Delicious baked goods - Edit
The baguette was fresh and tasty, worked lovely for a sandwich. Let my non vegan dad try the apple pie and he didn't taste a difference! It is absolutely delicious and I see why they get the name. Vegan chocolate cookie was good, maybe a bit sweet for my liking but worked in 2 servings. The granola had recently been changed to a agave based sweetener, meaning it's vegan (as far as I could tell) which was lovely!! Amazing cafe

Great brunch spot - Edit
Was disappointed they’d sold out of the muesli, but the apple pie slice and Lebanese roll we had were great. They even added salad and the whole bill including coffee only came to £10!

Good lunch spot - Edit
Has couple of vegan sandwiches & cakes on offer as well as the eponymous apple pie. Arrived just too late for breakfast menu (choice of Bircher muesli or masala beans which sounded lovely) so had the soup of the day (sweet potato & chickpea) which was tasty. The gluten free bread with it was tasty but I only got one slice whereas my gluten eating partner had 2 portions of bread with his. It was particularly disappointing given I had to pay a surcharge of 50p for gluten free bread.

Not bad, not sure about all the fuss - Edit
Queues outside making us think that this would be something special. Not really. Not bad in terms of vegan options offered, but ridiculously overpriced for very average tasting food. Vegan apple pie and vegan ice cream were okay, didn’t pack a punch, and the americano was a disappointment in terms of size and taste. Tried it, probably not again.

Lovely light lunch - Edit
We just grabbed rolls to eat by the river and I had a lovely hummus & roast veg roll. The hummus was delicious, not sure what they had spiced it with but it was good! Also had the classic apple pie which was lovely and crumbly! Would recommend for a tasty, simple lunch

Tasty bean burger - Edit
A few simple vegan options but the mexican bean burger was delicious and the falafel wrap was huge. Dogs welcome. Outside seating super warm thanks to good marquee with heaters. Friendly and very speedy service. Reasonable prices. Would recommend!

Average - Edit
Overrated, and over marketed, just as nice deserts in other places

Need more options on the menu, but the apple pie is delicious and the best vegan apple pie I’ve had. They also do a lunch sandwich.

Amazing Apple Pie! - Edit
Glad I got to try the apple pie here. I had the vegan spiced apple pie with vegan vanilla ice cream (yes, they’ve listened to the previous reviews, now they have a vegan ice cream!). Together they are delish! Drinks were good too, many plant-based milk options to choose from. Can be busy with a bit of a queue during lunchtime.

Lovely takeaway - Edit
Grabbed a takeaway as just arrived in Ambleside and we were famished.. We had the Lebanese Roll and veg Masalla pie as the these where the 1st vegan options we saw on the board. Both hit the spot the massala pie was full of veg and would have been good as a curry on its own.

The apple pie is vegan! - Edit
Several vegan options on the menu including sandwiches, salads, a burger, and a pie. The twice-cooked chips are also vegan and are very good. The apple pie is delicious and vegan, but sadly there is no vegan cream, custard or ice cream to go with it.

Delicious Vegan Lunch Options - Edit
We were very impressed with The Apple Pie. The vegan options are clearly marked on the menu, and include black bean burgers, falafel wraps, and rolls. We tried all of them and they were very tasty. The apple pie slice was well worth it, especially after a long walk. There is also a bakery at the front, with take away options. All the bread is vegan and the sun dried tomato buns are a must try. You can also get Lebanese rolls there, which are basically vegan sausage rolls. These were great. All in all, the Apple Pie is a must visit for vegans or vegetarians staying or living in Ambleside.

amazing pie! - Edit
first of all:
Read morehow cool is it, that the apple pie this place is famous for and named after is vegan?
we stopped here for a quick snack and shared a roll filled with hummus and veggies, which also came with a little side salad. we noted that we'd share the dish so they already cut it in half and served it on two plates for us which i thought was super observant.
after that we had some tea with soy milk and spiced apple pie for me and a vegan chocolate cupcake for my partner.
all of which was super tasty!
Pros: vegan apple pie!, super friendly & considerate staff, quaint little shop
Cons: none
