I miss wegmans!

I left Rochester in 2016 and I will forever miss wegmans! I lived in the Caribbean and now in Asia, and while both have been a vegan culinary delight, nothing beats the convenience and quality of the best grocery store in the world!

Vegan grocery options

A nice selection of foods in their health food sections but also has health foods throughout the store. I was able to find items I can’t normally find at home. Stopped here to pick up some coconut yogurt and almond milk while on a road trip. I was able to find vegan options in their prepared foods, vegan poke bowls and sushi!

You’re so lucky to have wegmans!

We’re from the city area of NY and there are no wegmans. We knew we needed to check it out for the impossible meat alone and it was amazing! Great selection of gluten free and vegan options, even in their prepared food section. Love this place and will be stocking up before we head home!

Vegan Pizza Options

They will let you buy packages of vegan cheese from the health food section of the store and make you a pizza with it with vegetable toppings. On the weekends there are lots of prepared vegan options with ingredients listed in the descriptions on the cooked food bar area.

We are lucky to have WEGMANS!

It is one of the best supermarkets in the country. For price, convenience, creativity and selection, it can't be beat. The staff is so well trained to make sure you hav ea good experience here.

Their "Nature's Market" has plenty of vege items that otherwise you would only find in specialty stores. Their produce is the most beautiful you can find anywhere and there is a large selection of Organic items as well.

When visitors come to some cities they get taken to museums and art galleries. When people visit Rochester, they get taken to Wegmans.

All that said, they have a prepared food section that has some vegan items. These are usually really greasy and overpriced. But if you are in a hurry , then go for it.

We love "Weggies".

Pros: Good selection, Great produce, Nature's Market

Good for Staples

Update for the Ridgemont Store: This location has seriously expanded their vegan selections in both the take out food section and the refrigerated/frozen section. It's definitely worth a trip to check it out.

There's no question that Wegmans is a good grocery store. If you're looking for produce or vegan staples you'll probably be able to find them here. With Wegmans a lot depends on which store you're visiting. I spend a lot of time driving from store to store to find what I'm looking for. For example I drive to Pittsford for Myokos and Kite Hill cheeses, though I can find Kite Hill yogurt in my local store. I have much worse luck in prepared foods. The Wegmans near where I work (so typically where I go to get a quick lunch) has nothing I can eat aside from veg sushi and salad (as is the case with many local Wegmans). I can almost never find vegan soup on any of the soup bars and unless I'm at Pittsford the food bars are sparse, at best, with vegan food. Baked goods are another problem. Some stores have store baked vegan cookies, mine does not. When I asked I was told they won't carry them. For day to day staples I'm fine with Wegmans but for more specialized and up to date vegan choices I go elsewhere or order on line.

Pros: Convenient , Good prices

Cons: Not very up to date with vegan products, Stores vary widely in terms of what's availabl

best grocery store

Wegmans is my favorite grocery store. Consumer reports agrees with me and voted it the best grocery store in the United States.
This location is one of their biggest. It has a huge Health food section and a huge gluten-free section. They also have a hot food buffet which includes a vegetarian section, an Asian section a salad bar, and a hot veggie section. The ingredients are clearly shown and items are marked when they are vegan or vegetarian. I had a four grain dish with exotic mushrooms and truffle oil which was outstanding. I also had a kale salad, shredded brussels sprouts, grilled veggies, and a few tofu dishes. The buffet includes many gardein products. They charge by weight and our family of 4 ate for $32. I like that the vegetarian items are not right beside the meat items.
The groceries are less expensive than whole foods and health food stores. I also love their app. The app tells me what aisle items are located in and the price. When I need items not available near my home like xanthan gum or potato starch or arrowroot flour, I enter it in the app and wait until I am next at Wegmans to pick them up. I can stock up on all my ingredients for a good price at one place. I wish they had more locations and one closer to my home.

Pros: huge health food section, lots of organic items, hot buffet
