Affordable and scrumptious - Edit
I will drive from 45 minutes away to come to this place because it's just that good. Everything is delicious, and the price is right. They have a lot of incredible seitan options, but if you're GF, go for the bbq jackfruit! Note: You eat out of takeout containers even if you dine in, so you might want to bring your own container to avoid the waste.

Amazing vegan Jamaican food - Edit
We stopped by Caribreeze on the way to Cornwall and so happy we did! Everything we had was amazing from the moss-based smoothies to the ribs and spicy, spicy jerk chicken. We got two large plates each with three sides and took the recommendations from the sweet woman behind the counter (possibly also the chef? I should've inquired!) on which sides to try, the Jamaican spinach was my favorite. We also got a side of mac n cheese because I can't ever turn down cashew based mac n cheese. We loved it all and finished the feast off with the most delicious carrot cake I've ever had, vegan or otherwise! Next roadtrip we will definitely stop in!

OMG. Great service and excellent flavorful food - Edit
I was in visiting Spring Valley 9 years ago to revisit my childhood home. On my way out of town I saw the VEGAN sign but unfortunately the restaurant was closed that day.
Read moreOn 4/3/21 I did a revisit with my 96 yo mom. It was a great road trip, but this time the restaurant was open. I took a parking space across Church Street (Ave.). We went in, and received the most wonderful greeting and some taste tests for mom, who doesn't eat
"Spicy". We ordered and it was excellent. Mom had yams, quinoa, mushroom stew, and Callaloo. I thoroughly loved the mushroom stew, the very spicy chicken jerk, curry chickpeas, red beans and rice and kale & mango salad with watercress and we shared a Mac & cashew cheese. It won't be long before I return.
Pros: Clean, Somewhat easy parking, Friendly and good service
Cons: Nothing

Great Food, Nice People - Edit
Great home made food with very nice owners. Comming back from Woodbury Commons we stop at the 1st vegan restaurant on our way and had a wonderful meal and delicious desserts. They had many plants and the owner gave my wife pieces of Spanish Oregano, such nice people.

everything i’ve had at caribreeze rules. curry “goat,” jerk chik’n, “beef” patty, chickpea curry, collard greens, cabbage, and mac n’chz are all so so yummy. we couldn’t even wait to get home to dig into the takeout so we pulled into a parking lot nearby and inhaled it all 😜 they also sell teas, herbs, incense and african black soap in store.

Mouth watering goodness, every time - Edit
I would live off Pat’s homemade food if I could. Their food is consistently high quality, even when I see them at markets and festivals. Get a platter and a side of mac and cheese, do yourself a favor 👌 that mac is bomb bro. Also have a selection of natural body products and soy meat products to go. I loved cooking with them and they took on flavors well. If you’re in the area, this place is worth the travel!! 🔥🔥🔥
Read morePros: Array of choices, you’ll find things you’ll like, Mac and cheese is the bomb, Pat and Dave are extremely kind, wonderful owners

Vegan Ital Food - Edit
Caribreeze never disappoints! The vegan “meats” and sides are always tasty, fresh, and satisfying. Get the vegan goat if you like spicy food. The staff is always super friendly and they carry a wide variety of Caribbean beverages to go along with the meal. I personally recommend the Sorrel.

best food and people - Edit
I have been meaning to review this place for a while! It is some of the best ital food and the family who runs it are super nice. They always want to talk about the food and actually TALK about it, like they are interested in what you think and are proud of what they made! (And they should be--it's amazing.) You can mix and match everything, and we always get the Mac and cheese on the side--it's very good and I have very high standards for Mac and cheese!

Posting on behalf of my husband:
Read more"Stopped here for dinner on a work trip and absolutely loved it. Do not be put off by the old appearance of this small place; the food makes up for everything. I had the BBQ ribs and the curried goat, while my friend had the BBQ ribs and peppered steak. All seitan. All delicious.
You cannot go wrong with any of the sides, and I found the red bean stew to be a pleasant accompaniment to the sauce heavy meat dishes. And of course, they have dessert! Vegan carrot cake in big slices.
Reasonable prices and friendly staff will bring me back here again for sure."

Always Great - Edit
This is my favorite vegan location in New York. I’ve been attending this location for years. I guess that’s why I still come here — the food is the best I ever had. On top of that they offer vegan Jamaican food. Example; instead of jerk chicken they’ll have jerk potatoes, instead of curry goat they’ll have vegan curry goat consisting of some form of soy. But if you can you should try their vegan mac and cheese!

5 star on my part.

Best vegan Ital food - Edit
This place is one of the best Jamaican Ital joints in NYC metro area, second maybe only to "Veggie Castle" in Queens, but service is more attentive and personal.
Read moreI suggest you forgo all the meat substitutes and pick from a variety of veggies and beans; this place has the best lima bean stew, kidney beans stew, black-eyed peas, lentils, etc. Their sweet and sour tofu is also great. The menu varies, but you always start with a grain, add some veggies, and beans/protein. There are 3 portion sizes: small, medium, and large. They usually have one soup too per day, which is great and very flavorful.
Their vegan Jamaican patties deserve special attention - they are the best and tend to sell out fast. Try "fish", soy, callaloo (green leafy vegetable), ackee (tropical fruit), veggie, and others.
They don't have a big variety of deserts; I would recommend their black currant roll.
There plenty of different drinks in the fridge, some are quite exotic.
Don't miss this hidden vegan gem in an area with few vegetarian options.
Pros: Unlimited choices per portion size, Delicious beans
Cons: No air conditioning, Tend to run out of patties

Pleasant Surprise! - Edit
You will find this super casual storefront restaurant located convieniently near the northern end of the Garden State Parkway in Spring Valley. The town has seen better times, but the food and friendliness at Caribreeze makes it well worth the detour. Each day brings a long list of available items from which to choose, and choosing is the hardest part.
Read moreThis is real, wholefood, plant-based cooking - not vegan junk food. Come hungry.
