Amazing vegan hotel

I strongly recommend this place. The listing mentions the restaurant, but it is in fact a hotel with a restaurant, fully vegan. The staff is really friendly and helpful, the food is amazing, and the area is relaxing.

Delightful discovery!

Beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous rural location, in beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.

Very attractive menu with specials. Could have had anything. Went for banana blossom and chips, delicious with tasty mushy peas and sauces dip. Then sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Very indulgent meal in a beautiful setting by the stream

Pros: Great menu options, Beautiful countryside setting by stream, Lively atmosphere and lovely service

Lovely stay

We had such a lovely, relaxed stay at Beck Hall. The superior room was great and looked out over the stream. It's so nice to go somewhere plant based, so you don't have to worry or ask about everything you're eating. Just order and trust. I have a soy intolerance, and this was taken seriously, and menu options fully explained. All the staff team took this seriously, and I wasn't made to feel awkward (which is quite often how I feel even if it's not intentional by food servers). It would be good to have more soy free options. However, everything i ate was lovely, and the cheesecake was divine! Nice walks on the doorstep. All the team were lovely and friendly.

Pros: Great food-allergies catered for carefully , Lovely location , Friendly staff team

Cons: Menu reduced substantially with soya intolerance

Delicious vegan everything

Totally plant based menu! Vegan goodies include a wide range of breakfasts, simple to extensive lunches, full three course dinners, and afternoon tea.

Also very allergy aware.
Final bonus - very dog friendly.

Edit: just as good on a second visit!

Magical stay

So I stayed at Beck Hall for two nights in one of the classic rooms (it was a gorgeous little sun trap!)

My whole stay was perfect. The room, the food, the friendly staff, the gorgeous sunny terrace next to the beck…. My dog was not just welcome, he was made to feel like a special little prince (which let’s face it is what he expects from every day life!) and I was his carer 😂

Despite being very dog friendly, you cannot tell that dogs stay there, the rooms are spotless. The restaurant is super clean and guests and staff alike seem to genuinely love the doggy visitors.

Now onto the food. My first meal was banana blossom & chips (yum), followed by the lemon chia cheesecake (so good), for breakfast both mornings I had the full English and my other evening meal was the juicy marbles steak with peppercorn sauce …all the food was delicious and great portion size, I was very full! Can’t wait to visit again to work my way through the menu! (Already booked!)

The only thing that could be better is if there was some yummy vegan biscuits in the rooms to go with the tea tray!

Pros: The food, The lovely room, The dog friendliness

Cons: No biccies in the room (I can’t drink tea without!

10 star, why stop at 5!

The food is incredible. Every element has well thought out taste. Dog friendly and within a 5 minute walk of Malham Cove. We were watching wild birds from our bedroom window. Pay a visit. You won’t regret it. They took a risk going plant based and I really hope it continues to work for them because it’s a gem.

Wow!

I cannot fault the food at all. The heading description doesn't do it justice. It is also a dog friendly hotel. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food . We had a la carte Saturday dinner with cocktails. We also had the roast Sunday lunch which again is very good value considering the quality. The puddings are sublime

Pros: The food is one of the best we've eaten at, Right on the river, beautiful surroundings , The staff super friendly, chatty and helpful

Exceeded Expectations

Wow. I don’t know where to even start!
No wonder you have to book well in advance to stay here. We managed to secure a Thursday night last week and it blew our minds.
The rooms, staff, atmosphere were incredible, the FOOD!! I was in heaven, we made sure we ate as many times as possible during our stay because I had such a fear of missing out haha.
The location is absolutely perfect, ideal. I cannot think of one thing to grumble about it was the best hotel experience I’ve had.
Thank you so much to all the team for making a fuss of our little Margot too, she gets anxious sometimes and too made her feel right at home.
We will certainly be back ❤️

Amazing food

This is undoubtedly the best vegan restaurant I've ever been to! The food was next level, with a good range of options. We had the babyback ribs, samosas and mushroom truffle toast to start, followed by the banana blossom and chips, thali, and burger. The place is also super dog friendly, providing little mats and treats.

Pros: Variety, Beautifully presented, Super dog friendly

Cons: Tables are kinda close together, You have to cross a rock footbridge to enter

Fabulous hotel and setting

Staff here are so friendly, food is fantastic! It's dog friendly and the surrounding area has lovely walks. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. Stayed two nights tried most things, everything was really tasty. Banana blossom and 'shrimp' cocktail were interesting and afternoon tea was fab too! Personal highlight was the scones.

Highly recommend

We stayed at BeckHall for 2 nights, the location is serene with great walks, lovely staff and delicious food. Such a treat to be able to go away without worrying about where to source vegan food. Also had plenty of gluten free options and were able to make a gluten free afternoon tea for us when we only enquired the day before, highly recommend.

Pros: Great food - plenty of gf options , Lovely staff, Picturesque location

Wonderful place to eat and stay

We loved our stay at Beck Hall. Helpful staff, delicious food, well stocked bar (including vegan cask ales, which are rarely found), and a beautiful snug room in which hotel guests can sit and drink by the fireplace and chat to other guests.

The breakfast is particularly good - during our time we tried the full breakfast, sasuage and scrambled tofu bap, avocado on sourdough, and the various pastries.

The lunch sandwich and soup options are decent. You can also order bigger meals or an afternoon tea.

For dinner I really enjoyed the special (jerusalem artichoke gnocchi) and the eton mess for dessert.

There are some exceptional (and easy) walking routes straight from the hotel door.

Pros: 100% vegan food and drinks, Innovative and varied menu, Beautiful setting

Love this place

We had a perfect start to 2025 with a stay here.

Comfortable rooms, we were in a classic and found enough room for ourselves and the greyhound. It's an incredibly dog friendly place!

The food is fabulous. Classics veganised and some vegan classics too. Lots of choice, whether you're wfpb or into alternatives.

Breakfast is a treat - you need to try the tofu scramble! It's better than mine, and I rarely find that anywhere.

It's a relief to stay somewhere all vegan - we will be heading back.

Wonderful plant based hotel

I stayed her for two nights and it was delightful!
So much choice I couldn’t try everything I wanted to but looking forward to a return visit already.
Delicious breakfasts, lovely Sunday lunch.
Had a Thali and blossom fish and chips. The lemon chia cheesecake was lovely as was the chocolate pot.
Wonderful old building in gorgeous setting with great staff.
Only issue was some of the food was a little cold.
Other than that, highly recommend. I would imagine you need to book a table in the summer.

A must-visit for vegans

A wide selection of food from a range of countries and styles which is a nice change from the bog standard vegan bean burger. The starters were excellent (prawn cocktail and samosas). The curry main was okay but nowhere near the best we've ever had. The short rib was so interesting and unique and very rich. We had the "Eton mess" for pudding which had figs and weirdly balsamic glaze. They do seem to like experimenting with flavours! Breakfast was brilliant - fry up available as well as other options like avo on toast and pancakes. They also serve continental foods and pastries. If you go here I'd suggest getting the things that are difficult to get vegan elsewhere. The staff were all lovely and friendly. Would definitely recommend!

Pros: Adventurous, Wide range of options, Good atmosphere and staff

Cons: Flavours can be odd

Anniversary meal

Lots of choice. We had the mushroom starter and soup, then the suet pudding which was great. My wife had the lasagne special which was average. The desserts were excellent as were the staff. Breakfast the next morning was great. Think they need to replace the leather seats in the fireplace area however if they want to call themselves a 100% vegan establishment. However it is a lovely place .

I think that is why they call it plant based. In the question section on the website they say that they are not replacing non- vegan things as it is not environmentally friendly. However, anything that they do replace is vegan.

Roast

We booked the Sunday roast and after a great walk that morning, we sat down in the cosy dining room to enjoy it.
There were three “meat” options accompanied by roasties, veg, cauliflower cheese and joy-of-joys Yorkshire puddings all smothered in fantastic gravy. We were in Heaven!
After demolishing our fantastic roast dinner we followed it up with sticky toffee pudding - another triumph!
We left feeling happy and full, which is exactly what you want after a delicious Sunday dinner.
Highly recommended but make sure you book because they were busy and we saw a few folks turned away who hadn’t.

Delicious

Ate here for (non resident) breakfast one Sunday in November. Very easy to book a table via whatsapp and their website. Lovely chai pudding. Sourdough toast very nice indeed (w avo and carrot lox). Relaxed ambience inside. Would recommend this place, especially to dog lovers. Would return to try Sunday dinner etc!

Pros: Easy to reserve a table through whatsapp

Fantastic with some minor improvements

We ate here three times in three days. Some dishes are definitely better than others but the quality was very high overall and we would love to come again.

Banana Blossom Fish and Chips was awesome but some slightly odd flavours in the sauces. Desserts and Starters were all really nice. Really enjoyed the roast but thought the cauliflower cheese could be cheesier and there were no yorkies😒
The Kofte dish had wayyyy too much parsley. We laughed about it at the time.

Portions all very generous.

As someone who is uncomfortable around dogs that I don’t know after being attacked a few years ago, I would appreciate dog/no dog zones, much like smoker/non-smoker in the 90’s!

Pros: Very large portions , No nuts in the restaurant, Fresh

Cons: Dogs everywhere, Parsley lol

Lovely break

Stayed here with my partner for a night for our joint birthday in early October, it was overall a fantastic break.
There were a few minor things that we felt let down by, firstly there was some miscommunication over the phone from the general manager; on the journey over we called to say we were running 1/2 hour late for our reservation, and were made to feel like we weren’t able to eat that evening due to the pressure of the kitchen needing to be closed by a specific time. It was disappointing to see the restaurant full upon arrival and new customers still coming in. We managed to have food and drinks but it did make us feel a bit out of place initially. Secondly, the bedroom was really quite mouldy with mould in the bathroom, and on the blinds in the bedroom which were very close to the bed. For breakfast I ordered pancakes which had far too much agave syrup on making the dish overly sweet and a little odd tasting. Despite these minor issues, we absolutely loved staying here, the area is stunning and it was great to such a wide variety of food and cocktails to choose from.

Excellent but not perfect!

It feels a bit churlish not to give this place a five because it's so wonderful having a 100% plant-based hotel. However, my partner's Indian thali was not great. (She's not vegan so it was especially disappointing...) The worst bit was the main curry part, which tasted like it came out of a packet. However, everything else was fabulous, especially my steak pudding and sides and the sticky toffee pudding. The wines and friendly staff and breakfast were all fantastic too. You have to like (or at least tolerate!) dogs. They're a bit of a feature. Hopefully next time (and there will be a next time) all will be perfect! (Probably from picking a different option...)

Pros: Steak pudding , Breakfast , Staff

Cons: Indian thali

Simply the best!

Absolutely loved it here. We stayed for the weekend, arriving in time for dinner on Friday, and staying for Sunday lunch. Ate there every day. Every meal was spot on.

Loved our room. Can’t go wrong with a proper comfy sofa in the room.

Truly relaxing stay towards the end of September. Cannot wait to visit again!
