Gluten free and vegan waffles! - Edit
My gluten/free, vegan waffle was great. I was able to choose my own toppings. I had one sweet waffle with strawberries, coconut, walnuts, and maple syrup, and another waffle with a black bean burger and vegan cheese. Both were excellent. My friend (who is vegetarian but not vegan and definitely not GF) had a normal wheat waffle with strawberries, dairy whipped cream, and nutella, and said hers was great too. Sure to be a hit with families, tourists, and students alike.

Great waffles - Edit
Delicious vegan waffles with lots of options for toppings. Looked like a good portion of the menu could be made vegan. Coffee was great too.

Great breakfast in Ithaca - Edit
Delicious vegan option waffles and outside seating- great place for breakfast in Ithaca, especially during COVID times. Lots of vegan toppings and many choices of plant milks for your coffee, including oat milk which is my hands down favorite.

Vegan waffles and ice creams! - Edit
They have really good vegan (and gluten-free) waffles that can be topped with many vegan-friendly toppings. Their vegan chocolate ice cream that I got on top of my waffle was really good!

Really good waffles - Edit
I'll keep this short. The waffles were delicious, and fairly priced. I had mine with a bit of powdered sugar, earth balance, real maple syrup, and fresh local strawberries. I'll try the waffle dog next time around.

Waffle dog! - Edit
I came here to get a quick bite, mostly in the interest of trying the Waffle Dog. It didn't disappoint! It tasted like a real hot dog, and the waffle coating was an interesting twist. The waffle batter is gluten free but it did not make a difference taste wise.

My kids love this place! - Edit
Nice informal place. They have a few solid vegan options. It is a hit with the kids. Not a health-kick, but a nice for the occasional junk food meal. Vegan sandwich waffle is fun and good with real maple syrup. The servings are a little on the small side, but the price is fairly reasonable. Food is ordered and picked up at the counter. 3.5 stars

Vegan options, not terribly knowledgeable staff - Edit
Recently went to Waffle Frolic excited to try a few things on their menu. they had a special that was a cinnamon roll waffle and I asked if it was able to be made vegan and was told yes. Then I asked if they had cream cheese frosting they would put on it and the staff member looked at me funny and said, "no... it's cream cheese." So essentially they can't make the special vegan. I said that was ok, no cream cheese frosting...I was getting the waffle to go anyway and could whip up my own cream cheese frosting at home. I also ordered the vegan waffle corn dog. Finishing up my order the cashier verified I wanted my waffle to be vegan and then asked if it was for preference or allergy. Weird. When I got the waffle it had been made "for here" and the cream cheese frosting was on it. I already had my corn dog and didn't want to wait around anymore so I asked for a refund on the waffle and left.

Fun but Not Amazing - Edit
I was so excited to find a place with vegan waffles and ice cream... served together! The waffle was very good, but it was bland with just the ice cream. The additional toppings were overpriced. The place wasn't very clean, either.

More than just waffles - Edit
My family was in the area and wanted ice cream, so I found this place on HappyCow and suggested it. I had never eaten coconut products nor any vegan ice cream, so I was a little apprehensive at first. I ordered vanilla ice cream with no toppings- although if I had wanted them, there were a plethora of add-ons available. I was delighted to find that it did not, as I had feared, "taste like sunscreen." I could barely taste any coconut flavor at all- it was just like real ice cream! My family didn't order waffles with ours, so it was only $1-$2 per scoop. The portions were huge! My other family members enjoyed theirs, as well.

Festive cafeteria feel - Edit
Very popular spot for students. Atmosphere is a bit like a cafeteria that's holding a special weekend brunch. You order at the counter and wait for your name to be yelled out. Coffees are made on their own schedule - don't expect to get them at the same time as your food, or for multiple coffees to be ready at once. The vegan waffle is thick, soft yet chewy and has a good flavour. I enjoyed the apple butter and compote of the day (as toppings). The "waffle dog" is smaller than we expected (though wasn't really sure what to expect). More a decent sized snack than a meal.

good food, a little pricey - Edit
The vegan waffles are very good but I was not a fan of the vegan ice cream we ordered with it. More icy than creamy. We also had the vegan waffle dogs, which were sort of like a corn dog and served with a very tasty maple mustard. My husband had a vegan Mediterranean grilled cheese (w/ spinach and olives) which he liked. They use Daiya and I'm not a fan so I didn't try it. It was small and a little expensive considering you don't even get a pickle or chips with it ($7). I paid with a credit card and they leave a space on the receipt for gratuity, which always makes me uncomfortable when I leave it blank, but c'mon. You order at the counter, walk upstairs, they call you when your food is ready and you come back down to get it, then go back upstairs to eat and you bus your own table. What am I supposed to leave a tip for? Anyway, the food was good and if you're vegan and a fan of waffles you will enjoy it.

My hometown needs a Waffle Frolic - Edit
After checking out Farm Sanctuary's list of recommended restaurants, we had to hit up Waffle Frolic. I didn't regret this.
Read moreThey have a gluten free/vegan waffle and their vegan toppings were labled. I noticed that they even had soy ice cream for their dessert waffles. I opted for a vegan waffle with banana, almond butter and coconut. They even offered me Earth Balance. The boyfriend had a vegetarian waffle off of their menu (might have been caramel apple.)
The food was slow, but the awesome service made up for that.
We seated ourselves upstairs. There were board games and an awesome view of the town centre.
Before leaving, we decided to each get waffle dogs to go: veggie dogs on a stick covered in vegan waffle battle with a maple mustard dressing (like a Pogo! I haven't had a Pogo in years.) One of our dogs was comped for some reason. I don't know if it was because we were tourists, we were chatty or the staff member was having a good day.
While waiting, a woman came in who had allergies to gluten and potatoes. She wanted to know if she could eat any of their products. The staff quickly got a hold of the ingredients list for the gluten-free waffle batter and was incredibly helpful. She was able to walk away with a waffle that day.
I couldn't help but noting that a place like this would thrive in my hometown.

Good Food - Edit
This restaurant has very good filling food. It did not have much in the sense of vegetables or salads. It has food for vegetarians such as many types of grilled cheese and waffle meals. The vegan and gluten free waffles were a treat, and you can get real maple syrup for extra money to go with them. There are fruit toppings for the waffles. For beverages, it is more of a tea and coffee shop, but did have orange juice.
Read moreThe service was slowish, and the layout of the restaurant not ideal, as you have to take your food upstairs to sit, or out on the small patio.
Pros: Great waffles, vegan/gluten free waffles, locally minded
Cons: can be slow, seating upstairs, not that helpful staff
