So this place was probably more like a 3.5 because the food was good…there was just a lack of vegan options compared to other eateries in England. There was a case full of beautiful vegan baked goods with only one vegan option. It was the super food flap jack, which if you are from the US, is like a granola bar rather than a pancake. We also ordered the vegan melt with caramelized onion chutney and it was pretty tasty but small. The iced chocolate was yummy but request extra chocolate if you get it…you’re welcome. 😉

I had the most delicious vegan sausage roll, unfortunately the shop was closing when I arrived so didnt manage to try anything else but there were cakes and sandwiches available too!

Exquisite vegan cakes - Edit
This week I had the pleasure of trying some of the Barleycorn's selection of cakes and I have to say that I was not at all disappointed by the quality and standard. The first was the avocado and courgette/zucchini sponge cake which was incredibly moist and topped with a delicious green icing. The second was a chocolate sponge and again it was moist and had an amazingly deep chocolate taste. The option of eating ready-made vegan food and vegan cakes is a real treat for me in this part of the world and I feel lucky that the Barleycorn is just a few minutes walk from my home. I am looking forward to all the other cakes and desserts that will be on offer in future weeks.

Delicious food - Edit
The fact that I eat here a couple of times a week should be enough to indicate how much I enjoy their food. The staff are all lovely people, there's always enjoyable & fun conversation and the food is delicious. They're always trying new recipes and welcome feedback on what they serve. It's all proper home-cooked food, made with love
