Great meal

Food ranges from burgers and fries to rice dishes like green curry. There were good choices for sides and desserts! It was a satisfactory meal for my vegan cravings.

Pros: Helpful and friendly staff , Good atmosphere , Easy to communicate in English

Can’t praise highly enough

Fully vegan joint with burgers, curries etc..

It’s kinda expensive but so worth it. The fluffy pancakes are unreal.

Pros: Fully vegan, nice clean local, handy to find, Expensive

Amazing food. Amazing pancakes

The pancakes are simply the best anywhere. I love the rest of food I've had but I've never been to ain soph and not at least shared the pancakes with someone. This branch also has a matcha style version of the pancakes

Pros: Amazing food, Great service and atmosphere , The pankakes are something special

Cons: A little expensive, though still good value for m

Foodie respite after the temple crowds

My friend and I recently tried the branch in Tokyo and loved it. We knew we had to try the Kyoto branch, and after visiting Kiyomizu-dera, we were glad to check it out. The ambiance is shabby-chic with a genuine laid-back vibe. The waitresses are extremely nice and helpful. English is spoken, if that's a plus for some, and the menu has English as well. The best part for me, however, is the fact that menu items are clearly marked as to whether they are gluten-free or not. This is always a headache for me when finally finding a vegan restaurant, but then having to try and determine if I can actually eat anything without gluten or wheat. Thank you Ain Soph.Journey for having so many tasty gluten-free options, including desserts!

Pros: Lots of gluten-free options, Great dessert, Friendly staff

KARAAGE

I kinda just came by a sign that said “vegan” while wandering Kyoto and since i was hungry anyway and I know that I’m likely not gonna find another vegan spot for some time, decided to go in. Don’t regret it at all. I don’t think I’ve had vegan food that seemed this close to the real thing even in America. Vegan Karaage is something you must order, also had the katsu burger which was also really good, but the karaage really had me.

Pros: Pretty easy to find, even by accident, Their English is flawless, It’s not health food

Cons: Pricey

Awesome vegan food in Kyoto

Finding good vegan food in Japan is very difficult, so we were delighted to hear about AIN SOPH. We were not disappointed- the food was delicious and it’s in a great location surrounded by shops and public transport options. I had the salad+deli plate which included some karaage fried ‘chickn’ and tofu omelette - absolutely delicious! My husband had the fried ‘chickn’ burger and a side of the karaage ‘chickn’ and said it was mouth-watering. Will have to come back to try their desserts as we were too full.

Pros: Delicious food, Lots of options, Location

Cons: None

Fabulous eatery

We had a late lunch here and were very impressed with the menu selection from vegan junk food (burgers) to fusion style dishes. The mains were delicious but the bonus has to be the desserts which included a winter berry parfait and a creme brulee. Just so decadent and delicious. Plus they have vegan wines and beers. We could have stayed til closing but sightseeing called!

Pros: All vegan meals, Variety of dishes, Fabulous desserts

Cute atmosphere, good food, big portions

I called ahead to make a reservation on a Sunday at 6pm, but that wasn’t necessary. For dinner I ordered a large salad with the chicken cutlet, a side of karaage and wine. Everything was good, as expected from all the reviews here. The cutlet was actually more interesting than the karaage. I bet the burgers are tasty. I would definitely come back. The pancakes look so bomb, but I just can’t bring myself to pay 15USD for pancakes. Though to be fair I think this is meant to be a two person dessert.

Pros: 100% vegan, Generous portions

Cons: Expensive desserts

Lovely shop with junk food and salads!

They have both healthy salad and rice sets but also some burgers!

My favourite one so far is the ripple cheese burger. It’s juicy but not too much since the avocado and other veggies balances it up. The sauce is delicious!

Had the crispy “chicken” burger today. Very fat and crispy but with the tar tar sauce as well it’s a bit too much. Wish it had other veggies than just cabbage.

Big portions so couldn’t have any dessert but it look delicious so I’ll be back for more! 3

Pros: Good food & variety, Big portions, Easily accessible location

Cons: Don’t have the burgers on their online menu

Good choices

We went to Aim Soph in Tokyo and had the burgers which were very nice. When we got to this one we had eaten a big lunch so I thought I'd go for something smaller. I opted for the vegan Spanish tortilla, which was very authentic and tasted great, but was a tad small, in hind sight I should have opted for a side😉to make it up to myself I got a crème brulee and mulled wine, both of which were over indulgently delicious!

Pros: All vegan , Nice range of options, Great tasting food

Love it!

Awesome curry and really, really good pancake! Possibly the best pancake I've ever had. Burgers are awesome too!

Updated: We decided to visit Ain Soph.journey again tonight and magically, one of the staff remembered us and gave us our old pair of scissors which my wife left there 3 nights ago. The food was awesome still but we also felt warm at heart. Just the kind of feeling you'd like for Christmas.

Crispy “chicken” goodness

Delicious and filling crispy chicken burgers at this cute all vegan restaurant near the Nishiki Markets. Lovely service, great dessert menu too (though we were too full to try!).

Accommodating to allergies

The staff was very generous with accommodation to soy, gluten and corn allergies!

For those with the same allergies, the Vegetable Paella as it can be made without soy and gluten and the baby corn topping substituted with another vegetable.

Pros: Wonderful service in accommodating allergies, Generous portion considering this is Japan, Very charming interior
