Finally, a bit of NY out west 😋

Shmear shmear shmear! We split two sammies and both were done awesomely. Recommending get a shmear added to a bagel egg sammich. Espresso from an actual shot puller, which i always respect. Can order deli salads by the pound for a quick grab 'n go. And PUMPERNICKEL!!

Pros: Sammies done right , Welcoming indoor seating

Love it!

Tried the bagels and lox cream cheese and bacon and scallion cream cheese. The bagels were fresh and had that perfect tender chewiness and the cream cheese was the best I’ve ever tasted. Did it taste like lox? Not to me, but did I care? Not one bit. It was smooth and creamy and dense but spreadable. The menu has so many options-can’t wait to try them all.

Macaroni salad

I’ve been here twice. My favorite thing so far was the macaroni salad. I couldn’t recommend it more and haven’t come across any vegan Mac salad so it was a treat. The egg salad sandwich was also very good. It didn’t look that exciting but had amazing flavor. The sausage egg bagel was pretty basic so I wouldn’t get it again but not bad. I’m excited to try all the different cream cheeses. I only had the basic cream cheese which was great. My latte was also made very well. I will definitely be back to try more stuff.

Pros: Friendly staff, Egg salad

Cons: Sell out of pastries quick

Delicious hearty meal

I got the Benny’s Brisket, made with seitan steak, Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, and horseradish aoli on marbled rye. It was so tasty! And it’s nice to find a vegan place that isn’t afraid to load up on the protein. The sandwich was stacked high with seitan.

Pros: So many options, Protein!, Authentic flavors

Cons: Pricey, Limited seating

Add this to your must-visit list of places!

This all vegan Jewish deli was worth the trip from Tacoma and has made our "will-travel-for-food" (and wait in a line out the door) list, and it should also be on yours. We happened to be in Seattle for a different reason, but with our beloved Wayward no longer an option we stumbled across this new deli! We had the philly hoagie, tuna melt and turkey-bacon sandwiches, noodle knugel, a black & white cookie and solid coffee to wash it down with. My only regrets are that we inhaled the food before snapping photos AND all the food I didn't get to try... yet. We will be back to this NY reminiscent gem, and next time will pause for photos!

first time in a jewish deli in years!

The Seattle area seems to be hemorrhaging vegan restaurants, so it's nice to have a new one open up, especially a new type of cuisine.
They were out of black & white cookies before it was even 9am :'(

Pros: courteous staff, clean shop

Cons: the knishes and bagels were kind of small, sold out of black & white cookies too fast

Yum!

I live across the border in Vancouver and stumbled upon Ben & Esther’s. My partner has a bit of an obsession with Ruebens so we had to go in! The staff were super friendly and the service was quick and delicious! They even gave us some free bagels on our way out because we were so happy to have found them! I had the brisket and my partner had the Reuben (of course). The marble rye they were both on was so fresh and the vegan corn beef was extra yum! We are looking forward to going back next time we’re in Seattle and hope to visit the other locations when we get the chance! Definitely worth a visit!

Pros: Whole deli is vegan!, Cute vibe, Friendly staff

Finally! So happy!

We’ve visited Ben and Esther’s in Portland and we are so so excited to have them in Seattle. Everything we tried was delicious! We were really impressed with how quickly we were served despite the large crowds and how many choices there were!

Pros: So many vegan sandwiches, bagels, and sides! , Baked goods! , Great location!

Long Awaited

After trying Sam & Gerties Jewish deli in Chicago, I was happy to hear a Jewish deli would be coming to my hometown. After some opening, delays Ben & Esther’s finally opened on November 1st, 2022, which so happens to be world vegan day!

I arrived at Ben & Esther’s on their opening day at 715am. They opened at 7 and there was already a decent sized line outside. I decided since I was in for a wait, I would order many items to try as I may not get the chance to be back for a while. I ordered the lox sandwich, Bennys Brisket, a potato Knish, and Matzo Ball soup.

My favorite out of everything was the Lox. It was delicious and fresh. Bennys Brisket was pretty good as well and served on beautiful marble rye bread. The balls in the matzo ball soup were good otherwise I didn’t care for the broth. The potato knish was a tasty little snack.

In total it took me 50 minutes from when I got in line to get my food. It was kind of slow but I attribute that to it being their first day open and the staff learning their system. I can’t wait to try this place again and have some of their delicious bagel schmears.
