A sapporo speciality worth the trip 5 of 5 - Edit
Wish it was possible to give 5 stars reviews to all restaurants even if they are not fully vegan- food was awesome. Recommend the mitake mushrooms as an extra topping, and peach iced tea as a drink.
Read moreWe went during lunch time, no queue so you can easily save time by going here compared to waiting in line nearer the city centre.
Staff gave us an english menu. There are two fully vegan bases and you can customise everything of toppings.
(Forgot to take pictures of the english menu so translated it with google lens after)

One of the best meals of my life! - Edit
There are 2 clearly labeled vegan options: regular and coconut. I had the regular vegan at a 7 spice level. It was absolutely incredible and inexpensive. One of the best things I’ve ever eaten, and the staff was super nice. There were like 12 different types of vegetables in it and the turmeric rice is great. 7 was a little spicy, but I could have gone spicier. The best soup curry spot I’ve been to in Sapporo!

Amazing soup curry! - Edit
There were 2 options of vegan soup curry. I got the vegan rich variety, as opposed to the coconut variety. I added lotus root to it. It comes full of vegetables, an incredibly rich and delicious curry, and a side of turmeric rice to eat with it. I can’t even describe how delicious this meal was! If you’re in Sapporo, it’s definitely worth the time to go eat here! The staff was super friendly and happy!

Had to try the curry soup! - Edit
I was told to eat curry soup if I was in Sapporo, so of course I had to! Immediately when we walked in they asked if we were there for vegan curry. I think happy cow is helping keep this place busy 😅
Read moreTwo types of vegan curry soup: coconut vegan curry and vegan curry. We got both of them at spice level 6, which was perfect but ymmv. We also got extra toppings, note that it already comes with the veggie toppings (mushrooms, 1 taro root, etc.) and so if you order toppings you'll have a pretty large meal.
I personally preferred the vegan curry over the coconut since I didn't want the strong coconut flavor, but it was the opposite for my husband.
It's not too far from Nakajima park and definitely worth the visit.

Vegan soup curry - Edit
The restaurant has vegan option as vegan soup base. I ordered vegan coconut base for 5level spicy, I guess normal vegan soup is more close to legit soup curry. A bit far from the train station but absolutely worth to visit!

Yum! - Edit
I’ve never had a soup curry before so I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon this soup curry restaurant that carries vegan options! You have the option of a vegan soup base or a vegan coconut milk soup base. I opted for a spice level of 3 and it was quite delicious! There was a nice kick to it but nothing too crazy. The owner was super nice and friendly! Despite it being a little bit out of the center of town, it’s definitely still worth the trip if you want some delicious soup curry! 😋

Amazing, worth the trip - Edit
The restaurant was a bit out of the way but totally worth the trip. I've never had anything like this. The vegan broth was so rich and the veggies, cooked separately, retained their own strong flavors. The coconut lassi is also vegan. You can determine the spiciness level of the soup curry and if you go above 5 the lassi could come in handy to help temper the heat:).

Easily one of my top 10 curries ever - Edit
What kind of sorcery is this, how can a simple vegetable curry taste this good? One of the best curries I had in my life. Also a lot of vegetables (unlike most dishes I had in Japan so far) so that was nice. No tofu / plant protein though.
Read moreParts of the menu were only in Japanese so we used Google lens to figure out extra toppings, Staff speak very little english but were really welcoming and we managed to communicate, get the vegetable curry with either the vegan or coconut vegan soup base. We got extra pumpkin and the three mushrooms, yum!
Pros: Beyond delicious, Big portions with lots of veggies , Nice staff
Cons: Only some of the menu in english

vegetable curry - Edit
It’s a Japanese curry 🍛 restaurant 🍴, and the owner warmly greeted me. The spice level here can be adjusted from not spicy to spicy enough to separate the brain from the body. I chose a spicy level of 2 degrees, which was just right. The vegetable curry includes shredded burdock and is served with white rice (probably mixed with turmeric), which is very tasty!

Phenomenal soup surry - Edit
I didn't think it would it would be possible that my favourite meal during a three week trip to Japan would be at a place that also serves meat. Much less even in a country like Japan where cross-contamination is a constant issue and the language barrier to explain this makes things extra-difficult. But it happened.
Read moreThe woman (owner?) didn't speak amazing English, but well enough, and there was absolutely no communication issue as soon as she heard the word "vegan". There was no ambiguity whatsoever about what was vegan and what wasn't. Like most Japanese, she was also kind and very helpful. The food was incredibly flavourful and spicy (for those who want it that way) and it was the perfect, hearty, filling meal for a cold evening in April. Another bonus is that you get to try the vegan version of a hokkaido classic dish for great value for money.
The restaurant is a bit out of the way, but still easily reachable by metro via Horohirabashi Station or a longer walk from the centre through Nakajima Park. And it's absolutely worth the trip.
Pros: hearty, value for money, friendly staff
Cons: location not ideal

Never tried soup curry before, but was so pleasantly surprised. Seriously loved it. Only one vegan soup curry base but I think they did a great job with it. If I had more days in Sapporo, I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Delicious curry - worth the trip! - Edit
A very delicious and filling curry only a few subway stations away from Sapporo staton - worth the trip! Ordering is a 5 step process and the menu demonstrates this in English. The vegetable curry without the egg is vegan. Add the vegan soup, rice and toppings then pick a level of spice. I found the vegetable servings to be generous. The restaurant is well signed, you can’t miss it!

Amazing Vegan Soup Curry - Edit
We tried to go to Rojiura Curry Samurai only to find that they could take the meat out, the broth is not vegan and decided to go elsewhere. Across the road we stumbled upon Beyond Age. Their last order is 15min before closing time and we only just got in but the staff were still happy to serve us. Some staff spoke a little English too! It was a great find in an area with meat-dominated restaurants so we were really lucky!
