Delicious food, lovely owners

Despite what Happy Cow currently says, this place is open. The owners John and Anout are incredibly friendly and do understand veganism. There are not vegan labels in the menu but they made vegan versions of loklak and amok for us, which are both some of the best we’ve had in Cambodia. They grow and produce lots of the ingredients from their own garden, including coconut cream and palm sugar. Anout gave us tasters of both of these products and also gave us pumpkin coconut cake to try for free. They also make the most delicious pineapple juice. Would highly recommend visiting this place to experience the food and hospitality. It is slightly more on the expensive side ($6 for a main, $2.50 for a juice) and a bit out of town but honestly worth it! You can also rent motos from them - ours were in really good condition.

Pros: Lovely owners, Delicious and local food , Nice restaurant ambiance

Cons: A bit more expensive , Slightly out of town

Fresh food straight from their garden!

The restaurant relocated here during the pandemic and it’s a bit out of the town centre, but on the way to the Phare for the circus show. There are vegetable versions of all their dishes, which they make fresh and can customize to your needs so just ask for no fish sauce, oyster sauce, egg, etc. to make sure it’s vegan. The restaurant is on the second floor and there’s a lovely garden with coconut trees and vegetables where they source a lot of the ingredients! The space is quiet, breezy and spacious. Definitely spend some time chatting with the owners because they are amazing people. They don’t use any refined sugar (only locally made palm sugar) and are also zero waste (metal straws, cloth napkins).

Nice food

They had a good option of veg food. They have an amazing faux meat mushroom burger which isn’t on the menu but the owner offered us when we said we were veggie. Reasonable prices and free fruit plate for dessert

Okay food, lovely owners

I ate here after finding out that the vegan pizza place wasn’t open. Quick service and lovely owners. Clearly know what vegan means and are happy to alter dishes to be made vegan.

I had the amok (made vegan), which was okay but nothing special. Seemed to be lacking in sauce. It’s a nice place, but there are better vegan options around!

Pros: Vegan options

Cons: Serves meat

Honest food and prices offering the fastest and best western style service.

The staff, chef and owner's are very accommodating and value ones opinion to always make new dishes sourced from local friend organic farmers. The BAR ANG veggie stew is called Happy Mouth for good reason. Please make sure to ask for it first.
They can do almost everything on their eclectic menu for vegans and vegetarians.

Great curry, beers and company!

Bar Ang was one of our favourite Battambang dining experiences! Owners John and Anut are fairly new and welcomed us so warmly we ended up drinking and hanging out here here all evening! They are keen to make a good name for themselves and provide lots of vegan/veggie options. We shared the veggie Amok and veggie Khmer curry (both their specialities we were told) and drank a selection different craft IPAs that were on offer for only $2 a bottle that evening. John was keen to hear our feedback and we raved over both food and drink. I especially loved the Khmer curry with their own take on the dish with a spicy kick. It was also great to eat local food in a chilled bar setting.

NB. our curry wasn’t strictly veggie as had fish sauce in, but they would have been happy to omit if asked (and even mentioned they had been working on finding the best vegan substitute - watch this space!).

Pros: Tasty local food , Veggie, Vegan and Omni options, Great craft beer and atmosphere

Cons: Curries could’ve had more veg variety

well worth it for food and company

Wanted to say that we were pleasantly surprised with local, clean organic food, which was a great price and very tasty. John and anut really try their best to accomodate everyone, but are moving towards a plant based diet, hope they continue as they themselves are seeing the health benefits of this change, we felt like friends leaving there, hope we meet another day, very friendly people doing their level best to make everyone happy....they also rent scooters and motorbikes....support them they offer a local service in battambang, honest and recommended

Pros: organic food, no chemicals, friendly service

Is waiting your hobby? Come here.

I came here with my friends for breakfast. We were pretty hungry and we really wanted eat something good and fast. We were waiting for our drinks about 30 minutes and another 30 for food. Food was average.

Cons: long time waiting

Fantastic vegan Khmer curry

We went here solely based on tripadvisors recommendation to hire a motor. When we got here we decided to look at the menu as we were pretty hungry.

We were greeted by the loveliest of owners John, who is Canadian and his wife Anut, who is Cambodian.
They told us that even though they do meat and vegetarian dishes, they said the chef, Mom Cook, could accommodate for vegans too.

All their food is made fresh with local produce and you can tell they care about their food.

I ordered the Khmer curry with rice ($4.50) and my girlfriend ordered the vegetable pad thai without egg ($4) and a mango smoothie ($1.5)

My red curry was just incredible and the flavours were spot on! It had potatos, green beans, carrots, mushrooms and aubergine in it.
I've tried some Khmer curries whilst travelling through Cambodia and this is the best yet.

John also brought us some homemade green chilli sauce with lime juice and it was so good.

If and when you go, ask for it as it is not normally served but I think they are going to introduce it.

My girlfriend thought hers was tasty too, perhaps tofu would be a good addition to the dish but great nonetheless. She thought the mango smoothie was delicious.

John and Anut were so attentive and sorted us out with a great motor which we hired for the day. These motors are very well maintained.

Thanks again for a great meal and for looking after us =)

If I could give 5 stars I would but for some reason Happy Cow won't let me.

We would definitely recommend this place if you're in Battanbang.

Pros: Lots of dishes can be made vegan

Oh Adam thank you so much for registration help on this site and of course your beautiful kind words about our cuisine. Since you came we have really shifted our new menu to reflect healthy Vegan options and I myself have been flipped and feel great. I am learning protein replacement options and benefits and have not had any cravings. Now it's so easy for me to say this as I've the best chef in town and she's bought into the healthy new menu too and so our staff meals are incredible.
Why just today we ate the leaves from a vine we took down on the property.
Thanks again and God bless you two. You guys looked great together.

John, Anut and Mom Cook.
