Perfect lunch

We had a late lunch here to celebrate my partners birthday.
It was five star service, food, drinks & view.
A seperate Vegan menu, with a variety of choices for entree, main & desert.
The kitchen has a dedicated section where all the Vegan 🌱 food/dishes are prepared & cooked.
We had the best two hours, served & waited on by very friendly staff.
Enjoyed both entrees, Macadamia mozzarella, pickled beetroot, witlof, hazelnut, red wine dressing - Tandoori sliced butternut, pickled cauliflower, persimmon, coconut yogurt.
Mains were divine - with delicious fusion of flavours - Sweet sour eggplant, smoked eggplant cream, crispy eschalot, Lemon balm - Dosa of Goan curry potato, pea, cauliflower, tofu, tamarind chutney.
Finished off with Vegan mud cake with fresh berries & edible flowers … Yummy.
Can’t wait to return .. it was a very memorable experience.
Couldn’t recommend this place enough, it’s not often we can find fine Vegan dining to this caliber these days ..

Pros: Food was delicious , Very friendly staff - view was awesome, Vegan birthday mud cake was divine

Cons: Not a Vegan restaurant

Nice once off experience

I went to Cafe Sydney for my wedding anniversary. The view is nice, the service is good. Small amount of vegan options but everything was tasty. Definitely not the best meal I've had and I would definitely choose some other fancy restaurants in syndey over this one. Nice for once off experience but wouldn't go again. You pay for the view and service.
The desserts were really good though. Best part. Left still hungry.

Pros: Separate vegan menu, View of the Harbor Bridge , Good service

Cons: Expensive , Not many options for vegans , Average food compared to other restraunts

Gourmet meal

I came here for a work Xmas dinner. The view is fab but very noisy. Staff are friendly and asked for any dietary requirements as we were seated. Although I informed them before arrival I still had to ask for my “special menu”. I’m biased but I feel my meal was better than the omni’s. I had the fettuccine to start which was a decent portion compared to everyone else, the rogan Josh which was to die for, and the raspberry sorbet - which was OK. Very pricey especially at $14.50 for a bottle of water! Meals were around $30 each course. Would come again.

Elegant place

It's a nice elegant place on the top of a building, very expensive. They have a nice vegan menu. I found the food very tasty and beautifully plated. Too fancy for me though.

Vegan fine dining

I went here for my anniversary lunch with work, I choose this place because I have always wanted to go and they have a separate vegan menu. Plus the amazing view of the harbour
Quite a few of the items are gluten free as well.
I got the marinated eggplant and the potato and okra dosa. They were delicious!
I also got the sorbet with the jelly, they even put congratulations on top of my plate.
The staff were really helpful with any dietary requirements.
But it very expensive and can be quite nosy.

5-star

This place deserves 5-stars but unfortunately because they offer meat, the app won’t allow it. Cafe Sydney offers a seperate vegan menu and all vegan wines are labeled on their wine menu too. The experience is just fantastic. My partner and I had an amazing night here and the food was orgasmic! I’ve never actually savoured food nor felt the need to until this meal. I literally never wanted it to end. We ordered the cauliflower soup to start — AMAZING! The samosa puff pastry and dosa of potato as mains — both DELICIOUS (although my partner has the potato and I wish I had that one as it was a larger portion than mine. And to finish we shared the lamington — outrageously TASTY! The meal was expensive but 100% worth it, will def be back (prob for a special occasion).

Pros: Fantastic Sydney harbour views, Great service

Cons: Expensive (but worth it)

Accommodating and friendly

Great service, upon saying that I was vegan they offered me the vegan menu
A great range of vegan wines and beverages to go with a meal. Staff were very friendly. More advertising of vegan menu list would have been great! Would go there again although more on the pricey range though

Pros: Few vegan meals but loads of vegan beverages

Cons: Expensive

Good but pretentious

Walked in casually dressed and was treated very poorly. The food was good but not great. Very expensive.

Pros: A vegan menu

Cons: Snobby service, Over priced

Vegan menu was below average

For a really nice (read: expensive) restaurant that actually offered a vegan menu I expected far better than what we got. If you're after a nice restaurant where omnivores can eat their animals as well, go to Otto's in Woolloomooloo instead! Way better

Great high end restaurant

Café Sydney is a great place to celebrate a special occasion: it has beautiful views, delicious cocktails and mocktails , and the food is exquisite.
The service is top-notch and the servings are quite big for this kind of place, I had troubles finishing my dessert after having entree and main. The potato dish was definitely the best. The desserts were a bit below the level of the rest of the meal.
They serve meat and seafood but it's basically open air and I wasn't bothered by any unwanted smell or such.

Pros: Great atmosphere and service, harbor view, Vegan menu, Great cocktails and mocktails

Very Surprising Vegan Menu

Beautiful dishes, I had the soup which was sensational as a starter. My favourite was the gnocchi and the little taste of my husbands potato dish! Highly recommend for a special night out

Pros: Vegan Menu , Vegan wines, Amazing view

Cons: Parking, Difficult to get booking

Cafe Sydney

Now this is not going to be for everyone but it is now my favourite restaurant. It does serve meat but it's full vegan menu and stunning harbour views make it amazing. I believe we change the minds of non veg people by "normalising" being vegan and Cafe Sydney is making headway in that regard. Three courses with three options in each means you aren't a second rate diner.

My entree was a peach gazpacho followed by a main of Dosa of potato, okra massala with cashew nut, cucumber pickle and coconut chutney, beautifully spiced. Surprisingly it was better than at genuine Indian restaurants I have been to. Dessert was a vanilla vacherin with passion fruit sorbet, coconut cream, flowers and lemon balm. The vacherin was small chickpea brine meringues.

The general vibe of the place may not feel in line with some vegans ideals but Cafe Sydney is supporting worthwhile projects in the community and they should be encouraged for their full vegan menu.

I dislike that some reviews mark down restaurants because of the price. What is expensive for one is cheap to another. Entrees were $24, mains $34 & dessert $16. I would prefer to consider the overall experience as part of what you pay for which made it reasonable.

My fellow meat eating diners may not be converting to a veg diet anytime soon but my amazing lunch did get them thinking.

Pros: Harbour views, Great food, Choices

Cons: Meat served
