Best vegan sunday lunch - Edit
We had a fantastic meal on Sunday. I ate a vegan wellington parcel with lentil-and-what-not filling which was surprisingly tasty. It was served with all the trimmings one could have wished for plus potato and even Yorkshire pudd!!
Read moreIt wasn’t easy but I stuffed it all down and went home with a big belly, super satisfied 😋
Next time I’ll take a photo too!
Pros: Full vegan wellington and roast, Quite a few vegan options including desserts, Gorgeous setting
Cons: Not cheap, Needs booking otherwise it’s full

Overpriced, greasy food and slow service - Edit
Went here with my family for dinner to celebrate passing my degree and wow it was a let down.
Read moreFirst of all the service was just so slow. It wasn’t even massively busy but we just seemed to be waiting and waiting to order and then be served which wasn’t good for rumbling tummies!
I also felt that the food was overpriced. £16 for a vegan Sri Lankan curry (which we noted was the same price as the chicken Sri Lankan curry) which was swimming in grease (see photo) and came with a little pot of rice and naan (GF bread for my mum) is just crazy expensive. To compare, I just wrote a review for an Indian restaurant where I had the best curry of my life and £15.99 gets you poppadom and 5 vegan condiments, a starter, a curry and a rice/vegan(!) naan - which were all amazing and the portion sizes were huge - enough to take leftovers home and have for dinner the next day! By contrast, we left the white horse having spent lots on very little and feeling rather dissatisfied.
I had the harissa nut roast, which was a more imaginative main and nice enough but nothing to write home about. To make it vegan, you have to forgo the tzatziki sauce as well, which is the case with a number of the mains (only 2 are vegan as is, the rest are lumped within the vegetarian options). The sweet potatoes fries were good, but not exactly something special to the white horse!!
My mum had the Sri Lankan curry which she said was “virtually inedible” due to the amount of oil swimming on it. She actually had to use a spoon and napkin to remove the worst of it off the top. It really was an unbelievable amount!!
My dad had the meat-free linguine bolognese. It was nice enough but mostly pasta, again a bit greasy and nothing special (there was nothing really in the bolognese except vegan mince and tomatoes). £14 for it was an absolute rip off for what you get, especially since he can make a much MUCH nicer one with red wine, mushrooms and garlic etc at home! He also cooks his with no oil, so it really isn’t necessary for the food to be that level of greasy!
My omni sister and her fiancé had plenty of meat/fish options which seemed to be much more worth the price and just more... imaginative.
Overall we felt the white horse’s vegan offerings were overpriced, overly greasy and unimaginative. We will not be returning.
NB. The description above with vegan burger, vegan sausages and mash etc is outdated

Great choice of veggie & vegan options. I had the vegan summer harvest bowl and coconut sorbet for dessert. It was all delicious. They also do other sorbet flavours and a fruit salad.
