Warehouse

Yes it’s small but they do have a good amount of options. This saved me yesterday when I needed some emergency vegan snacks.

Not bad but limited selection

Ambar looks promising from the outside, but like many other "natural product" shops in Istanbul, the selection is a bit limited when it comes to specifically veg. food.

Having said that, it's better than most, and you can get Tofu and a number of interesting sauces and variations on coffee, olive paste etc. The rest of the store has the usual types of herbs/spices/natural produce and it may be interesting if you're not exactly looking for veg. snacks.

For a better selection, try one of the Macro supermarkets in Nisantasi, or the Ecolife or Balya health stores in Cihangir.

Pros: Good location, Stocks Tofu and some other items

Cons: Limited selection

A great little shop

Ambar is a large health food store by Turkish standards, and a small one by other standards. They have a lot of your standard grains and pulses, and you can get soy milk and other basics there. They have a very good selection of essential oils there, and every time I have gone, the staff has been friendly and helpful. I wouldn't count on finding the things you usually get back home, but it is worth stopping in.
Also, just up the street is a restaurant called Ficcin, which has some veg options and is very good and moderately priced :)

Pros: Great selection of essential oils, Very helpful staff

Cons: Small
