I'm sad that I forgot to take photos but I was too hungry! Everything was amazing. It was late in the evening and a little slow when I arrived so I was able to sit immediately and order all vegan. They did say at the end of my meal that if you are vegan and planning to come, it is best to call ahead and they will plan for it as sometimes it can be difficult to accommodate when they are busy.
Read moreVegan tomato salad, spinach salad, tempura and soba noodles were the dishes I enjoyed at wataru. I also had some very nice cold sake.
Please give Wataru a visit if you are nearby for a very delicious and unique soba experience!

Staff didn’t understand vegan or vegetarian. Some tofu entrees but that’s about it. No soba noodle dish and staff had no idea what I was referring to when I asked.

The restaurant and the two brothers were featured in the "plant based Tokyo" book. Brothers have limited English but clearly know what vegan is.

* Boiled peanuts. Don't think I've even had peanuts served like this before. Really good, salty.
* Eggplant with onion and lime, very delicate with a nice lime twist
* Spinach and seaweed salad
* Chestnuts, delicious and a tad sweet
* "Fake duck ball" in seaweed sauce
* Tempura of dancing mushroom, squash, and lilly
* Soba noodles with a vegetarian broth
If there was a menu, I didn't see it, the food came out in a course set, and all complimented each other really well.
