Delicious and unique! - Edit
Over half of the menu is vegan! All of the food we tried was very good and had interesting flavor profiles. They also make lots of fermented beverages in-house. The ginger one was fantastic.

Incredible falafel, some of the best I've ever had. Plus delicious homemade sodas. The staff were lovely and accomodating, even making me a special dessert as their vegan cake option didn't appeal. Overall amazing

A quaint and adorable hole in the wall and the last touristy part of town. But close enough for a quick 15 minute walk from Park Güell.

Indeed a gem. - Edit
Serves meat, but it’s very vegan friendly. Everything i ate there was amazing, they even had a vegan chocolate cake that was one of the best cakes i ever had. Beetroot soup was my fav. Falafel was great, i loved the pickled veggies in the pita thooo. Finishing with a mint tea, I succeeded in finding amazing middle eastern food in Bcn.

We had sourdough pita with falafel and eggplant, both were delicious! Will definitely come back for more. Beautiful fermentation station, I'm very curious to try their vegan cheese. Also the owners are thoughtful about environmental impacts and reducing their waste. (Except for meat lol)

Vegan Feta Cheese! Absolutely Amazing! - Edit
If you closed your eyes and tried the artisanal vegan cheese they make, you would swear it was soft Feta. I was so impressed. I even asked the owner if he would ship it to me. And I'm still trying to figure out how I can do that. That cheese is a life changer. Other food on the menu was also very tasty. But oh, the cheese!

Every time I take a bite of a meal at Zizinia I think "Yes!! This is what food should taste like."

Zizinia - Edit
We came here because of all the great reviews. The staff was friendly, spoke english and understood what veganism meant... or so they said. We got 2 starters with bread which was alright. Not as good as promised by the other reviewers. The main was rice, zucchini and some sauce. Since we were clear about wanting vegan food we ate. Afterwards i asked what was in the sauce since i was curious. They said "home-made yoghurt". I asked surprised "milk yoghurt"? They apologized [Edit by staff - please see tos]. As an ethical vegan i do all i can not to eat animal products but in this case it was lactos which i'm intolerant to... [Edit by staff - please see tos]

Had such a great experience eating lunch here today. The owners were very helpful talking me through the vegan options (which were delicious)! Everything was so full of flavour, a must try in Barcelona!! I was especially happy to learn that they make everything in shop. Super fresh and tasty food! My vegan meal was definitely worth 5 stars!

I wish this place was Vegan.. - Edit
Because then I could have given it 5 star rating.. but unfortunately they serve meat. The good thing they have a very good vegan food as well. We came at evening and by the owner (the nicest owner ever!) Recommendation we toke 2 Menus, and another two salad tapas .. so we tasted all the salads, and they were delicious..with no salt added which is amazing..so you can really taste the aubergine (in the babaganush)
Read moreFor second course we had Pita with great salad inside and falafel balls, it was just in the right amount, it's was really wonderful "bocadillo". Last we had the great Basbusa, which I wish those weren't the last pieces at that moment.. so defiantly will come back..

thank you inbal for your kind words, i am glad that you enjoyed your meal and look forwards to seeing you again.
Read morei would like to address your comments re 100% vegan...
when we started at zizinia some years ago, we were very aware that we wanted to serve mostly vegetarian food, this was both for ecological reasons and because we understood the difficulties of obtaining healthy meat that has been raised, treated and slaughtered in a fair way (from a carnivore's point of view) and can be offered at a reasonable price
.
however as time has gone by and we have had the opportunity to learn more both about veganism and the impact of dairy, poultry and bee-keeping, we have wanted to produce more vegan food...
we do however believe that there is an urgent need for more open debate about these issues and since most of the population is largely ignorant about the impact of the food which they eat, it is important that carnivores are offered convincing alternatives in a 'friendly' environment.
for the time being we shall offer a small amount of (farm raised) chicken and some dairy products , and we hope that omnivores will enter our space and be encouraged to be more discerning about what they pop in their mouth...hopefully more vegan for a better world for all of us.

Made a real effort for us :-) - Edit
Even though we arrived shortly before he was due to close for the afternoon, he welcomed us in, took time to explain the different dishes and didn't rush us to finish eating. Also charged less for the vegan version of the daily menu.
Read moreEverything we tried was really tasty, home-made and fresh. There was pitta and dips for starters - obviously hummus but also a dip made from walnuts and peppers that was great. The main was falafel in pitta with salads, served with a nice hot spicy sauce. None of the cakes were vegan so he gave us some homemade turkish delight with pistachios.
Such good service we felt it deserved a review!

Fantastic falafel fun! - Edit
Read all the positive reviews and decided to visit Zizinia, the place lives up to the 4-star rating. We'd most likely all give it 5 stars but as it serves meat we can't, due to restrictions on the app.
Read moreTook the menu del dia and was very happy, the falafel was fantastic, you could taste all the different ingredients along with the falafel in the pita, and the accompanying chilli sauce was very flavourful.
With a glass of sparkling water cordial to wash it down, then some tea with dessert all for 8 euros, it is very reasonable.
A nice variety of options for vegans.
