orange juice. 10/10 ☺️

No longer all vegan - Edit
Delicious and healthy food. Unfortunately they have pizzas with regular cheese, so the place is vegetarian and no longer vegan. Lovely seating area. On the pricier side.

Beautiful view and tasty food - Edit
I am so happy this place exists. Senegal is not very vegan friendly. After spending few days in the country side, Casa Teranga was my first destination in Dakar. I was not disappointed. Absolutely wonderful view of the sunset on the Atlantic and super tasty jollof bowl. I had to remind myself to slow down and enjoy the food. I loved my dessert and soy cappuccino. It will be my go to place while in Dakar.

Well worth the drive! - Edit
I wanted to visit this restaurant as soon as I knew that I was coming to Senegal! Imagine my surprise to learn that it was an hour away from downtown where I was staying. Arranged to visit en route to the airport.
Read moreI loved the intimate space and the chilled vibe as soon as I walked in. Love the fact it is overlooking the water and on the western most point of Africa! Cool!
I couldn’t believe that the person I met is proprietor, chef, server, dishwasher all rolled into one! Wow! I asked the owner/chef what dish he recommended as everything sounded delicious. He recommended the Jollah dish. I was tempted by the homemade pizza with vegan cheese but went with his recco. The dish was freshly prepared and delicious. I also ordered a fresh ginger juice which was unsweetened but refreshing. I was disappointed that there was no chocolate mousse that night, the dessert on offer.
If I could, I would have come here several times to try some of the other dishes but one has to consider its location and distance to get there.
I did try to suggest possibly adding black beans to the Jollah bowl for protein as there was none, but didn’t know the French word for protein.
Overall, a great dining experience especially with the focus on zero waste and the spectacular location! Highly recommended!
Pros: all vegan so nothing to ask for or explain, good selection of dishes, freshly prepared
Cons: not a con but be prepared to wait as only one guy, cash only- too bad can’t use credit card

We are here now for dinner! Lunch seems to be all vegan but not the dinner pizzas. They serve dairy sadly :(

Beautiful food, view, place and people! - Edit
The food is not only delicious but you can see how much care is put into it: the presentation, the colours, it’s like an artwork! The decoration in this place is also so beautiful, matched only by the view of the ocean and the friendly owners.
Read moreI think the price is really reasonable for Dakar and you get a *lot* of food (we were 3, ordered the Jollof bowl, hummus falafel bowl and the vegan mafé and we almost didn’t finish). There’s no lack of flavour here, either - the strong Italian and west African influences work very well together. Juices are fresh and vibrant colours, the coffee is strong. I love love love that there are no plastic bottles - our water was served in a glass carafe and the zero waste straws were very appreciated. My one wish would be an earlier opening time at the weekends (they open at 12), even just by 1 hour. Maybe one day soon!
I will be back often!
Pros: Fresh, beautiful food, Amazing location, Zero waste practices as much as possible
Cons: Late opening hours

Oh my goodness I love that Dakar has this place! I wish them every success!
Read moreThe food is beautifully presented and fabulously fresh! 💚💚💚
They just keep getting better and better, you can now enjoy a glass of wine with your food! They even have a kid-friendly option on the daily menu, but ask if they don’t - they will likely be able to adapt 😍
Try the mafé if you can! A local Senegalese dish but made with chickpeas instead of meat, so good!
I would love to see them open a bit earlier on weekends offering a brunch menu!! 😉

Pros: Delicious, genuinely vegan, fresh, colourful food, Friendly and multi-lingual, Trailblazers!
Cons: It is located right above a fishmonger, and is sandwitched between a dibiterie, and a burger place! So it can smell of 🐟🐑🍔

Great vegan place in Dakar - Edit
Elisabetta and Bachir are an Italian-Senegalese couple that opened this little vegan gem hardly a month ago. And everything is delicious, from the jollof rice with alloco chips to the vegan mafé and niebé bowl. Highly recommended! The view is incredible and Elisabetta and Bachir are super nice and friendly. Great to know that there’s finally a real vegan restaurant in Dakar! We’ll be back!

Finalmente un ristorante vegano a Dakar! - Edit

Greater than great, so you must appreciate. - Edit
I have recently been doing performances in Dakar, and this is the place that fed me. Their style is a mixture of African and Italian, and they in a great location overlooking the sea, at the most western point in Africa. I like fire in my food, and they were happy to oblige. Furthermore, although I did visit the place, my meals were delivered to me. First to my performance venue, and then to my hotel. They were perfect. I also have to say that it's great to see a vegan restaurant in Senegal. I love them, and whatever your taste in food I recommend you check them out. VIVA Africa. Vegan Africa.

My new go-to place - Edit
I am so happy that we finally have a vegan restaurant in Dakar, that is walking the talk. Casa Teranga profiles Afro-Italian cuisine. I have tried three of their dishes so far, as a take away and they were all delicious, from penne arrabiata to the djollof bowl, and the chocolate mousse dessert was excellent too (made with chickpeas!). They are also zero-waste, so no plastic packaging. The owners are lovely, they have done an amazing job, creating a wonderful cosy venue at the most westerly point of Africa, among the local Senegalese restaurants. This place will become my go-to eat-out place while I live in Dakar. Thanks for taking on the challenge to set up Casa Teranga.

A vegan dream come true in Dakar - Edit
Casa Teranga is hands down my best restaurant experience as a vegan in Dakar (and maybe anywhere). After starting to follow them online even before I moved to the city, and enjoying their updates, I visited the restaurant on their soft launch day, feeling excited like a kid on Christmas Eve. Everything about the place was wonderful.
Read moreFirst, the setting. I had seen the pictures and videos online, but I still had a huge smile on my face as I walked up the colorful stairs and discovered the gorgeous outdoor space, and the incredible view. Casa Teranga offers one of the most picturesque settings I've seen in Dakar so far.
Then, the people. The owners were very nice and friendly, and it was a pleasure to chat with them. It really felt like I was visiting friends for an evening at their place, and I enjoyed how welcoming everyone was. We also share a lot of values, and I admire their emphasis on zero-waste cooking, whole food ingredients, recycling, and overall cooking and eating in a way that doesn't harm the planet (or animals, obviously).
And of course, the food! I didn't take any pictures, eager as I was to try it, but it was beautiful and delicious. I went with a friend and we shared a bit of each other's plate. I got the jollof bowl, while she got the hummus bowl, and both were great. What I loved about it was that it really tasted like a home-cooked meal, with fresh, local ingredients, but also that the dishes were balanced. No starch overload like it's often the case in vegan restaurants, but a generous combination of cereals, legumes, and veggies. Highly, highly recommended!

First vegan restaurant in Dakar! - Edit
This restaurant opened when my friends and I were visiting Dakar, it was really cool to get to stop in and check it out in their first few days. When we visited there were three menu items available, we tried the jollof and hummus bowls. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and right next to the ocean, it's such a nice set up, I'd love to hang out there for an afternoon and read while trying their different menu options and listening to the waves. Everything is home made and the restaurant is plastic free. They carry local craft beers as well. Cool fusion of Italian and African dishes.
Read more** Note for visitors - while the team is getting set up I'd recommend reaching out to them on Instagram before you stop in. They were unexpectedly closed the first time we tried to go but all worked out on try #2
