They have a vegan menu which is great! And I have tried a slice in the cabinet and their vegan big breakfast, the slice wasn’t my thing, however the breakfast was great!
Read moreI did order a small coconut flat white and they sent out a large when I politely said I ordered a small the lady was rude, so very poor manners. I hope she was just having a bad day & isnt always rude.

One of my favourite places to come in palmy, lots of vegan options my favourite is the jackfruit tacos or the pancakes. Had a vegan caramel slice there last weekend and it was to die for. Staff always friendly, be sure to go early as it fills up pretty quick on the weekend.

Cafe Royale is in a really cute little central spot and it's spacious enough to accommodate for large group (and they have outdoor seating in the summer too).
Read moreThere's a whole separate vegan menu which is fantastic and lots of sweet and savoury options. Personally my husband and I are not fans of their bread which is very dry, crumbly and bland but savoury breakfast items without bread (such as the hash stack) are delicious. I was underwhelmed by the 'Margherita' pizza which was a wholemeal crust with tomato paste and 4 slices of tomato. The sweet options such as the breakfast waffles and baking from the cabinet are great though. They do charge extra for non-dairy milk which is a shame and it would be nice if they had gelatine-free marshmallows for hot drinks.
The wait can be very long (upwards of an hour for menu food and twenty minutes for a hot drink) and on one occasion we've received the wrong item after a long wait. I think this is due to staff turnover.

Has a separate vegan menu and often vegan items in the cabinet! The indoor seating is a weird space and noisy but there is a sunny, quiet courtyard out the back which is lovely! Great service. They do pizza nights too!

Plenty of options for vegans, including food from the cabinet, a vegan menu, and vegan cakes. I found the chocolate cake to be a bit dry, but wholeheartedly recommend the coffee walnut slice! The vegan aïoli here is amazing, and the kitchen turns out some fantastic food. You can check out the art gallery from your seat, or curl up in the corner with a book. Lovely atmosphere, and friendly staff.

Stoked to see a vegan menu here. Cute little cafe next to an amazing art gallery. Amazing staff. The guy who served us was really nice and spoke to us about the art etc. Food was really nice we both had a burger. I got the roast pumpkin burger and my wife got the portebello mushroom burger. Both were amazing with onion relish and vegan aoili to die for. So many options on the menu including 7 different vegan pizzas that looked amazing. Highly recommend. I downloaded this app and created an account just so I could share how amazing this place was.

Huge clear separate vegan menu! Delicious hot drinks with mylk alternatives and great burgers and sandwiches - pizza menu looked awesome too. A little on the pricey side but well worth it ($26 for jackfruit burger with side of fries and a soy hot drink)

Really nice place to eat. The jackfruit burger was well spiced and really delicious! My mother thoroughly enjoyed her Portobello mushroom one also. Really friendly efficient staff. Would recommend as a great place to eat.

Read moreI have had the pizza with walnuts, mushrooms and tahini. It was delightful, and so innovative. I also tried the jackfruit burger, which was nice, but a little sweet for me. The chips were lovely, with vegan aioli. There are plenty of sweets in the cabinet, all labelled. The brownie was great, and the raspberry slice was also lovely.
They serve boutique beers and wines I note. Service is friendly. Nice ambience in the gallery.

Cafe Royale is my favourite place to eat when I am visiting Palmerston North. They have a separate veg menu with lots of options plus vegan options in the cabinet. The options change so there's no chance of getting sick of the same old choices as happens at other places with vegan options. There are always vegan baked goods too. I usually eat here and also take away food for lunch the next day.

Having read previous reviews we were very excited to finally try a jackfruit burger, but when we arrived (14.05) the kitchen was already closed.. Fortunately we could still order some delicious potato pumpkin pastries, and some pistachio ginger and coffee walnut cake.

This vegan burger was so finger licking good. I can not even describe it. At first it reminded me on a portobello mushroom by the texture of the fruit patty, but it has its own texture and was really tasty. Well worth the money and we'll come back again - they even do pizza! ;-)
