3 empanadas and cortado!

Just came away from a very satisfying breakfast - ate more than I intended which is a good sign! I’m gonna be back before I leave Berkeley. Cortado was the best I’ve had in the US so far.

Buena Onda!

Ordered: Soyrizo, ApplePie, PeachCobbler

The restaurant was vibrant and had the Argentinian fileteado style writing on the building. Had indoor seating available and several tables occupied while I waited behind a couple in line to get my
Empanadas. They had many vegan options and I look forward to trying more. All of the empanadas had the name of their fillings toasted on the empanada which was a great creative touch and made it easy to identify in case you are sharing with anyone else. They got a little soft in the package because I waited a while to eat them, but still had a nice crisp outside and the fillings were delicious. The apple pie was sweeter than the peach cobbler but both were excellent and if you eat it fresh I’m sure it tastes even better than what I enjoyed. My favorite was the Soyrizo though, the flavor went well with the potato and it made me wish I had ordered more. If you love a great empanada, this is your place!

Vegan empanada and coffee

Delicious flaky empanada and hot coffee con Leche can it get better?
Yes, they have WiFi and tables so it’s ok to bring a computer. Clearly marked between vegan or vegetarian so there’s no confusion. Nice decor and atmosphere.

I would move here for the vegan spicy Italian sausage empanada

I’ve officially tried all the vegan empanadas here and my favorite by far is the spicy Italian sausage empanada. I’m not local but this empanada alone gives me a compelling reason to consider moving to California. All empanadas come with chimichurri (except the sweet ones), and you should absolutely eat your empanada with that sauce. 3 empanadas is a very filling lunch for me, 2 would be good for a breakfast.

I also took a chance and tried a sweet empanada - the blueberry one. I didn’t like the texture of it too much, so don’t be bummed about the lack of vegan sweet empanadas. You’ve got the best empanada on the menu in your section as a vegan.

My partner, who is vegetarian, says the mushroom empanada is his favorite from the savory bunch, and the apple from the sweet bunch. He says the peach, corn, and spinach empanadas are alright, but not as good as the mushroom. That said, I’m pretty sure this place raised our empanada standards about 1000 notches in general. The butternut squash and roasted eggplant vegan empanadas are solid too.

The overall atmosphere is very cute and the service is kind and welcoming. They also have four different plant milk options - oat, soy, coconut, and almond - and the coffee is delicious. Next time I visit I’ll make sure to stay nearby this place so I can keep easy access to these empanadas. This one is worth going out of your way a little bit for, especially if you have other things you’d like to do in the Berkeley area.

Pros: The best empanada I have ever tasted

Cons: I would love a vegan sweet option
