Great food - Edit
The food was well presented, but the wait was long. Only one waiter, one cashier and one cook. The chocolate cake was quite hard and heavy. I’ll probably have the pancakes next time. The Ginza location was closed although the time on their website said “open.” Better to call and make sure.

Matcha Pancakes! - Edit
We went to Ain Soph Journey in Kyoto for a late dinner, and although a few of the dinner items were already sold out, we managed to get a really good dinner spread. Most of all, I wanted the matcha pancakes for dessert, but let me tell you, they can be a meal of their own. They were so rich and filling that I, a person who doesn't know how to stop eating, had to take half of them home. I had the leftovers for breakfast the next morning, and they were still delicious, even when cold. So good!

Delicious! - Edit
Having visited the Ain Soph Ripple in Shinjuku (and loved it), we decided to visit Journey in Kyoto because we’d been dreaming about the burgers we had and Kyoto seems to have a much bigger menu with lots of burgers and desserts.
Read moreI had the ‘chicken’ burger and it was delicious; crispy burger with crunchy red cabbage and a tangy tartare sauce. My husband had the Kyoto limited edition cutlet burger, which I of course had a big bite of, it was equally delicious with a sweet and salty Worcestershire sauce and creamy mayo.
I really wanted to try the pancakes but I was much too full after eating the burger but I plan to return for the pancakes because they indeed look heavenly.
Pros: 100% vegan menu , Delicious , Variety of options

Ordered the Cheese burger & Soy chicken burger, both were extremely tasty.
Best was yet to come......cheesecake was incredible, also had the chocolate gateau which was also great!
Overall, an evening very well spent! Location is great - a few minutes from the busy Main Street but easy to find! 👍🏼

Amazing - Edit
My new fave vegan joint in Kyoto. Best cheesecake ever ("New York cheesecake"). I would go back just for the cheesecake, but honestly the Ripple cheeseburger is crazy good as well. Take your non vegan friends here and let them be amazed lol! Came here 3 times during my stay in Kyoto and will be back next time for more!!!!

Burger and biscuits - Edit
Enjoyed the chicken and cheese burger. Preferred the chicken burger although they are quite heavy on the burger topping. They're biscuits to takeaway were a saviour on our trip.

Read moreThis is what we shouted when we discovered the Kyoto outlet of this restaurant group.
As per usual, the food, atmosphere, location and staff are excellent.
This time around we were fortunate enough to try new dishes, including the Taco Rice set and the Oriental mix (think fresh crunchy veggies with tofu omelette, deep fried vegan kara-age).
Would find it almost impossible to fault this place, in any case I wouldn't want to!
Thanks for raising the standards of vegan cuisine to such great heights (to quote The Postal Service).

Mains were pretty good. Nothing special, just good. Food took a little long but nothing out of the ordinary. Me and my wife didn't get the dishes at the same time but there was about a 15 minute interval, we weren't in a rush though. Overall pretty solid experience.

Wow wow best dessert ever! - Edit
So I was looking for something sweet after I had ramen at another restaurant nearby and discovered this place wasn’t far from where I was (5 min walk).
Read moreHonestly I don’t think I’ve had a better dessert in my life, it was so so so so nice! The pancakes were fluffy and very sweet, the fruits were delicious, the soy whipped cream - oh my lord I’ve never tasted anything so close to the dairy version - rum ice cream wasn’t too alcoholic and was just right and the blueberry sauce was perfect. I can’t speak for the dinner dishes but honestly the dessert I had was phenomenal! The price was ¥1,500 or ¥1,800 buuut it is definitely worth the price - it’s very filling and super yummy (by the way it is very very sweet, I can understand if some people find it too heavy - even I was struggling towards the end and I have a sweet tooth). Staff are super friendly here, would defo return.
Pros: Amazing dessert , Easy to locate

Good, Not Great - Edit
This place is great if you’re near Nishiki Market and need a bite to eat, however compared to Ain Soph Ripple in Tokyo, I wasn’t as impressed.
Read moreThe menu could be a little more diverse in its offerings. Burgers, salad or curry are really the only options, but it was enjoyable overall.
I’d probably go again but perhaps a specials board would help shake things up a bit!
Pros: All vegan, Reasonably sized menu, Nice staff
Cons: Expensive (for what it is), Could do with more variety

Terrible service, ok food - Edit
I asked if a simple substitution was possible, and if it wasn’t I had an alternative order. Waitress went across the room to see if it was possible, clearly made fun of me with another waiter like giggly teenagers so loud that I could hear. They then proceeded to ignore us for 25 minutes. Finally a different waiter came laughing at our table and said “we heard you wanted a substitution? You can’t do that.” Finally took our order and food came out 30 min later. The restaurant was empty so it wasn’t even busy. It was alright, nothing special. Ain Soph Ripple In Tokyo was way better. We came out do there feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.

Amazing pancakes - also lovely mains. - Edit
What an amazing place to stumble across! I had the nachos/chilli dish (can’t remember the name) and my partner had the cutlet burger. We both loved our meals and polished it off quickly. For dessert my partner had the chocolate gateau which he enjoyed and I had the pancakes which were SO! SO! SO! Good! I’m going to be dreaming of them for a while. So glad I got to try fluffy Japanese pancakes that were vegan.
