Bit disappointed - Edit
I was very excited to go here cause the reviews wer amazing and all looked very delicious. The opening hours were listed wrong and it wasn’t open on the Weekend so we decided to go for lunch on Monday instead. they had only 2 vegan options for lunch (Tofu Teriyaki and Chili). So we went for the Tofu Teriyaki. The portions were small and it was very oily. Was nothing for

Amazing vegan cakes (we had red velvet and apple-quinoa), nice location and a big garden to sit outside. Differently vegan options for lunch, the teriyaki tofu was great.

Nice lunch - Edit
I was very happy when the waiter said they had tofu teriyaki this day, because I missed good tofu after almost a month in Azores. And it hit the spot! It was really well prepared and seasoned, the side with sautéed rice was good too.
Read moreThe pineapple juice was disappointing though. It felt like water with bits of pineapple…
They had one vegan dessert, which is great, but it wasn’t really worth it. It was an apple tart and the dough was still raw on the bottom.

Amazing food and place - Edit
Everything about Casa de Chá is good. It felt like a vegetarian restaurant that also offers non-veg options. We tried the four main dishes they offered on that day: spinach lasagna (vegetarian), chili (vegan), tofu teriyaki (vegan) and pineapple seitan (vegan). Good portions and all delicious. They also make a pizza with vegan cheese, and a lot of other vegetarian options. It's a must in Faial

Plenty of vegan options, good variety and flavor - Edit
We chose to have dinner at Casa de Cha after reading other Happy Cow reviews- and I'm so glad we did! When we were seated the chef started to tell us what was on the menu, and when we asked for the vegan options, he said pretty much everything was vegan except the vegetarian lasagne. We ordered cornbread (not American style! more similar to polenta) with hummus, Samoas, soup of the day,and teriyaki tofu. Everything was delicious, though the Samoas and cornbread with hummus were probably my favorite. This place is also fairly cheap, all that food plus a bottle of wine for 29€.

Good little restaurant - Edit
Nice vegetarian/vegan restaurant. Only 3 entrees available- changes daily depending on food availability at the market. The chili and tofu entrees were vegan, and the lasagne was vegetarian. A vegan pizza option as well as many vegetarian pizzas are available.
Read moreThe teriyaki tofu was very good but a little strong with the teriyaki. The accompanied stir-fried rice was tasty. The vegetable salad was light and tasty. Service was fantastic.

Cozy, simple and delicious - Edit
I was definitely not expecting to leave this happy from "Casa". They have indeed options with fish or meat in it (mostly because of ham pizzas or tuna or ham sandwishes) but the main courses of the day are all vegetarian (when I went it was 2 vegetarian and 2 vegan). My mom had the vegetarian lasagna and I had the vegan curry and both were super happy with our choices. The dishes were really tasty and well cooked. I also had a very creamy bean soup and asked if I could take a sandwish to go. Although none of the options were vegan, they were keen to come up with one (hummus and tomato). The waiters were super nice and helpful, having no problem in adapting. They were careful enough to even make my mom's tuna sandwish to go with vegan mayo so it wouldn't go bad the next day.
Read moreVery beautiful hidden space with a garden and a rooftop with a view to "Pico". Very fair prices. Truly a hidden gem.

Lovely atmosphere, great food - Edit
The restaurant itself is incredibly well kept and has a great atmosphere. There were three main courses for lunch when we came. Two were vegan, one was Vege. The vegan dishes were curry and chilli. I had the curry. One of the better curries I've had. It was more than worth the 10 minute walk from the marina for what was really delicious food in a lovely environment.

An enchanted garden with delicious food - Edit
Casa is one of this unexpected places. In the middle of the town, Horta, its a ver cozy and beautiful wooden house surrounded by a magnificent garden. It has the perfect mood for a relaxing meal: smooth songs, natural light and smiles.
Read moreThe food is really great. The pizza and the bread are homemade and Eugenio, the chef, really knows how to cook his veggies and how to manage all the fresh herbs and other spices that you can find in the island. I recommend the veggie "feijoada" (veggies with blackbeans), the gnocchi with roasted tomatoes, aspargus and mushrooms and the algae stew.
And, of course, the Gin a Casa.
Probably, one of the best restaurant in town, even considering the meet friend ones.
Pros: Excellent food, Cozy and charming, Nice Staff
Cons: Doesn't open for breakfast
