Separate vegan menu - Edit
Ordering is done via tablets and there is a separate vegan section with several options. The portions were very big. No seating except outside.

Great battered sausage, underdone chips - Edit
Nice to see extensive vegan options at a chippy and the vegan battered sausage was tasty, but the chips were a bit underdone for my taste.

Avoid - Edit
Really wanted to like this place as it is in a fantastic location right on the seafront and has various vegan items on the menu. Unfortunately the vegan sausage in batter was so chewy I wasn't able to eat it and the chips also weren't the best. Won't be going back

Below average for vegans - Edit
I was in Margate to help at my dad's festival, he's veggie but used to love fish and chips so we popped to Beach Buoys for lunch as I saw they have a lot of vegan options. I've never liked fish so I went for the chicken burger which had vegan mozzarella, onion rings, kale slaw, gochujang ketchup and fried pickles. I wasn't really a big fan of this, everything was so greasy and it immediately fell apart, plus I don't think there was any ketchup which might have cut through the grease and super creamy slaw. The others who tried the banana blossom fish didn't think it was great either, even Johnny said his battered vegan sausage wasn't as good as the frozen Aldi one! The fried pickles were great though, hard to go wrong with those. It's a cute pink shop on the seafront but it's not cheap and in my opinion not worth the money. It might be great for people who actually like fish and chips. Service was also pretty poor.

Good vegan options - Edit
Vegan options are great, I enjoyed the vegan fish last time I was here however this is no longer on the menu. They offer vegan battered sausage and vegan alternative to katsu fries

2 stars just for having a vegan option - Edit
Have been twice now. The service is hot or cold. The first visit i was 'served' by a stroppy adult teenager yet the second time the guy couldnt have been friendlier (different staff members) the banana blossom fish didnt taste good. There were plenty of chips but a third were under cooked. The second time i had just chips and again they were not cooked properly and the portion was small for £4. Pop along to shakey shakey in ramsgate instead if you want a decent meal

Loads of variety and pretty huge portions. The banana blossom was great but the battered tofu was particularly good! Recommended 👍

Huge selection of vegan options - Edit
I loved Beach Buoys! The restaurant itself was super cute and the staff were really friendly. It’s great to have so many vegan options on hand. I got the banana blossom with chips - now while the chips were the great the banana blossom wasn’t my favourite. I tried the battered sausage and fried pickles, which were much better options. When I go back I’ll be avoiding the banana blossom in favour of those instead.

Great portion size, lovely banana blossom - Edit
Great location, good price and large serving size. Cost us £13 for banana blossom, chips, and 2 battered sausages which was all enough for 2 people to share. The restaurant is small so you’ll be lucky to eat in, but the sea wall is opposite so you can easily takeaway and eat anywhere. Touchscreen ordering is always a great bonus!

Great vegan selection - Edit
Beach Buoys is right on the seafront very close to the Turner gallery so ideally situated for visitors to the area. The vegan selection is big - I had the battered miso tofu and my partner had battered sausage, both were really good. We also had some battered gherkins to share (first time trying that!). Chips are nice and crispy too.
Read moreOrdering is done at a touchscreen, and they send a text message when it's ready to collect. It was all nicely packaged and came with salt, pepper and vinegar sachets.
Would definitely revisit.

Tasty blossom by the beach - Edit
I've tasted the banana blossom with chips and vegan tatar. The portion is big, the blossom and the chips are very tasty. We ordered for takeaway to sit on the beach. The only problem was the cutlery, it wasn't sharp enough for the fried blossom, so I took my own (travel set).

wonderful find on a day trip to lovely Margate - Edit
Beach Buoys was a wonderful find on a day trip to lovely Margate. Food was amazing and extremely large portions.
Read moreThey are open 7 days a week! Please note, many of the businesses in Margate are only in operation Thursday-Sunday.
I had the battered banana blossom and couldn’t resist the battered tofu as well! I had vegan tartar sauce as a condiment. The vegan menu is totally separate, which is another plus…
I love the fact they are conscious of vegan items all being prepared and cooked separately, as well as catering
for coeliacs too, also with plenty of gluten free options.
Location could not be more central and is right by the sea!
Looking forward to going back.
Pros: Perfect location by the sea , Vegan menu

Amazing separate vegan menu which is all gluten free. - Edit
First time I’ve found a vegan battered sausage in 15 years and all gluten free. The mixed vegan selection was delicious, battered kale, who knew!! The vegan calamari and battered tofu was also excellent. Vegan taratar sauce too!

Good chips - Edit
The chips were good. I had to banana blossoms, the batter was seasoned but the blossom it’s self didn’t seem flavoured, I would get them with a dip/sauce next time. Other vegan options to try too. Sat on the sea front to eat 👍🏻

Nice and cheap - Edit
Very nice to see vegan options in this fish’n chips shop. good value for money; expect big portions of greasy fastfood. Quite a bit of chaos when it’s getting busy.

Ok - Edit
It seemed like minimal effort had gone into the banana blossom f*sh. It was lacking some herbs, spices and nori, and tasted quite acidic. Sadly it's only 2 stars as it does need some improvement compared to banana blossom f*sh and traditional seaside chips that we've had before. But staff were friendly, and it's a great location with fabulous seating outside with a lovely view.

Banana blossom and pickles! - Edit
So good to have vegan fish and chips right on the sea front! You get LOADS of fried pickles and a decent amount of fried banana blossom too. Personally I preferred the skinny fries to the classic chip shop chips :)

Best vegan fish & chips! - Edit
Best vegan fish & chips I’ve ever had! The fish is made using banana blossom and has such a similar taste and texture to regular battered cod you’d get at a fish and chip shop. The batter is amazing and all vegan items (including chips) are fried in a completely separate fryer! The portions are really generous so great value for money. I also ordered batter bits which are free of charge and came in a huge box.
