Really Enjoyable Breakfast - Edit
Yolk was one of those places I never really liked the look of - from the outside I would say it fit the stereotype of overpriced and pretentious food where the proportions were likely to better suit a child than a grown-up. Probably that says more about me than Yolk, because I have to say I thought the food was really satisfying.
Read moreI had the “woodland”, which is basically toasted sourdough bread, with a layer of spinach, followed by mushrooms and *egg - which in the veganised version that I enjoyed is scrambled tofu. The tofu itself was perfect, full of flavour, not in the least bit dry or rubbery as it can be, and overall was egg like enough to remind me of eggs without ever introducing any real doubt that it wasn’t tofu. The mushrooms were thankfully not watery, and they took on the flavour of the truffle oil to complement the tofu perfectly.
Overall, I was delighted with the food and thought the cafe itself was cosy and bright. Can’t recommend Yolk enough and will certainly try a few of their other options in the future.

Yolk. - Edit
Popped in for brunch on a weekday, it was pretty busy but they were able to find me a table. I had the Woodland which had truffled mushrooms, spinach and scrambled tofu on sourdough toast with a little pot of hollandaise sauce on the side. I really enjoyed it and it was a decent size portion. Multiple plant milks available for hot drinks, would’ve liked my oat latte to have been a little hotter. Prices are a little on the high side even for a city centre venue. Staff were lovely and there wasn’t a long wait for food, I would think at weekends you may need to wait for a table and for food to arrive as it’s pretty popular!

Yolk is no joke - Edit
Friendly staff offer a warm welcome.
Read moreSmall interior but they own 31k next door and offer seating in there if yolk is full.
Clearly labelled vegan options on most of the menu.
Multiple milk alternatives for coffees.
We opted for the full English and the cowgirl. These were large portions to set the day up nicely.
Spiced beans (almost like a chilli) were really tasty.
The vegan black pudding on the full English was really nice too.
The coffees were really good too.
Very popular place (the Bloody Mary seemed to be a popular choice for locals)

Yeah yolk! - Edit
Ik had de vegan woodland. Die was zó lekker dat ik er wel twee van had kunnen eten. Niet dat de porties klein waren hoor, het was gewoon super lekker!

Amazing breakfast - Edit
Had the full vegan breakfast though there were a variety of other options that looked good too. The best breakfast I've had out in a long time! The beans and sautéed spinach were expecially good.

Decent breakfast but long wait - Edit
Although yolk has a small menu, there is still a decent amount of choice. I had a vegan full English which was very nice, although more on the healthy side than I was hoping! The sourdough was really tasty, and the potato hash bites were gorgeous. The scrambled ‘eggs’ were nice. The ‘black pudding’ didn’t taste much like black pudding but that’s probably a good thing 😂. The avocado (I think) was absolutely delicious.
Read moreUnfortunately I had to wait nearly an hour for the food, and around twenty minutes for tap water. I’d also say it’s slightly overpriced.
Pros: Decent choice, Nice food
Cons: Slow service, Overpriced
