Very decent - Edit
This a vegetarian/ vegan restaurant. Their dishes are clearly labelled they have a large number of vegan options. The food tasted very good. Very decent/good place. I would come here again

Not good for vegans - Edit
I had high hopes for this restaurant as it serves dosas (my favourite) and pizzas (my husbands favourite). The menu looks great as it has vegan signs on most things. However I discovered that many items labeled vegan are not and most disturbing to me, the hosts did not seem to understand my questions about vegan items saying "well we can leave the butter off if you would like" for example. I ordered a paper dosa (without butter) and navratan curry, and my husband ordered a pizza (he eats cow cheese). They didn't ask him if he wanted vegan cheese so I suspect they do not have it. I didn't ask as they didn't seem to have vegan butter or cream for my dishes. My curry was disappointing, made with frozen mixed vegetables. They tried hard to fix it when I found it too spicy and were apologetic. They had vegan ice cream on the menu but none in stock. I think this place is probably really great if you eat dairy, but not very good for vegans.

As the reviewer below notes the prices are very high for food that isn’t particularly different from other veggie Indians. The vegan signs on the menu also aren’t accurate, so be careful to ask if something actually is vegan when you order.

Potential to be so much better - Edit
We had high hopes for this restaurant. All vegetarian, with so many vegan options. However, there were three things I found troubling:
Read more1 - the v sign on the menu signifying what was vegan appeared on loads of non vegan items
2 - the prices were eye wateringly high
3 - the portion sizes were really really small
Some of the dishes we had were delicious (aubergine and potato) but others were really poor (cashew curry appeared to just be cashew nuts and sauce with not one vegetable in sight).
With a few tweaks, this restaurant could be so much better.

Amazing Indian Food, Lots of Vegan Options - Edit
Growing up in an Indian household with homemade Indian food, I’m very fussy about Indian food and restaurants. 90% don’t pass the test but happy to say this one does! Really good Indian food and majority of the dishes are either plant-based or adapted to be plant-based!

Very friendly place and all freshly made. An amazing find and look forward to going back to try some of the other dishes. The recipes are all authentic too, so none of the usual ‘British-Indian’ dishes you tend to see in the typical Indian restaurant.
I love it spicy and they got that perfect without over doing it. At the same time sounds like they can make it mild or medium for those who don’t want that.
Going forward I hope they can use plant-based yoghurt as some dishes are not vegan because of that and I hope this can be explored and possible have a vegan mango lassi!

Lot of ingredients not available and expensive - Edit
We wanted to order vegan Pizza, Cappuccino and Indian Tea. Everything was not possible cause the ingredients were not available. Moreover the food was much to spicy, although we give waitress a hint for that in before. Finally each single food and drink part must paid, also the still water at high price (which is free in most restaurants).

Seems to work. It’s a fully vegetarian restaurant and for most dishes they make it vegan for you. I chose two dishes from the Indian menu. Very tasty.

To my surprise, many restaurants are closed on Sunday evening in London. Every time I looked up a vegan restaurant on Happy Cow, it turned out it was closed. Since it was late and I was hungry, I had no other option than to select a vegetarian restaurant close by.
Read more"1947 Restaurant and Bar" is both an Indian and Italian restaurant. The entire menu is vegetarian, however only around 20% is vegan. Many more meals can be made vegan, but so many of them had "cheese" listed as an ingredient that I didn't want to run the risk. What if there's an error in communication between the waitress and the kitchen? Or what if the chef accidentally adds cheese out of habit?
I had lots of time to make up my mind, because even though the restaurant was very quiet it took a long time until the waitress came to take my order. I selected vegan biryani because I like biryani and because I've tried it at so many restaurants that it's easy to compare.
It took a long time for the biryani to be prepared, but then it was served beautifully and smelled divine (as it should be). However, compared to other restaurants it's a rather simple biryani. It has only one kind of rice (it is often served with both white and yellow rice) and only a few vegetables. There was no tofu, mushroom, potato, no nuts or any protein source. Also, the yoghurt was missing (which is used to extinguish the fire caused by the spices). The portion was generous and the taste was good.
Although it was mentioned on the menu, "1947 Restaurant and Bar" adds a 12.5% service tax. Why don't restaurants just increase all prices on the menu instead of giving the customers a nasty surprise at the end?
Pros: big portion, good taste
Cons: slow service, 12.5% service tax, only 20% of the menu is vegan

The all veggie menu card was a perfect combination of Indian an Italian food.
