Interesting experience - Edit
Came here with a small group a few weekends ago on an off hour and it was empty inside. They had this ambient music going on the whole time on the big TV behind us and it was like I was waiting for a spa appointment or something...
Read moreOrdered online using the QR code (it's that or use the kiosk) and the food took a while, but maybe they had a lot of takeout orders. Was delivered by a robot type thing. Food was good, and at least what I got was very inexpensive - I had the tofu banh mi and split the scallion pancake and veggie dumplings appetizers with the group. Definitely more things on the menu I'd like to try, but the atmosphere was kind of weird.
There was one person at the front counter, I assume dealing with takeout orders and other things, so there was no actual waitstaff. Utensils were self serve but they didn't have any napkins unless you got the disposable utensil packets.
Pros: Good food, Inexpensive
Cons: No waitstaff, Self serve

Vegan pork, beef, chicken - handmade apps - Edit
The food was delicious. They make their steam buns and other appetizers. We so had an amazing chicken entree and some excellent lemongrass tofu in the vermicelli salad.
Read moreThe lemongrass tofu was even better than the vegan beef but the chicken was best of all.
It's half self-serve here - order at a kiosk, gran your own silverware and water, then a server or robot will bring your food.
I liked everything and loved several things. I expected to like the vegan crab Rangoon and pork dumplings more than I did. The bun was good but the memory has been tarnished by the realization I ate the paper on the bottom.
Can't wait to try a bahn mi and get some vegan ham to take home from the market.
Pros: Make their own steam bun, Lemongrass tofu!, Ginger chicken
Cons: Closes early

Delicious food and awesome staff - Edit
This was my second time eating at Blue Taro. The first time was only a few days prior, but it was so good I had to bring my partner! The food came out in a timely manner and the staff members were extremely kind! We got the vegan sandwich and a soup to split, both had great portion sizes for the price. Everything was absolutely delicious, and incredibly fresh tasting. I highly recommend you check it out! They also have a bubble tea, and market area, both also including clearly marked vegan options. The market has many vegan options and even has a special vegan freezer. Really awesome to have a place like this to grab some awesome and fresh handmade vegan food!

Vegan Vietnamese done right!!! - Edit
Not since Lan Cafe in NYC have we had a vegan Banh Mi this good! Separate Vegan menu with lots of options. Strawberry bubble tea was like dessert. They use coconut cream in place of condensed milk.

Cons: Service can be slow, as it's a family run. , Worth the wait.

Great Vietnamese food - Edit
We were offered a vegan menu as soon as we came in! It is nice to see a restaurant that considers and understands vegans. I had the Pho which was flavorful and had plenty of rice noodles and eggs. My wife had a vege and rice noodle dish which was delicious. Our friends had the fried eggs tofu appetizer which was great and a Vietnamese crepe.

Excellent Vietnamese! Open late! - Edit
The waitress asked us when we arrived whether we would like the vegan menu or the regular menu--and she had no idea we were all vegan!
Read moreThey had probably 30 items on the vegan menu. They were very thoughtful to vegans. The vegan menu is here https://www.yelp.com/menu/blue-taro-rochester-4 (please scroll about 3/5ths of the way down the page to see the vegan menu). They have six vegan appetizers, eight soups, three salads, eight main dishes, and a lunch menu with many dishes as well. We had the great Dau Phu Chien Sa - Vegan Tofu Strips which are deep fried tofu with garlic and lemongrass--don't miss this! We also had dumplings (very good) and the Dau Phu Ca Ri - Vegan Vietnamese Tofu Curry in Clay Pot (very good), the Banh Xeo - Vegan Vietnamese Crepe (very good), and the Dau Phu Sot Ca Chua - Vegan Fried Tofu in Tomato Sauce, which we especially liked. . They also have spring rolls, tofu sandwiches, vegan buns, "egg" rolls, vegan pho, noodle soup, tofu soup, tofu curry in clay pot, noodles, so many others...quite delicious. The staff was so lovely. We arrived late and stayed beyond closing time, but they were so hospitable to us. They are on https://twitter.com/bluetaro942 and https://www.facebook.com/bluetaro942/ I am a little fuzzy about their hours. I think it is 1:00 pm - 11:00 pm every day, but I am not sure. The message on their voicemail says differently, but I think those are old hours--I would only trust a live person, not the recording
Pros: Delicious, Lovely people, Gluten-Free, Open late
