I wish I lived here so I could visit everyday!

I love everything about this place. Friendly staff, all vegan food that was yummy and affordable, to books I can snag and peruse while I wait for my coffee. I adore all LGBTQIA literature and art. I hope they stay open so I can visit again on my next trip east.

Like a PDX coffee shop 20 years ago

That’s not a compliment. All but one of the staff looked and spoke to me like I had human [censored] on my face. None of the food is noteworthy.

I’m sure that if they see a review like this, they’ll think it’s funny - but if you’re going through some stuff or you’re just trying to have a day where you’re not treated like a subhuman because you don’t fit with their aesthetic or whatever, stay home and toast the bagel yourself.

A lot going on…

Love this place, but it can feel a bit chaotic for folks who are easily overstimulated. Definitely check out the books and posters, and DO NOT MISS their handmade glazed donuts when they have ‘em!

Pros: Hub for DIY culture

Cons: Live music can be a little too loud

Tasty and completely vegan!

Excellent food. They seemed like they were out of a lot of things compared to the last time I ate here a year ago, but what I did get was delicious. Caprese sandwich was delicious, as was my butter pecan flavored iced coffee. Jelly doughnut was incredible but pricey. All portions were a little pricey for what you get. Love the vibe and atmosphere here though - live music on a Monday afternoon and some wonderful books for sale.

Pros: Cozy atmosphere , Unique options , Delicious food

Cons: A little pricey

Meh

Hate to give a lower rating to the ONLY vegan place on the Cape but... Meh. Limited menu due to staffing. Breakfast sandwich was as basic as you could get, and I'm pretty sure it was just microwaved.

Haven't had this place for a few years (which was AWESOME back then), and probably won't return after this visit.

Safe Haven for Vegans looking for food!

We were on vacation and were so thankful to have Bread Roses close by. The entire Cape had very limited options but we had several breakfast and lunch options here plus yummy desserts. Everything we tried was delicious including the breakfast sandwich that we had daily. The matcha latte is incredible as well. All of the staff was kind and welcoming. Great place! I hope to see this place still standing for years to come. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely place to hang out, good kale salad!

We enjoyed our visit to the bookstore and cafe - there are lots of tables where you can hang out, read, eat or drink coffee. Good coffee and I had a tasty kale salad. Definitely more of a cafe than a restaurant, as the menu is mostly sandwiches / burgers / snacks. The kale salad was the only option I considered ‘healthy’ which is why I’ve given 4 stars not 5.

Pros: Nice friendly vibes , Busy place with good atmosphere , Good coffee

Delicious!

This place is so cute! Great vibe and delicious food. It was pretty busy when we went which I love to see 😁 the only thing I will say is it is a bit pricey for breakfast if your not aware! my bf got the scramble breakfast which was just egg scramble with toast, home fries, and "bacon" with a coffe and i got a the breakfast sandwich (just egg, cheese, tomato, and "bacon" on a bagel and a side of home fries and a matcha and it was $52 😬 like I said the food was really good it wad just a sticker shock for a quick breakfast so keep that in mind!

Diamond in the rough

Dedicated vegan food is a rare find on the Cape. Thank goodness for Bread & Roses. Not only preserving a sanctuary for delicious plant-based food, but also a sanctuary for books! The biggest winners on the menu were the burritos and the desserts, almost all of which are baked on-site. Great service, super friendly vibe. It’s well worth a stop if you’re anywhere near the place!

Delicious!!!

I have eaten there 3x and can’t wait to go back. I shouldn’t say this as they were “out of stock”last time I went but the King Oyster Carnitas Burrito was something I dream of!

Pros: Great enthusiastic staff, Plenty to read if you order in house, Love the atmosphere

AMAZING

Everything is amazing here. This spot was a 7 minute drive from where we were staying and it is perfect. It’s a super cute cafe/bookstore with amazing coffee, food, and service! My boyfriend and I were worried about finding a good breakfast spot and this place was perfect. On our week trip we went here 4 times. We ordered the breakfast flatbread, the avocado toast, and the breakfast sandwich (which was our favorite). The coffee was also amazing (and I am pretty picky about coffee). We will definitely be back any time we end up in the area.

Pros: Completely plant based, A ton of options for breakfast and lunch, Amazing coffee

Unique Foods

Enjoyed the mushroom burrito and the lemon drop. Didn’t have much that my daughter likes but that’s not unusual. Very good and loved that it was a book store. Two of my favs together vegan food and books!!
