Nice atmosphere . We had the Moroccan burger with fries which was delicious with a little kick to it . the vegan margarita pizza which was made in a pizza oven again delicious and the vegan hotdog . Food was lovely though only a small number of vegan options.

Vegan hot dog and pizza - Edit
Has a few nice vegan options. I got the moving mountains hot dog which was huge! I also had vegan dirty fries which I had to request as they aren’t on the menu but they came with vegan cheese and jalapeños. My partner had a pizza and it was incredible! Would be nice if they had more options but thoroughly enjoyed what we ate.

Superb fries - Edit
Quite enjoyed it in here. Reasonable selection of beers, but few IPAs. The fries, especially dirty vegan fries, were outstanding. Dirty vegan hot dog! Decent environment, nice, attentive staff.

Vegan Pizza. - Edit
We visited the tap house after finding the place on Happy Cow. There are a couple of vegan options but we chose the vegan pizza. It was amazing. Very good service and the price was reasonable. As soon as I ordered the pizza the waitress, without prompting then informed me on which of the real ales are Vegan friendly.

Nice spot for a bite to eat - Edit
Decent pub with a few vegan options. We visited on a Friday evening around 6 and it was fairly quiet however it got busy towards the end of our visit so would definitely recommend booking.

Good pizza - book in advance! - Edit
Tasty vegan pizza and nice place, however, we didn't get chance to book so we ended up on a tiny table right by the door which meant we were a bit cold 🥶 highly recommend booking in advance, especially at peak times!

Good value for money with plenty of options - Edit
I came here with family (omni), as there are both vegan and omni options. There were plenty of vegan options to choose from which was also what drew me here.
Read moreWe ordered the garlic flatbread for starter, as it was vegan. It was pretty good, piping hot, although could do with a little more of a buttery taste if I’m being picky.
I had the Moving Mountains hot dog for main, which was great value for money: £12 for a large hot dog covered in relish and mayo; a mayo dip; and a good-sized portion of chips. The hot dog itself was delicious - tastes almost exactly like a real hot dog! The relish was a bit too sweet, but overall it was really good. The dip was nice and the chips were perfect - crispy and salty.
Over all this is a nice place to get a both a vegan and omni meal. #Veganuary
Pros: Plenty of vegan options, No vegan upcharge, Not too expensive
Cons: Flavours were a little strange, Pizza was overcooked and lacking in flavour, Chicken was undercooked

Decent vegan options and dog friendly - Edit
It's a pub, it offers decent pub grub (burgs, hot dogs, pizza and sides) and it's dog friendly. I had a pizza and my husband had the falafel burger. I really enjoyed my pizza, it was big and toppings plentiful. His burger was a tad bland for being their spiced falafel burger and could've done with a spoonful of vital wheat gluten in the mix as a binder for the patty. Portions were big, beer options were good, service was friendly and fast.

Pleasantly surprised - Edit
Whilst stopping off in Ambleside I used the Happy Cow app to navigate to three recommended eating places which were all unfortunately closed. In desperation we abandoned the app and just began looking at menus everywhere we came across, which is how we found The Tap Yard. Not my usual type of place but my wife and I were hungry and needed to sit down desperately having skipped breakfast.
Read moreThe staff were very welcoming and helpful, not very busy to be fair but still everyone was great. The menu has a few clearly marked vegan choices and wasn't too expensive. I chose the vegan pizza and my wife had a vegan hotdog, apparently a new addition to the menu.
It must be said that the portion sizes are generous and both meals were tasty and satisfying. The Tap Yard wouldn't be my first choice perhaps and it is what it is, a pub offering pub food, but it offers food of a higher standard than the likes of Wetherspoon and has a better choice of vegan options. If you are in Ambleside and stuck for somewhere to eat you could do a lot worse.
Pros: Reasonable choice , Good quality for the price, Good sized portions
Cons: Possibly part of a small chain?, More of a pub than a restaurant , Obviously geared towards carnivores
