Good honest breakfast food - Edit
We needed a cafe open early on a Saturday and with wifi. We found Amparos. Had the Rancheros, nothing too spectacular about it and the potato hash was a bit dry. However, it did fulfil our needs of a hearty breakfast. They did make a banana smoothie changing it to almond milk which I was very grateful for, although again, nothing to sing praises about. Would go again if needing a good feed but would not be my first choice.

Best vegan enchiladas ever!! - Edit
I never really bother to write reviews but created an account just so I rave about my experience. The food was so good and the staff was so attentive. I got the vegan enchiladas and it reminded me of my mother’s home cooked meals. It was a great experience.

Unfriendly service and rotten food - Edit
We had the skillet which would have been pretty good - if a little small - with a nice mix of veggies. But the banana blossom was rancid and inedible, with a strong chemical stench. We mentioned it and the server told us "thanks for raising it" and told the chef but did not offer an apology, a replacement, or a discount. He was rude throughout the entire experience making us feel stupid for asking for example if he had any decaf coffee - we don't drink caffeine for medical reasons and we know a lot about different methods for retaining quality flavour while minimising caffeine, and we asked in a very polite way if he'd happen to have any. He told us that decaf 'didn't really exist' and made it a sign of the quality of their own beans. We were told we'd be shown photos of their beans but that didn't happen. I'd say don't bother going there as there are so many lovely places in Cozumel just a stone's throw away with great service and fantastic food.

amparos was the best restaurant i visited in cozumel hands down. we went back twice because it was that good. i ordered the vegan breakfast scramble and added habanero sauce. i think about this meal all the time and can’t wait to come back and try it again.

Cool place with indoor and outdoor seating. Awesome murals make for really cool vibes. My breakfast was filling and delicious. It was not healthy food if that’s what you’re looking for.

Wanted to give 5 stars, but couldn't since it's not a fully vegan restaurant.. Anyways they have a vegan section on their menu and the enchiladas are THE BOMB DOT COM! The skillet was very good too. Would reccomend to any vegan.

i was here in amparos the other day and was suprised on how many vegan options they had i try their vegetarian burger without cheese it was delicious best i ever had the service was good and the owner seemed friendly and very nice i recommend this place is small please give it a try,,,support our local busnisses

I have really mixed feelings about this place. I walked in at about 11:30 am on a Saturday, and I felt like I had accidentally walked into someone’s house. There were kids sprawled everywhere and toys all over the floor...no customers. The man who was there (the owner?) said “sorry, we’re just moving some things around “. So I sat, and he was fairly accommodating to my needs (vegan/allergies). Some reviews I read elsewhere said they had GF pancakes but that was not the case and didn’t seem like it ever was. While I waited for the food the kids (a bunch, toddlers and little kids) yelled and ran around loudly all over the place, even almost crashing a bit truck toy into my ankle, and no one said a peep...all the adults (owners family?) just ignored them and me. The owner never came back to take a drink order, never brought or offered water. When I did ask for water and asked if it was filtered (this is, after all, México) the owner acted offended and as if my question was odd. All that being said, the food was pretty good, and they did have a section on the menu for vegan options. The decor was cute, and it’s easy walking distance from the ferry terminal. Also the prices were good. I really like to support businesses that are veg friendly, but the experience for me was so bad that I would not go back.

im very sorry you had such a bad experience i do apologize if you felt i was rude in anyway that was not my intention i was cleaning out a kids section we used to have with toys for the kids we are known to be a family restaurant and so i had made a little area where kids could play with toys and parents can enjoy their breakfast ..i did not get ofended by the question about the water all i said was i would not give you any bad water and laughed it was never ment to ofend you i was simply trying to be nice and also giving you the reansurance that i wouldnt give you bad water... but i do apologize if it came out the wrong way. and yes the feel when you walk into our restaurant is as if you where in our home..amparos means welcome, warmth and embrace, so we try and treat everyone like family is our home im glad everything else was ok the food, the price and the decour which is the most import thing for us and your only issue was with me and the kids so i apologize for that i really did not think i was rude to you i try to cater to all your needs and be as nice as i could i apoligize if i forgot your water i think i was both in the bar and kitchen alone that day im not sure because i also ran to the kitchen and cooked for you i though everything was ok i talk to you the whole time you was here answer all your questions and doubts and even warned you about the kids running around if you had said anything i promise i would of told them to move around but you didnt seemed bother by it at the time once again im sorry i really though you left happy i didnt see any frustration in your face you seemed ok when you left i mean we talk the whole time you was here i try to make you as comfortable as i could so im really sad you had a bad experience i wish you give us another some day and if anything bothers you tell us right there and then so we can fix the problem and their wont be any misunderstanding thank you for your visit and once again im soooo sorry
