Bright and bustling by day, speakeasy style by night. The Art Cafe serves cuisine inspired by the coffee shops of Tel Aviv and Europe, with a mix of traditional Israeli recipes and some new fare. The menu features dishes like breakfast granola bowl with fresh fruit, babaganoush platter with pita, impossible kabob served in a pita with Israeli salad an tahini, and avocado toast. Some of the vegetarian dishes can be made vegan upon request. Beverages are pour over coffee or french press, select espresso drinks, and an eclectic beer & wine list. Set in a blue house with front patio and rotating artwork displays inside. Est. 2005. Open Mon-Thu 11:00am-8:00pm, Fri-Sun 8:00am-9:00pm.

Great vegan options - Edit
Have gone back many times and really enjoy the pancakes and shashuka. There are many vegan options or items that can be made vegan. Really cute spot.

Vegan and gluten-free breakfast YUM!! - Edit
Chill atmosphere. I’m just visiting this area and randomly walked inside for coffee. I asked if they had vegan options and the guy thought I was messing with him 🤣. Their whole menu got vegan options 😍. I feel like I hit jackpot. I now have a spot I can go to the next time I visit here. The food also tasted great! I ordered the vegan and gluten-free breakfast and wow! I’m still a neophyte vegan. And experiencing enjoyable options help make this journey so fun for me!

So many vegan options! Lovely vegan cafe with an art theme. Nice outside seating and a cute inside as well. The waitstaff was fantastic and made great recommendations. Very nice Israeli style options.

The grain bowl! 😋 - Edit
If you’re vegan and find yourself in Rockland County than you must treat yourself to Art Cafe’s grain bowl. I cannot figure out the spice profile (because I would love to mimic this dish at home) but it is divine. We get the couscous/quinoa mix and then it’s topped with crispy marinated tofu, sliced almonds and whole green olives. We always get a side order of grape leaves with tahini sauce (again would love to know what they put in it). Art Cafe also offers hummus platters and a few other vegan options.

Hands down one of my fav places in Rockland. If you’re searching for delish food coupled with the epitome of that “Nyack Vibe”- then you’ve come to the right spot. Great atmosphere, cool people & bomb.com food. Art Cafe has tons of vegan options and just keeps adding more. Appetizers include hummus & pita, babaganoush and grape leaves, while entrees include salads, rice bowls, and a vegan breakfast that comes with a tofu scramble, pancakes, and toast (oh and coffee and juice) 🙌🏽The owner is super friendly, and there’s always local art hanging on the walls. Outdoor seating is available in the nice weather which is a bonus ⭐️

Cute place with some yummy options! - Edit
This is one of those places that while I like it and come here kind of regularly, I feel like it could be a lot better. I love the malawah! You can get it classic or with their delicious hummus or with vegan cheese 😋. All very good! They have various vegan milk options so you can make substitutions. Keep in mind that this is really a vegetarian place so the standard for most items includes dairy and there are eggs in others. The standard side salad that comes with the dishes, beware. It has a pesto dressing with dairy and you need to replace it. They don't tell you that... You can order everything vegan and you will still be served it without a thought. Only after having a bite did I realize, ask, confirm and get it corrected. So now I know when I order to substitute the dressing right away. It's a cute place and sometimes it's quite crowded. Sometimes it's not as clean as it should be. Sometimes they have left the garbage out too long and there are flies. They can do a better job on the "art" portion - love the idea but it's often not done that well. So... I come for the delicious malawah and that's what the 4 stars are for but they can be a lot better.

Best salads! - Edit
This place is a favorite breakfast locale for my family. I wish some options were vegan and not vegetarian. There are a lot of egg and cheese options... The sabich was amazing during my veggie days but I've given up eggs since seeing what happens in the poultry business. Def a place I frequent but end up getting the same salads without the cheese or eggs. If anything...the hummus and fresh pita is what keeps this vegan back for more!

Love it - Edit
Great place. The entire menu us vegetarian, though there are also vegan menu items (you will find many items that involve dairy and eggs but no meat). I would love to see them expand their vegan options but what they have is a nice, solid start. The food is reliably consistent and fresh. Service varies from excellent to "meh" depending on the day and the person you get as a server. Nice salads and delicious hummus. A great place for a hot tea or coffee. Casual, cute atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. Not the most comfortable chairs, and the indoor space is a bit cramped, but it's very charming and I love it anyway. A lovely hangout for the locals, and also a place that visiting folks seem to enjoy. Highly recommend overall.

GET THE RICE BOWL OMG - Edit
I live in NYC but I have relatives that live in Suffern and whenever I come out to visit we go here! The vegan rice bowl is so good, I crave it all the time. They also have vegan cream cheese for bagels! All options are clearly marked on the menu which is always helpful. Awesome place to go with non vegans because there’s great options for everyone.

Loved this place - Edit
I ordered the vegan rice bowl and it was delicious. While it was one of the only of the few available vegan options it was amazing! I recommend this place but the only problem I see is the food takes quite a bit to come out. Otherwise great place, love it!!!

one of my faves - Edit
There are only a handful of vegan options, but they are all clearly marked and delicious. The specialty rice bowl is the best vegan thing in my opinion, but the other vegan rice bowls are good too. The original malawah is sooo good on its own, but order a side of hummus if it's too plain. I'd stay away from the vegan salad. In my opinion it's kind of blah, plus why order a salad when there are so many better options? FYI the hummus toastini isn't marked as being vegan, and I asked why and it's because the bread isn't vegan. I had it a long time ago and it was awesome though for any vegetarians.

Eclectic Atmosphere, Average Food - Edit
The atmosphere at Art Cafe is really what I would come back and bring friends for. The wait on Sunday at around 1:45 was 45 minutes long for a table for two, they do have a coffee bar where you can order drinks while you wait and coconut milk at the bar in the creamer section (for no extra charge) as well as soy and almond milk as a milk choice when ordering. I would probably come back and just have a drink next time as the food was okay but very under seasoned. I had high hopes when I saw the long line and how adorable Art Cafe is but overall I wasn't very impressed for the price of over $12 per plate. They do label their vegan items which gets them an extra star in my book.

not so vegan-friendly - Edit
My omni and ovo-lacto friends love this place. I have been here a couple of times and have tried two of the five vegan items. So far I am unimpressed. The hummus sandwich had about one tablespoon of hummus on it, and I waited almost 30 minutes for it, so that was the last time I've been there. If my friends really really really really want to go back, I will try one of the other three dishes and report back. But for now, if you're vegan and visiting Nyack, there are better places for vegans to eat.
